Oscar winner NICOLAS CAGE is to star in a live-action film version of JOHANN WOLFGANG GOETHE’s 18th century poem THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE.
The movie project will be Disney’s second film inspired by the poem - it also provided the backdrop for magical MICKEY MOUSE movie FANTASIA in 1940.
Cage’s version of the movie is being envisioned as a fantasy adventure set in contemporary New York, according to trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter. Cage will play the role of the sorcerer.
