Reunited rockers THE POLICE will kickstart their first tour in 23 years this May (28MAY07) in Vancouver, Canada.
The trio were staging a press conference at fabled Los Angeles music venue the Whisky A Go Go - to announce plans to celebrate their 30th anniversary by touring the world - as WENN went to press.
According to Billboard.com, the group will also headline the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee on 16 June (07).
Full details of the tour will be released later today (12FEB07).
The trio began their comeback when they opened the Grammy Awards with a version of ROXANNE last night (11FEB07).
Frontman STING shouted, "Ladies and gentlemen, we are The Police and we’re back," as the group kickstarted the Grammy ceremony at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
According to Billboard.com, the trio plans to play 80-plus shows around the world this year (07), including dates in the UK, South America and Japan. The group is also planning to perform a stadium show at baseball mecca Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts.

Hip-hop producer TIMBALAND was left amazed recently - when he phoned MADONNA to ask if she would like to collaborate, only to find out the pop superstar wanted to ask him the same question.
Timbaland has become one of the most sought after technicians in pop after working with artists including JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, NELLY FURTADO and BJORK.
He tells MTV, "I reached out to Madonna, and she was already trying to find me. I’m like, ‘She was? Hmm.’ "It’s funny. People will reach out to me, and I guess I beat them to the punch sometimes. It’s crazy to see how many people want to work with me. I’m still in shock."

Actor JAMES McAVOY has added to speculation he is to play iconic character SCOTTY in the new STAR TREK movie.
THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND star hasn’t been approached to play the role "in so many words", but he refuses to rule out the possibility of appearing in the latest installment of the popular sci-fi series, which will be a prequel to the 1960s TV series and will be written by LOST creator JJ ABRAMS.
He says, "I’m a very big Star Trek fan, you see, and, but, no, I couldn’t possibly comment. (I haven’t been approached) in so many words.
"I don’t know to tell you the truth, I’m a Star Trek geek, fan, fanatic, so, anything about it could make me cry. But I’m not going to, I’m saving that for the talent show." Actress SHARON STONE found playing a depressed woman in new movie WHEN A MAN FALLS IN THE FOREST "a watershed experience", because it challenged the way she thinks about clinical depression.
The 48-year-old plays a middle-aged lady who takes up shoplifting as a result of feeling isolated.
Speaking at the Berlin Film Festival today (12FEB07), Stone said, "Everybody goes through times in their lives when they feel like they’re disappearing, when they feel like no one is seeing them or hearing them. I certainly think that it’s prevalent in middle age.
"(Making the film) was a watershed experience. I think that we live in a Prozac society where we’re always told we’re supposed to have this kind of equilibrium of emotion. We have all these assignments about how we’re supposed to feel about something."

NAOMI WATTS has lavished praise on Hollywood for giving more roles to middle-aged actresses.
The 38-year-old KING KONG star isn’t worried about losing out on challenging parts as she gets older, because 39-year-old NICOLE KIDMAN and 37-year-old CATE BLANCHETT are still at the top of their profession as they approach 40.
She says, "As I’ve gotten older, the roles - knock on wood - are getting more interesting. The longer the life, the deeper the characters, the richer the material. The theory used to be that it stops at 35 for women in Hollywood, but I think that has changed.
"For a while it felt as if women’s roles were going to all the 25-year-olds, but now, 40 seems to be the new 35, it really is. Look at all these great women around the age of 40 - Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman, RENEE ZELLWEGER and EMILY WATSON - they will all keep working."

British pop star LILY ALLEN blames not receiving "tender loving care" as a child for her outspoken nature, The SMILE singer had to amuse herself while her actor father KEITH ALLEN and film producer mother ALISON OWEN were focused on their careers, but insists their absence boosted her emotional maturity.
She says, "I probably did lack the tender loving care that most kids get if their mum’s at home all the time. I suppose, all I wanted was for someone to give me a big hug but that never really came.
"(But) I’m very happy with myself. If I hadn’t had the upbringing I had, I wouldn’t be the person I am, so I’m grateful. I feel like I’ve dealt with a lot of emotional s**t people don’t deal with until their twenties or thirties and I am on my way of figuring out happiness."

THE FUTUREHEADS aren’t letting their recent record company split halt their ambition - they’ve decided to set up their own record label.
The HOUNDS OF LOVE hitmakers left 679 Recordings in November (06) after becoming dissatisfied with the label’s marketing strategies, but guitarist ROSS MILLARD has bounced back by launching his own distribution firm.
Millard’s label Longest Mile will release new material from The Futureheads and will also provide an outlet for emerging British bands.
He says, "After doing the band for so many years you realise how the cogs of the (music industry) machine work. People are so naive about how it works we’re just trying to facilitate some younger bands."

Singer-turned-TV presenter CHARLOTTE CHURCH has hit out at veteran British chat show host MICHAEL PARKINSON for asking her about her sex life.
The 20-year-old knows from her own experience that television hosts are encouraged to ask provocative questions, but she was taken aback when 71-year-old Parkinson enquired about her personal life.
Church says, "I know how uncomfortable it can be.
"The producers suggest questions, ‘Ask Ashlee Simpson about the plastic surgery rumours.’ I go, ‘No, she’s 22. If she’s had plastic surgery, it would have been because she’s so insecure. British pop star LILY ALLEN has hit out at her Brit Awards rival CORINNE BAILEY RAE, insisting the PUT YOUR RECORDS ON star is "a bit boring".
Allen will compete against Bailey Rae for the British Female Solo Artist gong at the London awards ceremony on Wednesday (14FEB07).
But Allen fears she has no chance of winning and would prefer fellow nominee AMY WINEHOUSE to take home the prize rather than Rae.
She says, "Corinne Bailey Rae? I think she’s a bit boring, sorry. She’s a lovely girl but I don’t think her music stands out and I’d be a bit annoyed if she won Best Female Artist. I’d be really happy if Amy Winehouse wins, though.

The ‘Little Children’ star - who was the last to arrive on the red carpet - was scheduled to present the first award of the evening, but after recognising a young boy in a wheelchair she stopped to talk to him.
Smiling Kate said: ‘Hello, I remember you. How are you? Do you remember me? That’s amazing that you remember me. It’s lovely to see you again.’ An onlooker said: ‘Kate spent ages on the red carpet signing autographs.
‘It was so cold and she was wearing a strapless dress. She must have been freezing but she looked lovely and smiled at everyone and took as much time as she could.
‘Just as she was about to go in through the doors she caught sight of the young boy and said, ‘I’ve got time for one more’.
‘It was very sweet.’ Abigail Breslin, ten-year-old star of ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ also devoted her time on the red carpet to fans, signing as many autographs as she could.
Abigail, dressed in Harry Winston jewellery and Jimmy Choo shoes, said: ‘I’m very excited. I’ve never been to London so I’m so excited.’
