Paris Hilton has had website ParisExposed.com closed down.
A Los Angeles judge granted a temporary court order on Friday (02.02.07) ordering the site - which allowed subscribers to view a selection of Paris’ home videos, personal diaries and bank records for a fee of $39.97 - to be shut down.
Paris’ lawyer, Howard Weitzman, said: ‘The judge issued the temporary shut down because the site violated my client’s right to privacy and was a copyright infringement.
‘The owner of the site has an opportunity on February 16 to contest the order. He can either do it in writing or orally in court. If he doesn’t show up, or the judge isn’t swayed, the order can turn into a permanent injunction.’ The items on the site were taken from a Los Angeles storage facility and were auctioned off by a third party to the site’s owner, Bardia Persa, after Paris allegedly failed to pay the rent.
‘The Simple Life’ star launched a legal battle to sue ParisExposed.com last week. The law suit said: ‘Unscrupulous individuals can use such information to steal Hilton’s identity, or even worse, to stalk and even physically harm Hilton.’ The lawsuit alleges defendants Nabil and Nabila Haniss of Culver City, California, bought Paris’ items for $2,775 and then sold them for $10 million to the site’s owner, entrepreneur Persa.
