Bollywood actress AMRITA ARORA has announced her engagement to Pakistani-born cricket star USMAN AFZAAL.
The pair are currently separated by a continent - Afzaal is based in England, and Arora in India - but they spend their time jetting between the two countries and plan to marry in 2009.
Arora, 27, says "I’m certain this is the man for me. We’ll make it legal whenever it’s the right time for both of us."

British actor HUGH GRANT forced a crew member to smuggle him alcohol on to the set of new movie MUSIC & LYRICS, so he could loosen up enough to dance on camera.
The 46-year-old claims he has no rhythm and froze on the spot when he first stepped onset for dancing scenes.
Grant - who plays a 80s pop star in the film - says, "Dancing has to come from some primeval life force inside you, and it turns out I don’t have one.
The choreographer would put the music on and say, ‘Just go, just be you’. And literally nothing would happen. I’d just stand there, rooted to the spot. "But put me in my underpants by myself in front of a mirror and I do quite like to dance. Just the sight of myself. I’m so sexy. But put me in front of a large film crew and a lot of extras at seven in the morning with a £140 million budget resting on my shoulders and it’s not so easy.
"In the end I just thought, ‘Well, the only time I’ve ever danced in my life is when I’m really out of my head late at night at a party’, so I made the make-up girl bring me whisky in a 7-up bottle - and then I started to move just a tiny bit."

Bollywood director GOLDIE BEHL has been accused of causing the death of a horse that collapsed on the set of his new movie.
The animal died on 24 January (07) while Behl was shooting period film DRON in the state of Rajasthan.
Animal welfare organisations are accusing Behl of cruelty and demanding a post mortem is carried out on the horse.
Mass protests have forced the suspension of the film, which stars ABHISHEKH BACHCHAN, PRIYANKA CHOPRA and JAYA BACHCHAN.
Campaigner BABULAL JAJU says, "The use of animals in such violent incidents has to be stopped. When stars are not ready to risk their lives and use stuntmen, are the lives of animals not precious? The reins were tied very tightly and the horses were being made to run a lot. One of them collapsed after severely bleeding from the mouth and to avoid any problems, the unit members buried him a little away from the spot.'’

British actor HUGH GRANT is writing a novel so "disturbing", his socialite girlfriend JEMIMA KHAN can’t stand to read it. Hip hop star FABOLOUS took the opportunity to restructure his lifestyle after being shot in New York City in October (06).
The INTO YOU rapper, real name JOHN JACKSON, was shot in the thigh by an unknown gunman as he left Brooklyn restaurant, Justin’s, on October 17 (06).
Since the shooting, Jackson has worked hard to rearrange his team of personal assistants to avoid any more dangerous. He says, "It was a life-threatening experience, so I took it as that. Even when I got my truck back (after the shooting), I looked at (one of the shots) in the windshield - it was high enough to be a head shot. I looked at that as being more dangerous than the leg thing. "It happened in October (06), and I had two months to really think about what was going on. I didn’t have my structure around me right. Once that thing happened, I had to get a structure within my life and make sure I get this s**t moving right. I had a lot of things that wasn’t moving right. Everything was moving on spur of the moment. "Anybody who’s in a leadership position or a boss position, you need to have some structure. You need to have certain people who make the whole clock keep running smoothly. I look back at the shooting like if s**t would have been structured right, maybe none of it would have been happening."

American rockers THE DISTILLERS have split after nine years and three studio albums together.
The band lost momentum after bassist RYAN SINN and drummer ANDY GRANELLI left in 2003 and have failed to release a record since.

SPIRITUALIZED frontman JASON PIERCE is making a miraculous recovery after beating an illness that almost killed him twice.
Pierce, 41, had only just finished recording the band’s new album when he fell ill.
The British singer’s partner JULIETTE made the announcement in a posting on the band’s website, but doesn’t reveal what Pierce was suffering from.
She writes, "So nearly dying twice in the last 2 and half weeks Jason has now and fantastically made an alarming and brilliant recovery and is due home today. "He is still fragile and really weak weighing in at maybe 8 stone but love and happiness are on his side."

THE BEATLES have reached an agreement with technology giant Apple, ending a 25-year dispute over the use of the Apple name.
Apple Inc will now assume full control of the Apple brand, but they have agreed to licence certain trademarks back to the Beatles’ record company Apple Corps for continued use.
Apple Inc chief executive STEVE JOBS says, "We love the Beatles, and it has been painful being at odds with them over these trademarks. It feels great to resolve this in a positive manner, and in a way that should remove the potential of further disagreements in the future." The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. It is not known whether the Beatles have agreed to sell their music on Apple Inc’s iTunes download store as part of the deal.

A Los Angeles judge granted a temporary court order on Friday (02.02.07) ordering the site - which allowed subscribers to view a selection of Paris’ home videos, personal diaries and bank records for a fee of $39.97 - to be shut down.
Paris’ lawyer, Howard Weitzman, said: ‘The judge issued the temporary shut down because the site violated my client’s right to privacy and was a copyright infringement.
‘The owner of the site has an opportunity on February 16 to contest the order. He can either do it in writing or orally in court. If he doesn’t show up, or the judge isn’t swayed, the order can turn into a permanent injunction.’ The items on the site were taken from a Los Angeles storage facility and were auctioned off by a third party to the site’s owner, Bardia Persa, after Paris allegedly failed to pay the rent.
‘The Simple Life’ star launched a legal battle to sue ParisExposed.com last week. The law suit said: ‘Unscrupulous individuals can use such information to steal Hilton’s identity, or even worse, to stalk and even physically harm Hilton.’ The lawsuit alleges defendants Nabil and Nabila Haniss of Culver City, California, bought Paris’ items for $2,775 and then sold them for $10 million to the site’s owner, entrepreneur Persa.

A source said: ‘Eva was paid $100,000 for her personal appearance at Harrods, and after she’d opened the sale she went round the store and did a lot of shopping for herself.

The ‘SexyBack’ singer - who is nominated for the best male singer award - admits he is thrilled to be fronting the ceremony, which will be held on March at the University of California.
Justin said: ‘I’m revving up to have an even bigger blast than usual, while honouring kids’ opinions. The ceremony taps into the child in all of us.’ The 27-year-old star has already won three Kids’ Choice Awards during his career, including favourite musical group with boyband ‘N Sync in 1999 and best burp in 2003 and 2006.

On his website, whedonesque.com, he wrote: ‘I had a take on the film that, well, nobody liked.’ The writer was producing a feature-length ‘Wonder Woman’ for Warner Bros.
Pictures and Silver Pictures but always thought the process would be difficult.
He added: ‘We all just saw different movies, and at the price range this kind of movie hangs in, that’s never gonna work. It happens all the time.
‘I don’t think any of us expected it to happen this time, but it did.
Everybody knows how long I was taking, what a struggle the script was for me, and though I felt good about what I was coming up with, it was never gonna be simple.’ Joss came on board the project in March 2005 and was paid around $3 million to develop and write the adaptation, which Joel Silver is producing.
Although he has quit ‘Wonder Woman’ Joss is also currently working on ‘Goners’, a thriller he is reported to be directing for Universal Pictures and is overseeing a new ‘Buffy’ storyline for Dark Horse Comics.
