TE KANAWA TELLS JUDGE TO USE ‘DAME’ TAG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:07 pm

LATEST: New Zealand opera star DAME KIRI TE KANAWA has reprimanded an Australian judge for failing to address her correctly.
The singer chastised Justice PATRICIA BERGIN for calling her by her first name, and instead insisted Bergin referred to her by her title, Dame Kiri.
The soprano told a packed court, "First name would be more appropriate.
"I’m normally called Dame Kiri, otherwise Ms Te Kanawa would be too long for anyone to pronounce." Te Kanawa is appearing in a Sydney Supreme Court this week (beg29JAN07), where she and manager NICK GRACE stand accused of breach of contract. The star pulled out of a series of shows alongside Australian rocker JOHN FARHAM in 2005.
