LATEST: Opera singer DAME KIRI TE KANAWA pulled out of a deal to perform with JOHN FARNHAM after being shocked by footage of the rocker collecting knickers "as some sort of trophy" at a concert.
Te Kanawa was due to perform with Farnham in a series of Australian shows two years ago (05), but became concerned after watching a DVD of his live concerts.
The soprano and her ex-manager NICK GRACE are being sued by concert promoters Leading Edge for up to AUS$2 million ($1.6 million/£790,000) for alleged breach of contract.
The soprano told a court in Sydney, "I was concerned about the knickers and underwear apparel being thrown at him and him collecting it and obviously holding it in his hand as some sort of trophy.
"If this is what he does, how do I control this? It was disrespectful to me in particular."

Rap mogul SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS is in trouble again over the use of his latest monicker, with British musician RICHARD ‘DIDDY’ DEARLOVE alleging the American is still using their shared nickname in the UK.
The COME TO ME hitmaker settled the original lawsuit with music producer Dearlove out of court in September 2006.
He paid damages of £10,000 ($5,130) and agreed to trade as ‘P Diddy’ in the UK in order to avoid any confusion with Dearlove - who has been trading under the name ‘Diddy’ since 1992.
But Dearlove’s attorney, IAIN PURVIS QC, argues that while Combs has made the relevant changes to two of his British websites, others bearing the name ‘Diddy’ are still accessible to fans in the UK - including his MySpace page.
Purvis told London’s High Court today (01FEB07), "It may be tough for him, but that is just unfortunate. He has made his bed, he should lie in it." Combs, formerly known as ‘Puffy’ and ‘Puff Daddy’, started using the ‘P Diddy’ alias in 2001, but shortened it to ‘Diddy’ in 2005.

Despite being the daughter of Hollywood hard man Winstone, Jaime insists she didn’t expect so much media attention in her native UK after starring in British film KIDULTHOOD.

Veteran actress HONOR BLACKMAN and former supermodel JEMMA KIDD are backing a campaign highlighting domestic abuse - by appearing in a series of shocking photographs looking battered and bruised.
The violent images are part of the ACT campaign by UK domestic violence charity Women’s Aid, and also features other British celebrities including actress ANNA FRIEL and TV presenter KATE THORNTON.
GOLDFINGER star Blackman says, "By publicly speaking out against domestic violence together we can challenge attitudes towards violence in the home and show that it is a crime and not merely something unacceptable." Kidd adds, "Unless we act now many more women will die."

JULIE ANDREWS was left red-faced in front of a group of children when she failed to spell the 34 letter word she made famous in 1964 movie MARY POPPINS.

Indian movie star AISHWARYA RAI has been hit with a lawsuit after reportedly undergoing a banned ancient Hindu ceremony in which she was spiritually married to a tree.
The former Miss World, who recently (15JAN07) confirmed her engagement to Bollywood superstar ABHISHEK BACHCHAN, is alleged to have agreed to the ritual to overcome differences in the couple’s astrological charts - disparities which traditional Hindus believe have negative consequences on marriage.
Under this ancient belief, Rai is considered a ‘manglik’ because her chart bears the planet Mars, and she must be ‘married’ to a peepal tree, a banana tree or a silver or golden idol of the Hindu god Vishnu in order to overcome the devastating effects being a ‘manglik’ could have on her impending nuptials.
The 33-year-old now faces a civil lawsuit for practicing the ‘untouchability’ service, which is associated with the caste system, because such ceremonies are in violation of the Indian constitution and are deemed offensive to women.
The lawsuit was filed in Patna, India by lawyer SHRUTI SINGH, who is calling for Rai and her family to issue a public apology for the ‘false marriages’.
The Bachchan family have refused to comment on the allegations.

British pop singer JAMELIA expects her soccer star fiance to be accused of cheating on her, because fame-hungry girls will do anything to get into the newspapers.

Hip hop mogul SHAWN ‘JAY-Z’ CARTER is moving into the Trump World Towers in New York, after purchasing a $65,000 (£33,000) per month luxury apartment in the property tycoon’s complex.
The Def Jam president’s new 14 room home includes five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen, a library and maid’s quarters, as well as featuring sweeping views of the city.
Jay-Z will become neighbours with baseball star DEREK JETER, who also owns an apartment in the building, and will have full use of the Towers’ health club and spa, wine cellar and room service from popular Japanese restaurant Megu.
The rapper’s previous property, a $40,000 (£20,500) per month condominium in Manhattan, sold for $27 million (£13.8 million) last year (06), according to the New York Post.

Feuding BEACH BOY MIKE LOVE and his former bandmate AL JARDINE are again taking their ongoing legal dispute over whether Jardine can use the group’s name to court.
On Tuesday (30JAN07), Los Angeles Superior Court Judge JAMES R DUNN rejected Love’s motion to rule in his favour over reclaiming costs. In September (06), Dunn allowed the musician to pursue $2 million in court costs and $1 million in earnings he claims Jardine wrongly earned for using the Beach Boys’ name.
However, on Tuesday Dunn ruled there is enough evidence for the still unresolved, long-running matter to go to trial, and ordered attorneys for both Love and Jardine to get in contact with him by the end of the month (FEB07) to discuss the status of the case.
Jardine’s lawyer LAURENCE NOBLE says, "The judge will then decide on a trial date, or if there should be mediation or additional motions. Hopefully, this case will go away and Al Jardine can focus on making his music for his fans and not fending off this litigation." In 2001, Jardine filed a $4 million (£2.1 million) lawsuit against Love and The Beach Boys’ Brother Records Inc, accusing Love of excluding him from performing with the band that year.
The complaint was eventually dismissed but Love sued Jardine in 2003 for using the name The Beach Boys in the title of his band AL JARDINE OF THE BEACH BOYS. The same year federal courts ordered Jardine to cease using the Beach Boys name in the title of his bands.
Love maintains only he has the legal right to perform under the band’s name.

The ‘Mean Girls’ actress - who checked herself into Los Angeles Wonderland Center rehab clinic last month for alcoholism - has allegedly been sending sexy text messages to Brody Jenner, who has previously dated Nicole Richie and Kristin Cavallari.
According to Us Weekly magazine, one text - sent on Saturday night (27.01.07) - said she wanted ‘McDonald’s and sex’.

The ‘Toxic’ singer, who filed for divorce from Kevin in November, can’t believe he is still spending time with her friends, including her brother Brian’s roommate.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: ‘He is still really good friends with Brian’s roommate. Brian isn’t the biggest fan of Kevin.’ The 28-year-old aspiring rapper partied with Brian’s friends and his roommate at Los Angeles nightclub Butter on Monday (01.02.07).
However Kevin showed some respect to his estranged wife by continuing the party at a hotel, rather than going back to his brother-in-law’s home.
Kevin’s representative Marilyn Lopez confirmed he did spend the evening with Brian’s friends.
Britney and Kevin are both seeking sole custody of their two sons, 16-month-old Sean Preston and four-month-old Jayden James.

The movie’s director Peter Webber revealed the theft and is convinced the guilty party is planning on selling them.
He said: ‘There’s a character called Dortlich whose head is severed during the course of the movie. It was stolen by someone. There’s also a scene with a body that Hannibal Lecter is working on. It’s a full-size replica human body, including the genitals. Somebody took the genitals - they had to cut them off. So someone somewhere has got a large rubber penis and a rubber head.’ Webber is going to check internet auction site eBay to see if they turn up.
The movie is a prequel to the trilogy of Hannibal Lecter films, which starred Sir Anthony Hopkins as the cannibalistic serial killer.
It is based on Thomas Harris’ book of the same name and stars Gaspard Ulliel as the murderer in his early years.

The Californian Highway Patrol (CHP) handed over Nicole’s DUI case to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office on Wednesday (31.01.07).
The decision suggests CHP officials have recommended Nicole faces a criminal charge because the district attorney - rather than the city attorney office - has been asked to review the case.
Nicole, 25, was charged with the offence on December 11 after being arrested for driving the wrong way along a Californian freeway.
At the time of the arrest she admitted to police she had taken the strong painkiller Vicodin and smoked marijuana.
She was taken into custody and released after posting $15,000 bail.
If charges are filed against Nicole a hearing will be scheduled for February 7.
If convicted, Nicole’s chances of a jail sentence are further increased because of a previous DUI charge in 2002.
California law states that a repeat offence carries the mandatory jail sentence of five days and the offender should have their driving licence suspended for one year.
At the time of her arrest in 2002 Nicole told police she had eaten French fries and drunk a shot of vodka.
She pleaded no contest to the charge and was sentenced to three years probation. Nicole also had her driving license suspended for one year.
Six months later, Nicole was arrested for possession of heroin and for driving with a suspended license.

The former Hole singer proudly announced she had been contacted by the show’ s executive producer Nigel Lythgoe to join the judging panel on the hit TV show, but he denies making the call.
Lythgoe said in a statement: ‘I did not call Courtney Love and am afraid someone may have misrepresented me.
‘Courtney Love is a very talented artist, but the judges for ‘American Idol’ are Paula, Randy and Simon. We have no plans to add to or replace any of them.’ It was thought producers might be looking to replace Paula Abdul after she sparked concerns she is battling substance abuse.
Fears were fuelled after she appeared in a series of interviews last month where she was seen swaying and slurring her words.
Paula, who judges ‘American Idol’ along with Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson, recently revealed that while she has no plans to leave the show she is currently working on several other projects.
Projects include a documentary about her life for TV network Bravo, producing a live-action film based on the Bratz dolls - and her love life.
When asked what she looks for in a man, Paula replied: ‘The opposite from Simon.’
