LATEST: ANNA NICOLE SMITH will be buried next to her son DANIEL in The Bahamas on Friday morning (02MAR07) after a Florida court rejected an appeal by the late star’s estranged mother.
VIRGIE ARTHUR challenged a ruling to bury Smith in Nassau, and her appeal was heard yesterday morning (28FEB07).
But judges involved in the case at Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeals overruled Arthur’s bid for custody of her daughter’s remains late yesterday (28FEB07), re-awarding the corpse to attorney RICHARD MILSTEIN, the legally-appointed guardian to Anna Nicole’s baby daughter DANNIELYNN.
Milstein, Smith’s companion HOWARD K. STERN and her exboyfriend LARRY BIRKHEAD had already agreed to bury the late model on The Bahamas, her adopted home.
The funeral will now take place, as planned, on Friday morning.
Smith’s remains, which have been embalmed in Florida - where she died three weeks ago (08FEB07), will be transported to Nassau for the burial.
Arthur challenged the Bahamian burial plans because she wanted to take her daughter’s body back to her native Texas and bury her there.

The couple, who have been married for 15 years, currently have two children together, son JETT, 14, and daughter, ELLA, six.

LATEST: After weeks of negotiations VICTORIA BECKHAM has signed a lucrative deal to star in her own reality TV show in America.
The former SPICE GIRL is moving to Los Angeles with her husband DAVID after he signed with the LA Galaxy soccer team earlier this year (07) - and she’s already set for her own success in Hollywood.
AMERICAN IDOL creator and former Spice Girls manager SIMON FULLER will produce a 30-minute unscripted comedy series for former POSH SPICE Beckham, which is slated to debut this summer (07).
Each episode will focus on her transition to life in the US and will explore how one of the most famous women in the world moves her entourage - including publicist, stylist, and personal assistants - overseas.
Fuller explains, "For the past few years, I’ve been inundated with requests to make a show based on Victoria’s real life. After much thought, we have finally decided to do it." Victoria adds, "(Fuller) has so much success around the world with his TV shows and the respect and trust of everybody he works with. "This show is really something different. It’s pushing the boundaries, and I think it’s going to surprise a lot of people."

Pop star MADONNA resorts to screaming to release her frustration when she’s caught in stressful situations. The 48-year-old admits she desperately tries to manage her stress levels, but sometimes lashes out at those around her.

Comedian CHRIS ROCK was so determined to act the part in his new movie I THINK I LOVE MY WIFE he hired NICOLE KIDMAN’s acting teacher to help him perfect his skills.
The funnyman admits he had never before sought out acting advice, but now he wants his roles in comedies to be taken more seriously.
He says, "This is the first time I had an acting coach on set every day and she’s the same one who works with Nicole Kidman. In a sense she would direct me. I put myself in her hands, except when it came to something funny.
"I liked playing a grown-up for a change. I think most guys play guys that won’t grow up. That’s easier."

LATEST: The latest installment of the STAR TREK series will be released on Christmas Day 2008, resurrecting the cult franchise after a six-year hiatus.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: III director J.J. ABRAMS recently signed on to direct the film after months of speculation.
The prequel will focus on a young CAPTAIN KIRK and MR SPOCK and their initial meeting at Starfleet Academy and first mission in space.
Abrams, who has been developing the project, is set to begin shooting in the autumn (07).

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN star JAKE GYLLENHAAL desperately wanted to prove he was a good uncle to new niece RAMONA, but became overwhelmed when he attempted to change her diaper.
The star’s sister MAGGIE gave birth to a daughter in October (06) and he wanted to get the full experience of trying to care for her.
He explains, "I’m an uncle. It’s great. It’s amazing - except for the diaper changing, which I did once and will never go back to again until it is my own child.
"I wanted to try it out. I wanted to see what it was like. So she handed me my niece and I put her down on the changing table and I un-knotted her organic diaper.
"I really never knew, and I am naive, of course, but I never knew that it was orange. I have a very short gag reflex. So when I saw it (I started gagging).
"I (was gagging) and handed her back!"

JAMES CAAN is leaving LAS VEGAS after announcing he won’t be a part of the fifth season of the hit US TV drama.
The movie icon and co-star NIKKI COX will not feature in the upcoming season of Las Vegas when it starts later this year, according to trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter.
Caan, who played a surveillance boss in a Sin City casino, insists he wants to spend more time making movies.
In a statement he says, "I’m eager to return to where my heart is, which is film, and, due to the show’s schedule, I missed some great opportunities to do that."

Oscar winner FOREST WHITAKER was so intense as ruthless Ugandan leader IDI AMIN in movie THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND he terrified his castmates and friends.
RAY star KERRY WASHINGTON, who played Amin’s wife KAY in the film, has been a longtime friend of the actor, but admits even she was nervous about approaching him on the set - because he was so convincing as the egotistical African tyrant.
The actress explains, "I didn’t see my friend Forest Whitaker there once because he was always Idi. There was always one foot in Forest and one foot in Idi but he never let himself completely detach from the spirit of Idi Amin.
"It was incredibly inspiring but incredibly frightening. I was scared for myself and for him because I understood where he was going as an actor, but I didn’t know how he was going to come back from this.
"You had to be careful about the things you said around him. He was really intense."

HERMAN BRIX, an Olympic athlete and actor who starred on the big screen as TARZAN, has died. He was 100.
Brix died Saturday (24FEB07) in Santa Monica, California of complications from a broken hip.
Brix won a silver medal for the shotput in the 1928 Olympics and went on to star in THE NEW ADVENTURES OF TARZAN in 1935.
He later adopted the stage name BRUCE BENNETT and appeared as JOAN CRAWFORD’s husband in MILDRED PIERCE, and as an ill-fated gold prospector in THE TREASURES OF SIERRA MADRE.
Among his other credits were THE OFFICER AND THE LADY, ATLANTIC CONVOY, SAHARA and DARK PASSAGE. After his Hollywood career ended in the 1960s, Brix went on to work for a Los Angeles food service company, where he became a West Coast sales manager.
He later had a successful career in real estate before retiring in the mid-1980s.

RAY star KERRY WASHINGTON has called off her engagement to actor DAVID MOSCOW, insisting she’s too young to wed.
The pretty 30-year-old and RIDING IN CARS WITH BOYS star Moscow got engaged in 2004.
She says, "I think I’m really young and I think it’s such a personal decision (to get married). It’s really about asking yourself, ‘What do I really, really want?’" The actress admits her parents’ perfect marriage made her realise she didn’t want to rush into a union that might not last a lifetime.

The California detective who headed the chase for the mysterious Zodiac Killer 35 years ago is hoping a new movie about the investigation will prompt new leads - because he’s still haunted by the case he couldn’t solve.
DAVE TOSCHI, who is played by MARK RUFFALO in director DAVID FINCHER’s new thriller ZODIAC, still marks the anniversary of the San Francisco serial killer’s first murder by revisiting the crime scene in Presidio Heights.
But he reveals the case is as cold as ever and was marked inactive in 2004.
Toschi only hopes that by this year’s ill-fated anniversary in October (11OCT07), the identity of the killer will be known - thanks to the film.
Toschi, who became the model for San Francisco cops played by STEVE McQUEEN in BULLITT and CLINT EASTWOOD in the DIRTY HARRY movies, says, "I make it a point to cross that intersection of Washington and Cherry all the time, especially every anniversary.
"A lot of times I go and stop and think about it, the prints and the blood. I just stop to see if maybe somebody else would be parked there, maybe the killer would show up. I was always trying to figure out `Where did we go wrong?’ It’s never left me."

KATHERINE HEIGL has dropped out of contract talks with bosses of hit medical drama GREY’S ANATOMY over a salary dispute.
The star plays DR ISOBEL ‘IZZIE’ STEVENS on the show and is reportedly upset she is receiving less money than her co-stars.
A source tells American publication People, "Katie is disappointed and hurt that (the show’s producer) Touchstone doesn’t value her as much as her other co-stars, especially SANDRA OH and ISAIAH WASHINGTON.
Sources on the set also say tension has emerged after a spin-off series was announced featuring KATE WALSH’s character, DR ADDISON MONTGOMERY.
A source tells American publication Star, "The rest of the cast seemed instantly resentful of (Walsh).
"They each thought they’d be the one chosen to get their own show, and now they’re giving Kate the cold shoulder."

LATEST: ANNA NICOLE SMITH’s corpse is to remain in a Florida morgue indefinitely after local authorities failed to come to a verdict on who should be awarded the body this morning (28FEB07).
Three weeks after Smith died on her way to a Hollywood, Florida hospital, the former model still doesn’t have a final resting place confirmed following the brief court hearing.
A Florida appeals court agreed to consider an appeal to overturn last Thursday’s (22FEB07) ruling to grant custody of Anna Nicole’s body to her baby daughter DANNIELYNN through the child’s court-appointed guardian, RICHARD MILSTEIN.
The appeal was brought by Anna Nicole’s estranged mother VIRGIE ARTHUR, who wanted custody of the body, so she could bury her daughter in her native Texas.
Smith’s companion HOWARD K. STERN, her ex-boyfriend LARRY BIRKHEAD and MILSTEIN all agreed the body should be buried next to Smith’s son DANIEL in Nassau, The Bahamas - Anna Nicole’s adopted home.
All parties presented their arguments this morning before the Florida 4th District Court of Appeals. The judges involved in the appeal then ended the hearing refusing to reveal when they would rule.
But the panel implied that Anna Nicole’s wishes to be buried in The Bahamas were a major factor in deciding the case.
If the appeal is denied, Smith’s funeral has been set for Friday morning (02MAR07) in The Bahamas.

Heavy rockers TYPE O NEGATIVE took three years to record their new album to allow frontman PETER STEELE to recover from a breakdown and a rehab stint.
The band has regrouped to record DEAD AGAIN and Steele is now revealing exactly what prompted the delay.
He tells MTV News, "I was in a psychiatric institute for a while… and I went through rehab." Steele admits record label spats and the deaths of his mother and close friend, guitarist ‘DIMEBAG’ DARRELL ABBOTT didn’t help his recovery.
The singer adds, "It was like a slap in the face with a frozen hand." Steele also spent time locked up in New York’s notorious Rikers Island prison for, what he calls, "accidentally punching someone in the face 50 times." But he admits the toughest thing to deal with is balancing his rock career with family life.
He explains, "You have wives and kids and house payments and divorces and separations and all this other f**king s**t that goes on, so when we’d schedule rehearsals, they’d start revolving around, ‘Well, can we find a babysitter?’ It just becomes more and more complicated."

IAN WALLACE, a drummer who toured with rockers such as BOB DYLAN, DON HENLEY and BONNIE RAITT has died. He was 60.
Wallace died Thursday (22FEB07) in Los Angeles of complications from oesophageal cancer.
English-born Wallace began playing in rock bands in the 1960s and earned a reputation for his eclectic range.
Wallace performed with a wide variety of musicians including CROSBY, STILLS & NASH, STEVIE NICKS, ROY ORBISON, THE TRAVELING WILBURYS, BRIAN ENO and JACKSON BROWNE.
He also played with several jazz bands and founded the CRIMSON JAZZ TRIO.
