BROSNAN LEARNED OF BOND SNUB ON FIRST DAY OF FILMING WESTERN
The director of PIERCE BROSNAN’s new western feared he’d have to ban all mention of 007 on the set of his film after the Irish actor received the news he’d been axed as JAMES BOND.
SERAPHIM FALLS writer/director DAVID VON ANCKEN admits there was a tense atmosphere on the set on the first day of shooting after Brosnan learned Bond producers were looking for a younger man.
He recalls, "I think the first day we were down there in New Mexico was the day he found out it (Bond) wasn’t gonna happen.
"But, once we were making the movie, I don’t think it came up much at all.
"I was fascinated with the press fascination about this because, when you get to know the guy (Brosnan), he’s a more interesting actor than that role was." And Von Ancken has nothing but high praise for the actor, who braved the elements in the freezing Taos mountains, stripped for a scene that was cut from the film, braved rapids and even hid under a stinking fake horse carcass to play wilderness man GIDEON in the period film.
