WILLIAMS ALMOST MISSED OUT ON UGLY BETTY ROLE
Actress VANESSA WILLIAMS initially missed out on the chance to play a catty magazine boss in US TV hit UGLY BETTY because she was in Egypt when the part was cast.
The former beauty queen was offered the chance to play WILHELMINA SLATER when producers were starting to cast the show, but she couldn’t make it to the auditions in Los Angeles.
She says, "I had just lost my father. We’re a very close family and it completely rocked our world. We went away to Egypt.
"So I couldn’t meet with the producers and they cast someone. Then I got a call, ‘We want you to start tomorrow…’ You just never know in this business."
