KOREAN SINGER COMMITS SUICIDE
South Korean pop star U-NEE has committed suicide by hanging herself at her home in the city of Incheon.
The 26-year-old - real name HUR YEON - was found dead by her grandmother on Sunday (21JAN07).
She left no note or will, but U-Nee’s mother has revealed she was suffering depression, and police have announced the death as an apparent suicide.
The star shot to fame in Korea in 1996 when she appeared in TV drama GROWN-UPS JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND. She starred in a series of Korean movies and TV shows before turning her attention to music in 2003 with her debut album GO, followed by 2005’s CALL CALL CALL.
Her third album, HONEY, is due for release next week (01FEB07).
