KIDMAN INVOLVED IN ON-SET ACCIDENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:49 pm

Oscar winner NICOLE KIDMAN was taken to hospital last night (24JAN07) after being involved in an accident on the set of her latest film, THE INVASION, in downtown Los Angeles.
The actress was filming a scene in which she was driving a Jaguar, trying to escape zombie-like characters who were hanging off the hood, when the accident happened.
The vehicle was being towed by a rig in order to give the appearance that the actress was actually driving the car. The stunt driver operating the rig lost control while turning a corner, causing Kidman’s car to hit a pole and knock over a garbage can.
The actress and her co-star, 10-year-old JACKSON BOND, who was riding in the passenger seat, were both wearing seatbelts.
Members of the crew immediately wrapped a blanket around Kidman and paramedics arrived to check the actress for injuries.
The 39-year-old star was taken to Cedars Sinai Medical Center and was released within two hours.
According to American publication Us Weekly, the actress was in shock and took a long break, but eventually resumed filming later that night.
Her husband, KEITH URBAN, and 11-year-old son CONNOR CRUISE, were reportedly on set with her at the time of the accident.

MOORE SPOOKED BY HAUNTED MANSION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:34 pm

Singer/actress MANDY MOORE was terrified when she discovered the remote mansion in which she was recording tracks for her new album was haunted.
The CANDY singer was writing and recording tracks in an old house that had been converted into a recording studio in Woodstock, New York.
She explains, "I was kind of forewarned this old house that was built in the 1920’s was haunted and I’m a big scaredy-cat.
"As soon as I arrived at my little part of the house where I was staying, I walked around to every room saying, ‘OK, I’m just here for a couple months, and I’m here to do something positive and creative. Please don’t scare me and please leave me alone!’ "Supposedly, it’s a family and this was their summer house back in the ’20s and they have another house in Pennsylvania and they supposedly go back and forth between the two.
"The matriarch of the family supposedly haunts the part of the house that I was staying in. She doesn’t like people cleaning.
"Supposedly the cleaning lady at the studio was pushed down the stairs a couple of years ago, so I was completely freaked out. My favourite part was I guess she really didn’t like cleaning, because I would do laundry and put my pants on top of the dryer and I would come back and everything would be on the ground.
"So I started putting the laundry detergent on top of my pants and I came back and everything, the laundry detergent, the pants, the dryer sheets, were all thrown on the ground. I was petrified!"

OPERA STAR PALANKAY DIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:31 pm

Hungarian mezzo soprano KLARA PALANKAY, who was known for her role as JUDITH in BELA BARTOK’s opera BLUEBEARD’S CASTLE, died on Wednesday (24JAN07) in a Budapest hospital. She was 85.
The exact cause of death was not immediately known, but she was being treated in hospital for a cold.
Palankay studied at Budapest’s Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music and later in Rome between 1938 and 1944, the year she began her career at the Hungarian State Opera.
Paired with bass MIHALY SZEKELY as Bluebeard, Palankay was considered the greatest Judith in Bartok’s one-hour, one-act opera in which theirs are the only singing roles on stage.
Critics also view the pair’s 1956 recording of Bluebeard, with JANOS FERENCSIK directing the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra, as one of the best performances of the Bartok opus.
During her career, Palankay also performed key roles in several other operas, including Verdi’s AIDA (AMNERIS) and RIGOLETTO (MADDALENA), Wagner’s TANNHAUSER (VENUS) and the lead in Bizet’s CARMEN.
She retired in 1970 and was the recipient of several awards, including the Bela Bartok Memorial Medal in 1982.
