British soccer ace DAVID BECKHAM is planning to become a household name in the US next month (FEB07) when a TV interview with the star is screened during the Superbowl final - to an audience of 80 million Americans.
Beckham and his wife VICTORIA will soon be moving to Los Angeles after he signed a five year contract, beginning in June (07), with LA Galaxy worth $250 million (£128 million).
Leading chat show hosts OPRAH WINFREY and JAY LENO are reported to have lost out in the race to clinch Beckham’s first major TV interview since announcing his new career move.

McCARTNEY ‘SETTLES’ DIVORCE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:31 pm

LATEST: SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has reportedly agreed to a £32 million ($63 million) divorce settlement with his estranged wife HEATHER MILLS, after a bitter six month battle over the former BEATLE’s vast fortune.
McCartney split from his second wife Mills in May last year (06) after four years of marriage, and began divorce proceedings in July (06).
The 64-year-old has allegedly agreed to hand over his £4 million ($7.8 million) home in St John’s Wood, London to the former model, as well as his £6 million ($11.8 million) mansion in Beverly Hills, California, according to British newspaper News Of The World.
The out-of-court settlement means McCartney will never have to publicly defend himself against Mills’ claims of physical abuse while she was pregnant with their daughter BEATRICE in 2003, as stated in court papers filed by the 39-year-old’s legal team.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:31 pm

ANGELINA JOLIE is happy to spend her time helping the poor in the developing world - because it keeps her away from celebrity magazines with her face on the cover.
The media frenzy surrounding Jolie’s relationship with BRAD PITT depresses the campaigning actress, and gives her an added reason to steer clear of the US.
She says, "I’m frustrated that’s what sells. Fortunately, I don’t read those magazines and I travel to a lot of countries where they don’t exist. You can’t take any of it seriously."

REALITY TV STAR ADMITS RACIST COMMENTS BUT IS ‘NO RACIST’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:25 pm

Disgraced British reality TV contestant JADE GOODY has confessed to racially abusing Bollywood star SHILPA SHETTY on CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER - but maintains she is not a racist.
The show has created controversy in both Britain and India over allegations Shetty has been subjected to a torrent of racial abuse since entering the programme’s sealed compound earlier this month (JAN07).
British media watchdog Ofcom has received more than 38,000 complaints since housemates Goody, pop star JO O’MEARA and model DANIELLE LLOYD began ridiculing the glamorous actress for the way she eats, looks and speaks.
In Patna, India effigies of the trio have been burned as protesters gathered on the street condemning their actions.
Speaking to British newspaper News Of The World, Goody - who was evicted from the house on Friday (19JAN07) - admits, "(Shetty) was the victim of bullying and racism. I’m not going to justify my actions because they were wrong. I was shocked and disgusted at myself.
"I don’t know why I said those things to her or why those words came into my head. I’m not making excuses because I know that it’s wrong." She adds, "I’m not a racist, but I accept I made racist comments. I don’t see people for the colour that they are, or where they come from. I’m mixed race myself and I speak to everyone of every colour, background and nationality.
"I now know that things that I may not think are racist can actually be racist. It’s my own fault for not knowing enough about other people’s cultures.
I feel s**t. I hate myself right now." Goody is donating her £50,000 ($97,500) fee for appearing on Celebrity Big Brother, as well as the £50,000 ($97,500) News Of The World would normally have paid to interview her, to charities of her and Shetty’s choice.

ALPHA DOG VICTIM’S MOTHER ATTEMPTS SUICIDE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:25 pm

LATEST: The mother of a murder victim whose alleged killer is the subject of new film ALPHA DOG has attempted suicide three times in the wake of the movie’s US release.
SUSAN MARKOWITZ and her family are disgusted by the film, which stars JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, SHARON STONE and BRUCE WILLIS, insisting it profits from their son’s horrific death.
Fifteen-year-old NICHOLAS MARKOWITZ was kidnapped and killed by a drugs gang in 2000, allegedly over a debt owed by his brother.
The victim’s father JEFF MARKOWITZ says of his wife Susan, "She is so tortured by what happened that she has tried to take her own life. The last thing that either of us want is to see this picture.
"How would any loving parent feel about a Hollywood movie that glamourises their son’s death and allows celebrities to cash in on a brutal, evil murder?" Nicholas’ alleged killer, JESSE JAMES HOLLYWOOD, 26, is currently in jail and awaiting trial in Los Angeles later this year (07). A US federal court recently declined the accused killer’s request to block Alpha Dog’s release in America on 12 January (07).
Director NICK CASSAVETES insists his film was not made to cause offence or have any influence over the trial.
He says, "The last thing we would want to do is prejudice a trial or bring unnecessary suffering to anyone. I don’t believe this movie does that. Real life is way more important than movies."

DJS DRAMA AND CANNON PREPARE TO DEFEND ‘FALSE’ CLAIMS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:22 pm

LATEST: Mixtape king DJ DRAMA and his business partner DJ DON CANNON have rubbished charges of racketeering brought against them after authorities raided their offices in Atlanta, Georgia, last week (16JAN07).
The pair spent Tuesday (16JAN07) night in Fulton County Jail, Georgia, before being released on $100,000 (£51,300) bail the following afternoon (17JAN07). Drama - real name TYREE SIMMONS - has hired the services of prominent defence attorney ED GARLAND to clear his name in the "false" charges brought by the Recording Industry Association Of America (RIAA), in which Simmons and Cannon stand accused of selling pirated CDs from their Aphilliate Music Group premises.
In a statement to AllHipHop.com, Simmons says, "This is an attempt by the government to paint an image of those involved in hip-hop as criminals.
"Don Cannon and I are being negatively depicted despite the fact we are legitimate businessmen, highly involved in the community, and college graduates that have never been arrested.
"We are being accused of damaging the music industry, when in fact, we are hired by record labels to help develop and elevate the careers of their artists by previewing unreleased material to the masses." Cops reportedly seized 50,000 CDs in the raid last week (16JAN07) during which they also hauled 17 employees into custody.
The DJs - who have worked with the likes of T.I., YOUNG JEEZY, LIL JON, BUSTA RHYMES and NELLY - are due in court on Wednesday (24JAN07).
