Members of animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are planning to disrupt JENNIFER LOPEZ’s fragrance launch tomorrow (20JAN07) in protest against her use of fur.
A promotional event is being held for the star’s latest perfume, Glow After Dark, at Macy’s department store in Downey, California.
According to E Online, PETA plans to cause a stink by planting a member among the crowd of young women vying to be named a "Glow Girl" and hoping to win an appearance on Lopez’s online project, the Glow After Dark Show. It is not clear if Lopez herself will actually be attending the event.
PETA has frequently targeted the WAITING FOR TONIGHT singer for wearing fur and using it in her clothing line. Lopez was spotted wearing a furry frock at PRINCE’s Golden Globe Awards after-party on Monday night (15JAN07).
A representative for PETA claims the group has alternative plans in case their faux Glow Girl is discovered, saying, "If her cover is blown, you can be sure that PETA has something else up its sleeve.
"It’s all part of PETA’s relentless campaign to campaign to convince the MONSTER-IN-LAW star to stop flaunting pelts."

Pop star MICHAEL JACKSON’s brother RANDY has been hospitalised in Switzerland after suffering a heart attack, according to media reports in the US.
Randy, nicknamed Little Randy, is the ninth out of ten children and is the youngest son in the Jackson family.
According to FoxNews.com, Jackson insiders say Randy, who worked as Michael’s manager and adviser during his child molestation trial, is just "exhausted".

LATEST: Rocker MARILYN MANSON is trying to block any future claim of spousal support from estranged wife DITA VON TEESE in divorce papers filed today (19JAN07).
Manson also lists the date of separation from the burlesque dancer as Halloween (31OCT06) - not Christmas Eve (24DEC06) as she claimed.
Both Manson, 38, and Von Teese, 34, cite "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split. Manson attempted to block any claims of spousal support, although Von Teese currently has not asked for any. He also wants her to pay her own legal fees, while she is seeking to have him pay for the divorce.
Von Teese filed for divorce on 29 December (06), after just over a year of marriage.

A group of 400 trainee British police officers will handcuff themselves together in a bid to set a world record.
The recruits from Hendon Police Training College, in north London, are thought to be the first to attempt a mass handcuffing.
College staff and local school children will join the trainees to form the giant human chain.
A spokesperson for the college told Reuters: "No one has done this before. It will be a world first - and with real police handcuffs not plastic ties. So I hope they have all the keys too." The event is being held to raise money for charity and is expected to last 30 minutes.

A US man accidentally set fire to his house while attempting to get rid of a bees’ nest.
Franklyn Pigott, from Florida, made a homemade concoction of Real Kill Indoor Fogger mixed with WD-40 to kill off the unwanted guests.
The bees had built a nest between the drywall and the vinyl cladding on the outside of his home.
Unfortunately the mixture became a "flame-thrower" and melted the exterior cladding of Pigott’s house.
The accident caused Pigott $500 worth of damage, but he reportedly killed all the bees.

European men are flocking to Bulgaria to buy a ‘breast-boosting beer’ for their wives and girlfriends.
Boza used to be very expensive to bring across European boarders because of the added duty tax, but now the country has joined the EU the tax has been abolished.
The millet-ale is made from fermented wheat flour and yeast and is said to have special breast enhancing properties.
Romanian customer Constantin Barbu travelled to the Bulgarian border town of Ruse to buy a case of the beer.
He said: "I’ve bought a case for my wife to try out. I really hope I see an improvement."

A German shoplifter has paid back the Norwegian shop he stole from 36 years ago.
The unnamed man sent a note to the mayor of the mountain town of Lom confessing he stole $15 worth of goods in 1970 and enclosed a cheque for $375 for the shopkeeper.
The confession read: "For many years, my conscience has bothered me. With the enclosed cheque, I hope to free myself from that and request your help.
"I would also like to ask for forgiveness for the wrong I did so long ago." The man said he remembered the store as "a souvenir shop with a big parking lot".
Mayor Simen Bjoergen managed to track down Gabriel Lund, 78, who owned the Fjoset gift shop in 1970. Lund gave the cheque to the local residential home.

An obese US cat was pulled to safety after getting stuck in a doggy door.
Jadwiga Drozdek, from Oregon, couldn’t understand why the food she left out for her six cats was disappearing so quickly, until one day she discovered a 20.2 pound stray cat lodged in her garage door. Drozdek said: "I heard quite a ruckus when I went into my garage. It was hilarious to see this big cat struggling to get in. I helped him out of the door and gave him a plate of food on the patio." Drozdek took the "unusually large" animal to the Oregon Humane Society, where he was given the nickname ‘Goliath’.
The Humane Society had planned to put the cat up for adoption, but a neighbour of Goliath’s owner has come forward saying the cat went missing six months ago.

A US senator has filed a bill to stop gamblers being given credit while drunk.
Indianapolis Senator Brent Waltz, R-Greenwood filed Senate Bill 31 after a man sued the Caesars Indiana casino, claiming he was visibly drunk when given several credit advances totalling $75,000. Waltz’s bill would require that customers take a breath test and have a blood-alcohol level of no more than 0.08 percent - the level at which drivers are considered drunk - to borrow more than $1,000.
He said: "My bill in no way, shape or form impedes a person’s ability to gamble. This just says if you’re going to borrow money from the casino, you need to be sober to do it."

A wealthy Portuguese loner has left his fortune to 70 strangers he picked from a phone book.
Luis Carlos de Noronha Cabral da Camara – who was unmarried and had no children - died of natural causes aged 42 and his assets were split according to the unusual will he wrote up in front of two witnesses 13 years ago.
One of the recipients of the will, Anibal Castro Vila, told Portuguese local newspaper Sol: "I am sure he just wanted to create confusion by leaving his belongings to strangers. That amused him." The estate, which is yet to be divided, includes a 12-room apartment in the centre of Lisbon, a house near the historic northern town of Guimaraes, a car and nearly 25,000 euros.
According to neighbours da Camara was a solitary man who liked to listen to music and read.

An elderly US woman unwittingly helped a bank robber escape the scene of a crime.
Juanita Bland, 75, became stuck inside her minivan – which was parked near a post office in Coraopolis, Pennsylvanian - when the motorised door jarred, so she motioned to a passer-by to help.
According to police the helper had in fact just robbed a PNC Bank Branch.
After helping with the door, the man asked for a lift and Bland drove him a few blocks, before he jumped out and got into a white sedan.
Bland only realised her good Samaritan was a wanted man when a friend called to say she had heard that the suspect had been spotted getting into her van.
Bland said: "When I think back now of what could have happened, I feel blessed that I’m OK."

UK firefighters have been ordered to stop using ladders.
Officials at Humberside Fire and Rescue Service have banned staff from using household ladders to fit fire alarms, in case they fall.
Bosses say using equipment borrowed from householders is breaking new health and safety laws.
One firefighter told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: "Going up ladders is second nature to us. It’s crazy. We’re more at risk decorating at home." Another said: "Where will this end? Will we still be able to carry a rescued person down a ladder or enter a burning building without health and safety on our back?"

Thai zookeepers have put a panda on a diet to make him more sexually desirable to his female mate.
Staff at Chiang Mai Zoo are desperate to get Chuang Chuang to procreate with female Lin Hui, but his partner has been turned off by his growing waistline. Zoo spokesman Kanika Limtrakul said: "Chuang Chuang is gaining weight too fast, and we found Lin Hui is no longer comfortable having sex with him." To keep the pounds off, zookeepers have cut bamboo shoots out of Chuang’s diet and are only feeding him bamboo leaves.
Staff have been trying for months to get the endangered species to mate. They even tried getting Chuang to watch pornography.

Hotel heiress PARIS HILTON reportedly visited a plastic surgeon in Los Angeles earlier this week (begs15JAN07) in a bid to fix her ‘drooping’ left eyelid.
The 25-year-old was allegedly left with muscle damage in her left eye after a botched eyelid lift operation six years ago (01), and the damage has reportedly been worsened by her fondness for wearing blue-tinted contact lenses over her naturally brown eyes. ANGELINA JOLIE jumped at the chance to play a sexy and "dirty" role in a sequel to comic-book film SIN CITY, after months of good-behaviour enforced by pregnancy.

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has been allowed to keep a wildlife-watching pavilion in the grounds of his East Sussex home, despite flouting strict planning permission laws.
Officials on England’s Rother District Council yesterday (18JAN06) gave their retrospective consent for the $1.9 million (£1 million) hut, which was built by the former BEATLE three years ago in the grounds of his 933-acre Peasmarsh estate and was often used as a hideaway by estranged wife HEATHER MILLS.
McCartney offered to remove the cabin - set on stone piers and featuring an outdoor observation deck - but councillors in Rother were keen to save the building, which officials have now deemed as "an acceptable design within the area of natural outstanding beauty".
Woodlands Farm, where McCartney built the cabin, has been his family home for more than 25 years.

ANGELINA JOLIE has hit out at US President GEORGE W BUSH, accusing him of turning the world against America.
Jolie, who spends much of her time travelling the world helping the poor as an ambassador for the United Nations, insists her work has become harder since Bush was re-elected - because no-one she meets can understand why Americans voted for him.
She says, "When I travel, people feel uncomfortable when I say I’m American.

PETE DOHERTY’s band BABYSHAMBLES have landed a longterm deal with the Parlophone record label following the success of their THE BLINDING EP last year (06).
Bosses at the British record company, which signed THE BEATLES in 1962, dismissed reports of a multi-album deal last year - but the two parties finally tied up a contract earlier this week (begs15JAN06).
A Babyshambles statement reads, "Both management and the band are thrilled to have signed this deal and look forward to a long, fruitful, and creative relationship with Parlophone." Parlophone Managing Director MILES LEONARD says, "We’re extremely pleased to be welcoming such a vibrant and talented band into the Parlophone label.
"Babyshambles, justifiably, have a great reputation for crafting some of the most exciting music around today, and in Peter Doherty they have one of the best songwriters of his generation.
