MIRREN WINS AGAIN
DAME HELEN MIRREN’s winning streak continues - she won the Arts Category at the Morgan Stanley Great Britons Awards in London last night (18JAN07).
The awards are designed to recognise achievement by Britons in the past year (06) - and THE QUEEN actress picked up the top award in her established field.
However, The PRIME SUSPECT star wasn’t the main winner on the night.
Professor SIR ALEC JEFFREYS was named Great Briton of the Year for his work in genetic fingerprinting.
It’s not the first award Mirren has won big this week (begs15JAN07). The actress claimed Best Actress (Drama) honour for her role as ELIZABETH II in The Queen, and the Best Actress In A Mini-series for her royal portrayal in ELIZABETH I at the 64th Golden Globes Awards on Monday (15).
