THE BLACK EYED PEAS star FERGIE is trying to keep her engagement a secret by hiding her ring in her handbag when she’s out in public.
The LONDON BRIDGE singer accepted boyfriend JOSH DUHAMEL’s wedding proposal just before Christmas (06), according to US reports, but she doesn’t want to make the happy news public until they have set a wedding date.
America’s Life & Style magazine claims Fergie, real name STACY FERGUSON, was showing off her four-carat diamond engagement ring at a pre-Christmas party at film producer MICHAEL BAY’s home on 15 December (06) - but has kept it hidden ever since.
Duhamel’s representative have denied the engagement news, but a friend of the couple tells Life & Style magazine, "They don’t want to announce the engagement until they set a wedding date, but Fergie can’t wait to marry Josh." Sources suggest the couple are considering a European wedding next summer (08). An insider says, "She wants a big, formal wedding."

Peaches, the daughter of Sir Bob Geldof, has blasted the fashion icon, branding her outfits "scary".
She told Britain’s New magazine: "I think Victoria Beckham dresses really badly - it’s too scary. It looks like she makes such an effort. It’s embarrassing. She tries so hard to be fashionable." Outspoken Peaches also thinks the former Spice Girl - who is married to soccer star David Beckham - is too thin and promotes an unhealthy body image to women.
The 17-year-old said: "The fact that she’s too skinny - that’s also scary. I think skinny celebrities are the victims of the media because magazines like Vogue sell because they put out an unhealthy image of women. Women think, ‘Maybe if I buy this dress from Gucci I can look like that, maybe if I buy these shoes I can look taller like that.’"

The country singer, the husband of Nicole Kidman, has been released from the Betty Ford clinic where he was being treated for alcoholism and was seen out with his wife at the private CAA Golden Globes after-party on Monday night (15.01.07).
Urban’s representative Paul Freundlich said: "He has been officially released from the facility and will launch his world tour with a short run of club shows in the UK and Germany in April." The tour is to promote his latest album ‘Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing’ which was released in November, after the 39-year-old had entered rehab.
Despite his lack of promotional work for the LP, the album reached Number 1 in the US country chart.
Tour dates are yet to be finalised, but after the club shows Urban will play in several arenas in Australia in May and some dates in the US and Canada in June.
The singer checked into rehab on October 19 last year, but was released for the Christmas holidays to spend time with his family, when he flew to Sydney with Kidman.
Urban - who was brought up in Australia - married the ‘Cold Mountain’ star in Sydney in June last year. The couple then moved to Nashville.

The aspiring rapper, the estranged husband of Britney Spears, has been hired by Nationwide Insurance to star in one of their advertisements. The advert is set to run during some of the most expensive airtime on US television.
Male model Fabio Lanzoni and MC Hammer have both previously endorsed the company and both were featured in ads which mocked their own image.
Nationwide Insurance’s motto is, "Life comes at you fast".
A source is quoted by gossip website TMZ.com as saying: "If the old ads are anything to go by Kevin will definitely be making fun of himself.
"No one knows what the subject of the commercial will be yet but it could be to do with his split with Britney, or their custody battle over the kids." Britney - who has two sons with Kevin, 16-month-old Sean Preston and 4-month-old Jayden James - filed for divorce last November.
The couple are believed to have signed a pre-nuptial agreement so Kevin - who was previously a backing dancer on the singer’s tour - is not expected to make any financial gain from the divorce.
Both are seeking full custody of their sons.

Troubled rocker PETE DOHERTY has been given a boost in his battle against drug addiction, after the judge overlooking his treatment today (17JAN07) said she is "optimistic" he will beat his demons.
The BABYSHAMBLES frontman, 27 - who is engaged to British supermodel KATE MOSS - appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court in east London to attend a review of his drug rehabilitation progress.
He was ordered to take part in the treatment programme after pleading guilty to drug possession charges in April last year (06).
District Judge JANE McIVOR said, "I would like to think it’s more optimistic than the last review in October (06). But it’s a long process and there are another nine months to go.
"This is more optimistic but we cannot take the pressure off. It takes day-to-day effort." Judge McIvor’s comments came after Doherty’s doctor spoke of the "great effort" the singer was making to overcome his addiction.
Doherty reflects, "It’s like she said, really it’s just time. For the first time I am actually turning up for appointments in a coherent state. It’s just a really positive time for me at the moment." He is due back in court for another review on 18 April (07).

Indian actor SHAH RUKH KHAN will become the third Bollywood star to be immortalised in wax at world famous London museum Madame Tussauds.
The 41-year-old’s likeness will be unveiled at the British capital’s tourist attraction this Easter (APR07).
Khan’s waxwork will join fellow Indian actors AISHWARYA RAI and AMITABH BACHCHAN.
A Madame Tussauds statement reads: “Khan will take part in a sitting with Tussauds Studios sculptors in February for an unveiling at Easter.”

Adult movie star JENNA JAMESON is to turn her life story into a movie, with LOST IN TRANSLATION actress SCARLETT JOHANSSON her first choice as leading lady.
Jameson released her autobiography HOW TO MAKE LOVE LIKE A PORN STAR: A CAUTIONARY TALE in August 2004, which details her career from its start in 1993 right through to her marriage to second husband, JAY GRDINA, from whom she filed for divorce on 12 December 2006.

JARVIS COCKER has volunteered to write a future UK entry for the Eurovision Song Contest - but refuses to go up against MORRISSEY, who is in talks to pen his own song for the competition.
Former PULP frontman Cocker, who recently released his debut solo album, is interested in helping his home country win the critically-panned contest.
However, he doesn’t want to prevent ex-THE SMITHS singer Morrissey from writing his own Eurovision song.
Cocker says, "I’m not going to compete with Mozzer if he’s going to do it.
I’m sure he’ll write something good.
"The door is always open if they want to ask me. I’ve always wanted to write one for them. Maybe I’ll do it next year."
