JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE and CAMERON DIAZ’s amicable split took a turn for the worse on Monday night (15JAN07) when the former couple had a heated public argument at PRINCE’s Golden Globes afterparty.
The pair released a joint statement last week (11JAN07) announcing they were no longer together after dating for nearly four years.

JESSICA SIMPSON is taking secret cookery lessons so she can serve up a home-cooked meal to boyfriend JOHN MAYER on St Valentine’s Day (14FEB07).
The famously ditzy singer/actress is planning to show off her culinary skills during a planned 10 February (07) get-together with Mayer, who will be touring on St Valentine’s Day itself.
A source tells Life & Style magazine, "She’s been taking cooking classes and poring over cookbooks, trying to come up with the perfect meal. I think John will be impressed." JESSICA SIMPSON’s ex-husband NICK LACHEY has proposed to his girlfriend VANESSA MINNILLO, according to press reports in the US.
The engagement comes just over a year after Lachey, 33, and Simpson, 26, announced they were divorcing.
A source tells American publication the National Enquirer, "They’re moving forward with plans for an April (07) wedding.
"Since they both love Baja, Mexico, it will probably happen south of the border, where they first fell in love." The couple were first photographed together on a romantic holiday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico last June (06).

Camp US soap opera PASSIONS has been cancelled after nearly eight years on the air. The daytime soap, which launched in July 1999, was known for its supernatural storylines and attracted a young fan base.
The show is expected to continue until June (07), but may be extended to August (07) if contracts with the cast and producers can be extended. The show is set in the town of Harmony and at various times featured characters such as TIMMY, the doll-turned-human, and TABITHA, a 300-year-old witch.

JERRY MAGUIRE star REGINA KING is considering baring all on the big screen to play 17th century African leader QUEEN NZINGHA.
The actress has steered clear of movie nudity, but accepts she’ll have to give up her modesty if she is to portray her historical heroine.
She explains, "I really would love to, before it’s all over, play Queen Nzingha, and I think it would be hard to portray a real person during that time period and not show some nudity.
"(Nzingha’s) so powerful and I mean this woman fought the Portuguese during a time when women were not rulers. She was probably one of the first."

SALMA HAYEK will get an early wake-up call next Tuesday (23JAN07) after signing up to announce the Oscar nominations live at 5am in Hollywood.
The sexy star will join SID GANIS, the President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills to read out the 2007 Oscars list.

Cult movie-maker KEVIN SMITH has signed up to play a "master hacker" called THE WARLOCK in the new DIE HARD movie LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD.
The CLERKS director joins BRUCE WILLIS, TIMOTHY OLYPHANT and JUSTIN LONG in the fourth installment of the action film franchise.
Smith tells moviehole.net, "I’m exposition guy. Like, I’m the dude who gives them all sorts of information." But Smith assures Die Hard fans that director LEN WISEMAN isn’t planning any big surprises - he just wants to make a film that’s as good as the other three movies.
He adds, "That seemed to be a running note that they would give themselves on set. With any particular line they would go, ‘That’s not Die Hard, let’s make it more Die Hard.’" And the UNDERWORLD film-maker really impressed Smith with his on-set techniques.
The DOGMA director admits, "Len Wiseman is a good director, in as much as he’ll shoot 180 different angles of the same scene. Me, I’d have been done with that scene in one day… I would have set up one camera, it would have happened in front of it, and we would have been done."

Famed photographer ANNIE LIEBOVITZ was reportedly less than impressed with Oscar-winner ANGELINA JOLIE’s diva-like behaviour during a recent photo shoot for Vogue magazine.
Jolie appeared on the January 2007 cover of the US edition of the magazine in a flowing red dress in the middle of the Californian desert.
A source tells American publication Us Weekly that at the cover shoot for the magazine the 31-year-old star "was a nightmare.
"It became all about Angelina fussing over her hair and makeup. Annie and Angelina did not get along because of it."

DAME HELEN MIRREN refuses to battle awards show nerves with alcohol - because she is afraid she’ll embarrass herself.
The British star, who picked up two Golden Globe Awards on Monday night (15JAN07) for her performances in THE QUEEN and ELIZABETH I, admits she gets tipsy easily, and would never want to appear intoxicated onstage - even though a few glasses of wine would help calm her nerves.
She explains, "It’s a bit of a roller coaster ride… and you can’t drink. I can’t anyway. I’m too scared to drink and then make a t*t of myself. It’s much too scary to do that. "Some of the award shows you do there is alcohol on the table, there’s wine and things. You have one afterwards and drown your sorrows usually.
"I’ve lost a lot of awards in my life. I’m brilliant at going, ‘Oh, I’m so glad she won! She’s fantastic! I’m a worm by comparison! I don’t deserve it at all! I don’t know why I’m here!’" Mirren also refuses to eat at glitzy awards shows, adding, "You’re too nervous and excited and insecure; you don’t want beans in your teeth."

LATEST: Gay GREY’S ANATOMY star TR KNIGHT has labelled castmate ISAIAH WASHINGTON a liar after speaking out about the actor’s ‘faggot’ slur on US TV.
Washington stunned castmates in the press room at the Golden Globe Awards on Monday night (15JAN07) when he grabbed a microphone and insisted he never used the derogatory word on the set, later calling it "vile".
But angry Knight, who was forced to reveal his homosexuality after word spread of Washington’s outburst towards him - and his subsequent on-set punch-up with fellow TV surgeon PATRICK DEMPSEY, is keen to set the record straight.
During a taping of ELLEN DeGENERES’ talk show yesterday (16JAN07), which will air in the US later today (17JAN07), Knight revealed Washington did use the ‘f’ word.
The actor said, "He referred to me as a faggot… Everyone heard it… I’ve never been called that to my face.
"I think, when that happened, something shifted and it became bigger… than myself… I could’ve just let it slide and not said anything but it became important." Knight admits he was stunned when Washington used the ‘f’ word again on Monday night - in an effort to insist he had never used the term.
He adds, "He denied that he said it… I don’t know what to say, really, about that… but it’s pretty bad." Knight’s pals are on his side - castmate KATHERINE HEIGL fought back angry tears during an interview on US news show ACCESS HOLLYWOOD after Washington’s Golden Globes gaffe, and hissed, "He needs to just not speak in public.

Rockers the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS have scored a new US record after claiming their 11th Modern Rock Radio Chart number one with new single SNOW (HEY OH).
The California four-piece become the first group to land more than 10 number ones on the chart.
Their latest feat also adds to the group’s record for the most weeks at number one on the Modern Rock Radio Chart - they’ve now spent 77 weeks on top.
1999’s SCAR TISSUE claimed 16 of the 77 weeks alone, and remains the song with the longest run at number one.

It’s a good week to be a DREAMGIRL - two days after the film picked up three Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, the movie’s soundtrack has beaten off all challengers to stay on top of the US album charts.
But it isn’t all good news - after registering the lowest sales total for a number one last week (10JAN07), the soundtrack scored a new low on the next chart, by selling 6,000 copies fewer (60,000).
AKON’s KONVICTED holds on to the number two spot, while JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE rises to number three with FUTURESEX/LOVESOUNDS.
The highest new entry on the chart belongs to the soundtrack of Disney movie JUMP IN, which debuts at number five.

Music legend DIANA ROSS hasn’t had time to see the hit film DREAMGIRLS, which is loosely based on her life as a member of THE SUPREMES, but she is making time to appear on her favourite TV show AMERICAN IDOL.
The 62-year-old will appear on the US reality competition during the show’s sixth season, which started yesterday (16JAN07).
She explains, "I’m going to do American Idol. I’m going to be a diva-mentor and I’m going to mentor some of the young people, then I’m going to tour right after - March, April, I’ll be on the road again." JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE is auditioning five aspiring singers vying for a chance to sing onstage with him at the Grammy Awards next month (FEB07).
The contestants are part of "My Grammy Moment" - a national competition in the US to select a partner to duet with Timberlake live onstage on 11 February (07).
The top five contestants have been selected and are currently working with the MY LOVE singer in Los Angeles.
He says, "I’m impressed. Just hearing them sing. It’s one thing to be able to sing, but to hear them all singing together means they have great ears and to be a great singer you have to have a great ear. "They’re going to go through a crash course on what it takes in the industry to be taken seriously." The top three finalists will rehearse with Timberlake during Grammy week at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, but only one will share the spotlight on the show. Music fans can vote online during the live Grammy telecast and decide the winner, who will be announced right before they go onstage.

LATEST: Embattled rapper FOXY BROWN received a good probation report from a Manhattan, New York criminal court judge today (17JAN07).
Brown, real name INGA MARCHAND, was sentenced to three years’ probation and anger management classes for engaging in a fight in a nail salon.
The 26-year-old has had several hostile court exchanges with Judge MELISSA JACKSON in the past, but she was thrilled with her latest comments. Brown said, "This is only the first time in two years that I’m pleased with Judge Jackson. She got an excellent report from probation." The singer says the sentence has been good for her "because probation forces you into structure. It is making me grow up. I have matured a lot since I started the anger management." Brown is scheduled to return to court on 15 March (07).
