GREASE IS THE WORD AS TICKET SALES SOAR
American theatre fans love the taste of GREASE it seems - advance sales for the upcoming musical revival have passed the $1 million (£513,000) mark in just two days.
The production won’t open on Broadway until 24 July (07), but that hasn’t deterred fans, who have been amped up for the revival by a new US TV talent search to find the show’s leading man and lady.
The producers of reality contest YOU’RE THE ONE THAT I WANT hope to find their SANDY and DANNY from thousands of hopefuls who have auditioned for the roles played on the big screen by OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN and JOHN TRAVOLTA.
The show’s Sunday (07JAN07) night premiere was watched by 11.6 million viewers.
