WAGNER LOSES CHARLIE’S ANGELS COURT BATTLE
Actor ROBERT WAGNER’s claim for millions of dollars in profits from the CHARLIE’S ANGELS movies has been rejected by a Los Angeles appeals court.
The AUSTIN POWERS star claimed he was entitled to a share of the proceeds from 2000’s CHARLIE’S ANGELS and 2003’s CHARLIE’S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE because he’d helped to develop the 1970s US TV show on which they were based.
However, a three-judge panel of the Los Angeles Court of Appeal dismissed Wagner’s claim yesterday (8JAN07), upholding the 2005 decision of a lower court.
The two Charlie’s Angels films, starring CAMERON DIAZ, DREW BARRYMORE and LUCY LIU, made more than $500 million (£257 million) at the box office worldwide.
