‘SNEAKY’ PETE KLEINOW DIES

Former FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS steel guitarist ‘SNEAKY’ PETE KLEINOW has died at the age of 72.
Kleinow died on Saturday (6JAN07) at a convalescent home in Petaluma, California. He was suffering with Alzheimer’s disease. Kleinow founded the Flying Burrito Brothers with Byrds rocker CHRIS HILLMAN in 1968, and he later enjoyed a career as a session musician, recording with singer-songwriters JOHN LENNON, JONI MITCHELL and JACKSON BROWNE.
He also worked as an animator and special effects artist, winning an Emmy award in 1983 for his work on the miniseries THE WINDS OF WAR.
Kleinow is survived by his wife ERNESTINE, his daughters ANITA and TAMMY, and his sons AARON, COSMO and MARTIN.
