The woman who discovered BILLIE PIPER fears for the mental condition of the former DOCTOR WHO star after she blasted her drama school in recent autobiography GROWING PAINS.
The founder of the famous British children’s performing art centre SYLVIA YOUNG ART SCHOOL was stunned to hear Piper’s critical account of her time at the academy - and insists she never recalled the actress being anything but happy during her time there.
In a chapter entitled ‘Sylvia Young Theatre School For The Perversely Dramatic’, Piper claims her time there was spent with "stinking rich kids" and pupils could not only "get away with bad behaviour, but they were off the scale".
SYLVIA YOUNG refutes the claims however, saying, "I am very worried about Billie. I really wonder if there’s something wrong, because to me, my staff and even Billie’s former classmates, this sounds nothing like the girl we knew, nor the experiences we know she had here. Several of Billie’s contemporaries have told me that they’re horrified by what has appeared.
"She makes reference to her being a poor girl among lots of ’stinking rich’ kids, but 80 per cent of the pupils in her class were given assistance from us to attend. I am genuinely bewildered."

New MEL GIBSON movie APOCALYPTO has smashed British box office records by taking the highest ever opening weekend ticket sales for a foreign language film.
The bloodthirsty feature, spoken in Mayan dialect, took £1,360,110 ($2,652,215) from 385 sites around the UK last weekend (05-07JAN07).
Previous record holders were HERO with £1,050,000 ($2,047,500), CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON (£686,000/£1,337,700) and AMELIE (£559,000/$109,005).

The manager of late CROCODILE HUNTER star STEVE IRWIN denies his daughter BINDI is being pushed into an unwanted TV career.
JOHN STAINTON, who manages the entire Irwin family, insists the eight-year-old is allowed to turn down any TV appearance she doesn’t want to do.

Celebrity private eye ANTHONY PELLICANO has been given permission by a US federal judge to defend himself in court against accusations of wire-tapping.
The 62-year-old is alleged to have breached the privacy of Hollywood stars like SYLVESTER STALLONE and KEITH CARRADINE in order to make threats and blackmail people.
Pellicano, who’s accused of bugging phones and bribing police officers to perform background checks on 60 people, said on Friday (05JAN07) he’s too poor to pay a lawyer to represent him in court.
His former solicitor, STEVEN GRUEL, claims he hasn’t been paid by Pellicano.
NICOLE KIDMAN has also been questioned as part of the investigation, after voice recordings of the actress speaking to ex-husband TOM CRUISE were found when Pellicano’s offices were first raided in 2002.
The trial will begin on 22 August (07), after US District Judge DALE FISCHER pushed the start date back in November (06) to give the FBI more time for investigation.

JAMES CAMERON is to make new movie AVATAR, his first film since 1997’s Oscar-winning blockbuster TITANIC.
Fox Filmed Entertainment has confirmed Cameron is to start virtual photography on the sci-fi epic in April (07), followed by live-action work in August (07), ahead of a summer 2009 release.
Cameron has also written the screenplay for the movie, which tells the story of a wounded marine who is sent to the faraway planet of Pandora against his wishes, and finds himself caught up in a battle of survival with the planet’s inhabitants.
The 52-year-old has spent years researching and developing the new filming techniques needed to create the movie’s $190 million (£98 million) hybrid of action and animation, and he claims he’s been "the busiest unemployed director in Hollywood".
He vows, "We’re going to blow you to the back wall of the theatre in a way you haven’t seen for a long time. My goal is to rekindle those amazing mystical moments my generation felt when we first saw 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY or the next generation’s STAR WARS. It took me 10 years to find something hard enough to be interesting."

The homes of Hollywood stars including MEL GIBSON, PIERCE BROSNAN, PAMELA ANDERSON, BARBRA STREISAND and COURTENEY COX-ARQUETTE were threatened by a fire which raced through their exclusive Californian neighbourhood last night (08JAN07).
The blaze charred 20 acres (81,000 square metres) of land in Malibu, California, destroying a guest house and causing significant damage to four other houses, before being contained by fire officials just after 8pm local time.
Fire officials haven’t released the names of the property owners whose homes were damaged in the blaze although actress VICTORIA PRINCIPAL was among the residents who rushed out to hose down her home after the fire was reported at about 5pm.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.

LATEST: An Italian court has banned children under 14 from seeing harrowing new MEL GIBSON movie APOCALYPTO, overthrowing a decision by the country’s censors deeming the film fit for kids.
The Italian censors had been widely criticised for failing to impose any age restriction on the film, which features graphic scenes of decapitation and mutilation, but the court has now laid down a temporary ban pending a hearing on 17 January (07).
MARCO RAMADORI, a lawyer for Codacons, the consumer group who successfully campaigned for the age restriction, says, "Even before hearing our arguments, they’ve slapped the ban to safeguard minors." Russia is now the only country screening the film without any form of age restriction.

THE STROKES guitarist NICK VALENSI feared for his wife’s health when pregnancy saw her develop uncomfortable complications.
The rocker and his British socialite spouse AMANDA DE CADENET welcomed twins in October (06) but she reveals the lead-up to their birth was extremely painful.
She recalls, "I hoped it would get better, but it went from bad to worse. I developed fluid retention so my arms and feet swelled really badly. I had carpal tunnel syndrome and couldn’t feel my hands from the elbow down.
"Towards the end I was so huge that I almost had to be rolled out of bed. I didn’t see my feet for months. I couldn’t sleep any my whole body itched. By the end I could only sleep standing up in the shallow end of the swimming pool, because water alleviated the weight of the babies.
"I’d put a towel on the poolside and just put my head down."

Each participant will be paired with an artist who will hand paint their ideas.
When the campaign ends in September (07), the guitars will go under the hammer to raise money for The Prince’s Trust, Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Weller says, "I am proud to be associated with the Gibson Guitar Town London campaign as it combines my passion and appreciation for the guitar whilst raising money and awareness for three very worthy and deserving charities."

LATEST: English singer AMY WINEHOUSE has owned up to an alcohol dependency after reportedly rushing off stage during a London gig last weekend (06JAN07) to be sick.
The REHAB star played just one song at club night GAY at the British capital’s Astoria venue before she clutched her stomach and swiftly left the stage. According to British newspapers, Winehouse had spent the day drinking with her friend KELLY OSBOURNE.
But despite admitting her fondness for booze, Winehouse refuses to seek professional help.
She says, "That (rehab) works for some people, but for some it doesn’t. I’ve got a few mates who are in and out all the time but I’m of the school of thought that if you can’t sort something our for yourself, no one can help you out.
"I do think drinking long-term is a lot worse than doing heroin or something - alcohol’s a real poison. At certain times, I think, ‘I’ve got to have a drink. I can’t get through this.’ But I’m not going to drink tonight. I know it sounds bad, but it is a one day at a time thing.
"The other day was the first day in ages I didn’t drink, and the next day I was like a little baby squirrel - all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. My boyfriend said, ‘You’re so pretty. You look like a baby mouse!’"

Hip-hop star 50 CENT has hit out at claims his G-Unit company is on the brink of collapse, maintaining a slip in album sales is nothing to worry about.
The rapper recently announced plans to expand the company with a gritty street fiction range of books, but the unusual move has led some to question the company’s direction, and whether the hip-hop novellas can compensate for recent poor record sales.
But 50 Cent is adamant his efforts can save the company.

In an interview with US magazine W, Craig said: "She turns me on. Not in a sordid, horrible way.well, come to think of it."
