GIBSON’S GIRLFRIEND INSISTS ASSAULT REPORT WAS OVERBLOWN
LATEST: Singer/rapper TYRESE GIBSON’s pregnant girlfriend is trying to play down the domestic fight that prompted her to call police last week (04JAN07), insisting reports were distorted.
The 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS star reportedly punched the unnamed woman twice in the stomach during a row.
Police and paramedics were called to the Hancock Park, Los Angeles home Gibson shares with his girlfriend and took the pregnant woman to hospital after she started "throwing up".
Gibson had fled the scene before the authorities arrived and they immediately launched an investigation.
Now, speaking through her attorney, the woman, who has not filed charges against Gibson, insists that although she was "emotional and distressed" during the argument and called the emergency services, the police report about the incident was overblown.
In a statement, obtained by website TMZ.com, her lawyer says, "Reports that Tyrese punched my client in the arm, thigh or anywhere else are false. It is true, Mr Gibson and his girlfriend had been arguing.
"When the paramedics arrived, concerned about the baby, they took her to the hospital. Fortunately, she was fine. Once at the hospital, she was asked by a nurse whether she had been assaulted. She said no… She then discharged herself.
"Mr Gibson and his girlfriend are very much still in love… She is quite saddened that this event was so distorted."
