Mexican actor GAEL GARCIA BERNAL refuses to allow Hollywood stereotypes of central American countries anger him.
Instead, the MOTORCYCLE DIARIES star believes local filmmakers should strive to put forward the representation of their nation they wish the world to see.
He says, "Depends on the day. Depends how you’re feeling. Usually, you don’t give a s**t. It’s just movies.
"You’re aware of those images, but you don’t want to give them undue importance. Should we start a revolution because people are making bad films about us? "We should instead make our own movies, and make them good. Indirectly, a film like BABEL is the best way of balancing things."

BROWN’S WIDOW BLASTS REPORTS SHE NO LONGER LOVED SOUL STAR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:02 pm

The widow of late soul legend JAMES BROWN has blasted reports she and her husband were bitter enemies in the weeks leading up to his death - declaring they were just "passionate." TOMI RAE HYNIE was fighting a painkiller addiction in rehab in Los Angeles when Brown died on Christmas Day (25DEC06) and dashed to Atlanta, Georgia to be by Brown’s side when she heard the news of his passing.
Now, she’s dismissing reports her marriage was virtually over and she told Brown she no longer loved him in the weeks before his death.
This came after a string of odd incidents during the couple’s almost five-year marriage, including a domestic dispute which landed the soul star in jail and a full-page ad Brown took out in trade magazine Variety, announcing the break-up of his marriage.
Hynie says, "We had an argument on an airplane and he wrote that (break-up announcement) on the airplane and called his secretary… and told her to put it in there. He said it was great publicity." But Brown’s widow insists she truly loved the soul man, despite his reputation for being difficult.
She adds, "We stayed together. That was our relationship… We did fight. We did get violent. We did get physical. And I’m not going to put it all on him.
"But we made up and we were passionate. We loved each other, you know? And we weren’t saints. We partied. We had good times. We had bad times."

SNOOP CAUGHT UP IN REALITY TV LEGAL BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:01 pm

Rapper SNOOP DOGG is at the centre of a new lawsuit after promising to star in a reality TV project surrounding his involvement with a youth football league, but without revealing his other interests in an additional sporting sideline.
Bosses for the New York-based Natural Resources Media & Technology Group claim they made a deal with the rapper over the show concept without knowing about a pre-existing deal with 20th Century Fox, which wanted to develop a feature film about Snoop’s coaching exploits.
The deal the plaintiffs signed off on was one that give them exclusive television, cable and video rights.
But, almost as soon as filming started, Fox attorneys issued a cease and desist warning to the producers, informing them of their "exclusive rights to portray Snoop in any motion picture or television project or other production based on Snoop’s involvement with his sons’ football teams and leagues." Natural Resources boss COREY SIMMONS then allegedly informed Snoop, real name CALVIN BROADUS, that he was in breach of the contract by failing to own the rights to the concept.
Filing papers in New York last month (DEC06), Simmons and his partners are seeking $250,000 (£128,200) in damages, plus attorney’s fees.
Meanwhile, Fox is currently developing a movie, COACH SNOOP, with the rapper and actor.

STUNNED SHARPTON TRIED TO PASS OFF BROWN’S DEATH AS BAD DREAM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:00 pm

US civil rights leader REV AL SHARPTON was so stunned by the news his longtime friend and mentor JAMES BROWN had died, he tried to shake off the late-night phone call as a bad dream.
Sharpton, who referred to Brown as his second father, was the first person the soul legend’s manager CHARLES BOBBITT called when the singer passed away on Christmas Day (25DEC06) after battling pneumonia.
The family friend was on his way to South Africa when he heard the news Brown was ill in an Atlanta, Georgia hospital, but Bobbitt assured him he’d be OK in three or four days and urged him to go ahead with his travel plans.
He rang back a few hours later with grave news.
Sharpton recalls, "At three in the morning Mr Bobbitt called back and said, `Reverend Sharpton, your man is gone.’ "I, literally, rolled over and went back to sleep, trying to tell myself I had a bad dream.
"When I woke up, I realised that he was really gone and I rushed to Atlanta to meet the kids… and we began trying to do what he always told us to do if something happened." The family then asked Sharpton to preside over Brown’s funeral service, which he conducted last weekend.

BROWN’S WIDOW FEARS SHE’S LOST HOME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:00 pm

LATEST: JAMES BROWN’s widow TOMI RAE HYNIE fears she has lost the mansion she has called home for the past decade as part of a shady tax-saving move pulled off by her late husband.
Hynie turned up at the South Carolina mansion hours after her husband passed away on Christmas Day (25DEC06) to find the gates of the property padlocked.
Now she has discovered the house could be part of a property sale Brown made with his attorney, BUDDY DALLAS, to avoid a tax fine.
Speaking to CNN anchor LARRY KING on his TV chat show on Wednesday (03JAN07), she said, "He said he owned the home now because he had bought it. I remember this deal a long time ago. He said he bought it for tax purposes so that my husband wouldn’t lose it… (But) me and my five-year-old son lived there. It was our home." "Right now, the family has put it (house) into probate and they are fighting me to get into the house. They are allowing me to go in and remove my belongings. But they will not allow me to go into my home." But DEBRA OPRI, the attorney representing the Brown family, insists Hynie is making a big fuss over a home she has no right to.
She says, "The gate was locked. Tomi Rae took a camera crew down there and photographed herself throwing herself at the gate… (but) Tomi Rae’s been spending more and more time in LA." Opri states the Brown family hopes to turn the soul star’s estate into a museum, much like ELVIS PRESLEY’s Graceland home, in accordance with the soul legend’s wishes.
