The TOXIC singer has recently made worldwide headlines for her partying, pantyless antics with the paparazzi and a New Year’s eve (31DEC06) incident in which she reportedly passed out at a Las Vegas nightclub.
Spears’ manager LARRY RUDOLPH says, "She understands what’s going on right now, and she calls it her ‘rocky moment.’ Britney knows exactly what she needs to do.
"I’m not defending (her behaviour), and she’s not defending it. (With regards to New Year’s Eve) we were sitting there drinking orange juice. She got tired in a club, and we took her back to her room.
"Suddenly, I’m hearing words like ‘collapsed’ and ‘passed out.’ From what they’ve been seeing and hearing, I understand the disappointment (from fans).
"But Britney is increasingly motivated to get out there. She sees this as a challenge, that some fans may be questioning her. She is respectful. She sees this as her challenge to win them back.
"She’s taking all the right steps. Britney Spears will be back and absolutely at the top of the entertainment industry very soon."

BRITNEY SPEARS has laughed off reports she’s relaxing in an Arizona rehabilitation facility by returning to her pre-Christmas partying.
The singer reportedly checked into the Sanctuary clinic on New Year’s Day (01JAN07) after hosting a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas.
Spears’ handlers denied the story and last night (03JAN07) the fun-loving TOXIC singer was spotted out on the town in Los Angeles.

LEONARDO DiCAPRIO has"adopted" an African orphan, according to new US reports.
New York gossip columnist CINDY ADAMS claims the movie star is financially supporting a little girl he met while filming BLOOD DIAMOND in South Africa.
Adams insists the child will not live with him and DiCaprio will support her with monthly payments.
In a recent US TV interview, DiCaprio confessed he had met a special little girl while filming in Mozambique.
He told TV show EXTRA, "There was a young girl that was on the movie that I spent a lot of time with."

OPRAH WINFREY has hit back at critics who insist she should be using her money to open schools for children in the US instead of South Africa - but admits she doesn’t talk publicly about her America-based good deeds.
The media mogul opened a $40 million (£21 million) school for girls in the impoverished nation Tuesday (02JAN06) and slams critics who claim she isn’t doing enough in her own country. She says, "First of all, I am doing a lot in the United States, I just don’t talk about it.
"What is different about this country (South Africa) is that there is this desperate yearning to know better and do better that you just don’t have in the United States.
"You just don’t have it, because the opportunity has always been there.
"My idea was to understand, ‘Yes, you come from nothing. But oh, what a something you will become if given the opportunity.’"

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star NICOLLETTE SHERIDAN didn’t let co-star LUCY LIU’s martial arts training for KILL BILL intimidate her when the two filmed a fight scene for their new movie.
The pair face off in new comedy CODE NAME: THE CLEANER and Sheridan took the opportunity to really get into the action.
Liu explains Sheridan wasn’t fazed by her extensive experience saying, "She came at me - she was fierce! Actually we didn’t even have to rehearse it at all.
"We just talked about what looked best for each of us, because she’s got really long legs, she’s very flexible. I didn’t have to train for it. Usually you have to train months in advance.
"This was a last-minute fight scene. They (the producers) said, ‘You know, we should add a fight scene between the two of you - it’d be kind of fun! We had a great time."

Celebrity photographer LARRY BIRKHEAD insists he and former Playboy Playmate ANNA NICOLE SMITH conceived his daughter DANNIELYNN on New Year’s Eve 2006.
Birkhead was in Las Vegas to ring in the New Year and says the date will always be special to him because that’s when his daughter was created.
He is currently involved in a bitter paternity battle with the reality TV star, who claims the baby’s father is actually her lawyer and companion HOWARD K STERN.
Birkhead says, "I’ve always maintained from day one I was Dannielynn’s father. My little baby was actually conceived last New Year’s Eve." A judge has ordered that Smith submit the baby for DNA testing no later than 23 January (07) and there is apparently some good will remaining between the former couple. Birkhead adds, "I’ve talked to her a couple of times. I sent Christmas presents to the baby and she called and said thank you and said they were pretty."

LATEST: Former heavyweight boxing champion MIKE TYSON was charged with felony drug possession and driving under the influence of drugs yesterday (03JAN07) and may be heading back to prison.
Tyson appeared in an Arizona courtroom and the prosecutor in the case wants him sent back to prison because of his criminal background.
Maricopa County Attorney ANDREW THOMAS says, "He has run out of second chances, at least in my book." The 40-year-old was charged with two felonies for drug possession and two misdemeanour counts of driving under the influence of drugs. If convicted on all four charges, he could be sentenced to between two and seven-and-a-half years in jail.
The charges stem from his arrest Friday (29DEC06) in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he was pulled over after leaving a nightclub. According to court records, authorities found two bags of cocaine in his back pocket and another in a package of cigarettes from his car.
The boxer’s most famous brush with the law was a rape conviction that landed him in jail from 1992 to 1995 for a 1991 sexual assault on a woman in an Indiana hotel room.

BEYONCE has scored a fifth week at the top of the US singles chart with her aptly-titled IRREPLACEABLE.
The former DESTINY’S CHILD star hit the top spot at the beginning of last month (DEC06) and has been there ever since, fighting off Christmas and New Year challenges from FERGIE and AKON.
Fergie’s FERGALICIOUS moves up a spot to number two on the new chart, but topples Beyonce’s girl-power anthem on Billboard’s Pop 100 after setting a new record by selling 295,000 digital copies. The track beat SHAKIRA’s 265,000 sales record set in June (06).

JENNIFER HUDSON used her feelings of rejection after being voted off reality talent competition AMERICAN IDOL to help her land one of the lead roles in the film DREAMGIRLS.
Hudson insists she doesn’t feel any animosity towards judge SIMON COWELL, who criticised her during the competition in 2004 saying she was "out of her depth." Cowell has since admitted he was wrong about Hudson, with Hudson now refusing to rub her newfound success in his face.
She explains, "It’s not about that for me. Right now I’m just trying to enjoy the blessing that God has given me and live in the moment for what it is.
"I don’t believe in looking back, that’s in the past. It’s part of my history and I’m proud of it. But, hey, I took it as a lesson and I’ve moved on.
"I have never experienced anything to the extent of what EFFIE (her character in the film) went through, but everybody has been rejected. That was my closest rejection so I used that!"

Grammy-award winning singer SEAL was inspired to write a song for the WILL SMITH film THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS based on his own traumatic upbringing as a child.
Seal’s lyrics focus on a father’s need to "shield" his children from negative influences, and he insists writing a song for the film was a natural progression.
The singer has three children under the age of three with wife HEIDI KLUM daughter LENI, two and sons HENRY, one and six-week-old JOHAN.
The 43-year-old says the song recalls less of his own parenting experiences and reflects more about his relationship with his own father, who Seal says was abusive.
He says, "I was touched by (the film), and I could see the allegory in my own life. Will Smith’s (character) was trying to do the best he could as a father.
"He was an idealist, and I could see some of my relationship with my father in that. Any parent does that, or tries to do that. You just do the best that you can."

Rocker OZZY OSBOURNE was tricked into signing up for a rehab stint at the Betty Ford Center when his manager/wife SHARON told him the drying-out clinic had a bar.
The naive rock icon checked into the famous rehab mecca shortly after his now 22-year-old daughter KELLY was born - when his wife told him counsellors there would teach him how to drink properly.
He recalls, "Sharon told me about a place where they teach you to drink properly… I thought, `That’s it! I’ve been doing it wrong.’" Osbourne stunned the clinic’s receptionist when he walked in and asked for directions to the bar.
But the rehab stint worked and Osbourne has fought to stay sober ever since.
He says, "Some days are bad and some days are great. I get up and I pray, `Don’t let me drink today.’"

Finn confirmed to E! News that she spent time at Timberlake’s home, saying they "have been good friends for a really long time," but insists she was never alone with the singer.

The MY LOVE singer appeared on THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO on Wednesday (03JAN06) with a finger bandaged on his right hand.
When the talk show host asked about his injury, Timberlake joked, "I broke my finger. You should see the other guy! "I was filming a scene. I just did a video that we turned into kind of a short film. I was filming a scene and I got carried away and I broke my finger."

JAMES BROWN’s widow TOMI RAE HYNIE was battling a painkiller addiction in hospital when she learned her husband had died on Christmas Day (25DEC06).
Brown insisted his wife take time off to seek help for her drug problems after she became hooked on pills she was taking to help her cope with her father’s death in September (06).
Speaking on CNN chat show LARRY KING LIVE last night (03JAN07), Hynie, who sat beside a pot containing her father’s ashes throughout the interview, she said, "My husband sent me (to hospital). It was the only month off that we had.
We had been on tour for nine weeks with only four days off in between.
"We had one month off before we had to go back on tour this New Year’s Eve in New York for another four weeks.
"He (Brown) told me to go to a place and to get off the medications, to grieve my father and to get over it, because I was deeply affected. I was very close with my father.
"I was at a recovery centre… recovering from taking medications to deal with my father’s death… I was addicted to painkillers." Hynie revealed she was scheduled to meet up with Brown on the day he died after a sudden illness prompted him to call off a pre-Christmas meeting.
She added, "I was going to come and my husband said no; he didn’t want me to see him that way. He said that he wanted me to stay and he wanted me to get over my father and get off of this medication… They (doctors) told me he just had pneumonia and the doctors were working on him and he was going to be OK."

R&B star and actor TYRESE GIBSON is at the centre of a criminal investigation after punching his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach this morning (04JAN07).
Police sources in Los Angeles confirm the 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS star’s live-in girlfriend, who is five months pregnant, called police claiming the singer had punched her in the stomach twice during a heated argument.
Paramedics were immediately dispatched to the Hancock Park home the couple share. Gibson, 28, had already left the scene.
A police spokesperson says, "The girlfriend was taken to a local hospital, treated and released. There were no visible injuries."
