A man who was ordered to stay away from actress NICOLE KIDMAN for three years has been convicted of breaking a glass in a woman’s face.
MATTHEW HOOKER faces up to seven years in prison for the December 2005 incident in a San Francisco, California bar.
He argued the glass broke accidentally, but prosecutors insisted he pushed her and threw water in her face after she accused him of being rude. The victim was left with facial scars after the attack.
Hooker was convicted of mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon.
Back in 2001, he was ordered to stay away from Kidman after she claimed he had entered her home and sent her letters, offering to tutor her children.
He maintained his innocence throughout his trial, stating, "I wrote her a letter. I went by her house to ask to take her to the ballet and to take her kids to ice cream. That’s it."

BRITNEY SPEARS’ estranged husband KEVIN FEDERLINE has turned down a $25 million (£12.8 million) divorce settlement offered by the pop star, according to media reports in the US.
The former back-up dancer was reportedly looking for a $50 million (£26 million) settlement from the TOXIC singer and the mother of his two children, SEAN PRESTON and JAYDEN JAMES.
A source tells American publication Star, "Kevin says that Britney offered him $10 million (£5 million) to walk away from their marriage and to relinquish custody of their kids, but he just laughed. "Then she came back with $20 million ($10.3 million), which he turned down, too. Now he says she’s offering a whopping $25 million (£12.8 million) and that’s her final offer. He told her to take a hike!" Part of the settlement offered by Spears reportedly includes a condition that would have Federline severing his ties with his young sons.
The sources adds, "He loves his two little boys, and there’s no way he’s going to disappear from their lives."

THE SOPRANOS star MICHAEL IMPERIOLI has found a way to quit smoking - take up martial arts.
The actor, who plays mobster CHRISTOPHER MOLTISANTI in the hit TV drama, insists he’s healthier than ever, at 40, after becoming a fan of tae kwon do.
He says, "I was in terrible physical shape. I smoked a pack (of cigarettes) a day." And he was so impressed with his tae kwon do lessons, he signed his wife and kids up for classes in Manhattan, New York.
He adds, (It) has transformed our family in body, mind and spirit. It has changed us as human beings." The born-again martial arts fanatic admits his teachings have helped his acting too: "I have more focus, concentration and confidence."

THE FAST & THE FURIOUS star JORDANA BREWSTER has landed the coveted role of MRS SMITH in the upcoming TV series adaptation of action film MR & MRS SMITH.

Movie star RALPH FIENNES has been moved by a low-key five-day UNICEF mission he undertook, during which he visited AIDS-ravaged villages in rural India.
THE ENGLISH PATIENT told journalists in India earlier today (31JAN07) that he will never be able to forget the strength shown by the HIV-infected people he has met in the past week.
Fiennes has been travelling through India on behalf of UNICEF, for whom he is an ambassador.
He says, "What has moved me is not the tragedy or the shadow over these people, but the strength it brings out in them." Fiennes revealed many of the HIV-infected children he has met on his trip have been thrown out by their families once they learned they were HIV positive.
He adds, "One young man had been tested without his knowledge and now he no longer sees his children or his wife.
"Education, awareness and prevention are the key, but stigmatisation and exclusion from family is what makes people suffer most."

Hollywood film studio DreamWorks Animation and the makers of the WALLACE AND GROMIT films have severed their troubled partnership after their quirky British characters failed to catch on in the US.
The collaboration yielded Oscar-winning film WALLACE AND GROMIT: THE CURSE OF THE WERE RABBIT, featuring cheese-loving Wallace and his dog Gromit, CHICKEN RUN and FLUSHED AWAY about an upper-class rat who disappears down a toilet.
ARTHUR SHERIFF, a spokesman for the film’s British makers, Aardman Animators, said it had been "extremely hard" for their films to crack the United States. He explains, "It seems that in the US market, Wallace and Gromit are incredibly popular in the main cities, but it’s more difficult when you go to middle America. The humour is a bit more subtle. We want to stay with our English quirkiness and I think the fans want us to as well." JEFFREY KATZENBERG, the US firm’s chief executive officer, adds, "While I will always be a fan and an admirer of Aardman’s work, our different business goals no longer support each other." Speculation the deal could be doomed emerged last year after Dreamworks said it expected to lose money on Flushed Away, which cost well over $100 million (£51 million) to make, but only grossed $63.4 million (£33 million).

I LOVE LUCY co-creator and writer BOB CARROLL JR died Saturday (27JAN07) in Los Angeles following a brief illness. He was 87.
Carroll created the classic sitcom starring LUCILLE BALL and her then-husband DESI ARNAZ with his longtime writing partner MADELYN PUGH DAVIS and the show’s producer and head writer, JESS OPPENHEIMER, in 1951.
Carroll and Davis co-wrote every one of the half-hour series’ 180 episodes from 1951 to 1957, either with Oppenheimer or with BOB SCHILLER and BOB WEISKOPF, who joined the writing staff in the show’s fifth season.
The pair first worked with Oppenheimer and Lucille Ball on the CBS radio show MY FAVORITE HUSBAND beginning in 1948.
The show was originally intended to be transferred to TV, but I Love Lucy was developed instead after Ball expressed a desire to star opposite her real-life husband, Arnaz, a Cuban-born bandleader.
The writing team continued to work with Ball on her subsequent series THE LUCILLE BALL-DESI ARNAZ SHOW, THE LUCY SHOW, HERE’S LUCY and LIFE WITH LUCY.
Carroll and Davis worked on the series THE TOM EWELL SHOW, THE MOTHERS-IN-LAW, MR T AND TINA, ALICE, PRIVATE BENJAMIN and DOROTHY.

LATEST: Troubled GREY’S ANATOMY star ISAIAH WASHINGTON has been released from a rehabilitation facility after a week of counselling for his repeated use of a homophobic slur.
The star, who plays DR PRESTON BURKE on the hit series, is expected to return to the set tomorrow (01FEB07).
Washington, who will continue to receive outpatient counselling, caused an altercation on the show’s set in October (06) when he used a homosexual slur to refer to cast member TR KNIGHT.

Hip-hop boy band PRETTY RICKY has ended the DREAMGIRLS soundtrack’s reign at the top of the US album charts after debuting LATE NIGHT SPECIAL at number one.
The group’s new album beat WINCING THE NIGHT AWAY by cult indie act THE SHINS to the top spot with first-week sales of 132,000. The Shins came in second with 118,000 copies sold.
While Pretty Ricky hit the top 20 in 2005 with their last album BLUESTARS, The Shins have never been higher than number 86 on The Billboard 200 chart before today (31JAN07). The number two spot also makes the album the biggest release ever on the Sub Pop label.

Canadian crooner MICHAEL BUBLE has slammed the producers of the Grammy Awards for not including his category in the televised part of the ceremony.

I’ll go!’ "She is really spontaneous and fun." Biel, 24, stayed with Timberlake at his $1,950 (£1,000) per night, four-bedroom condo at the Trail’s End Lodge and the couple were spotted snowboarding the next day at the picturesque Park City Mountain Resort.
The pair stayed at the lodge until 26 January (07) and a source at the resort says, "Justin and his group were fantastic guests." Biel’s representative refused to comment on her relationship with Timberlake saying, "Jessica was in Sundance for a couple of days to see some movies."
