THE JEFFERSONS and ALL IN THE FAMILY star MIKE EVANS has died after a battle with throat cancer. He was 57.
The North Carolina-born actor died at his mother ANNIE SUE EVANS’ home in Twentynine Palms, California on 14 December (06), his niece CHRYSTAL EVANS confirmed.
After studying acting at Los Angeles City College, Evans landed the role of LIONEL JEFFERSON in 1970s comedy show All In The Family, and then spin-off The Jeffersons in 1975.
Evans left The Jeffersons for four years to star in sitcom GOOD TIMES, which he created and co-wrote with ERIC MONTE, but returned in 1981.

Nike Evans was so talented. His character portrayals really touched people.
I was huge fan of the show “Good Times” as a child in the 70’s
& I fell in love with Michael on “All in the Family” & “The Jeffersons”. I wish he had continued acting and writing because television would have been so much better.
I hope he is resting in peace & I hope his family knows how much he was adored by his fans.
