The ‘Toxic’ singer - who befriended the hotel heiress after filing for divorce from Kevin Federline last month - has not been seen partying with Paris for almost two weeks now.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Britney has been told by her people that if she ever wants a comeback, she has to stay far away from Paris and start acting like an adult." Britney - who has two sons, 15-month-old Sean Preston and three-month-old Jayden James, with Kevin - was seen enjoying a string of late nights with Paris immediately after dumping Kevin.
She was also photographed on four occasions not wearing any underwear.
The 25-year-old singer has since apologised to her fans, via her official website, for her behaviour, saying: "Thank God for the new underwear line from Victoria’s Secret! "I look forward to a new year, new music and a new me. I’m just getting started!" Britney has not released any music for two years but has been in the recording studios since she filed for divorce.

The actress and her lover Brad Pitt decided to treat the five-year-old to a dish of crunchy crickets during a recent trip to Maddox’s native Cambodia.
She revealed: "I recently took Mad to Cambodia and it was the first trip there where he really understood it.
"We took him to a restaurant in the middle of the night and he had his first plate of crickets." The insects - which are rich in protein - are a traditional dish in the Southeast Asian country.
Angelina is also said to love cockroaches and bee larvae and has been searching for recipes so she can serve them up at home.
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old has confessed for the first time that she fell for Brad while he was still married.
Angelina and Brad grew close during filming ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’, although Angelina insists there was no romance until Brad, 42, split from his wife Jennifer Aniston in 2005.
She revealed to America’s Vogue magazine: "We ended up being brought together to do all these crazy things, and I think we found this strange, friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened."

‘The Good German’ actor is paranoid that new technology, such as camera-phones, could jeopardize his career because he can no longer hide from prying lenses and every wrong move he makes can easily be photographed.
He is quoted by Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper as saying: "It’s not that actors have all gone crazy, it’s that there are just so many different sources now.
"You know, everybody’s got a camera on their phone now so, all the time, any mistake that anybody makes, you’re going to have it on film. And boy, there have already been some dumb mistakes." Driver Koral Karsan threatened to leak embarrassing photographs of the 73-year-old and hinted he would kill her and her son Sean Lennon if he did not received the huge sum.
Karsan - who has worked for Yoko, the widow of John Lennon, for six years - was arrested, pending charges, by New York police after Yoko reported the threats.
Yoko’s spokesman, Elliot Mintz said: "She is one woman who has been through enough.
"For an employee - especially a trusted employee who drove her - to attempt a shakedown has left her just absolutely shocked." Police said that on December 8, the 26th anniversary of John Lennon’s assassination, Karsan delivered a threatening note and a photo of Yoko in nightclothes to her apartment in New York’s Dakota building, where she once lived with the former Beatle.
In a later conversation with one of Yoko’s associates, which was recorded by investigators, the 50-year-old chauffeur talked about killing her, her son and himself.
Mintz added: "You’re reminded that this takes place around that time of the anniversary, when she is in a particularly vulnerable position.
"It just adds insult to injury. This one’s really cold." John was shot on the night of December 8, 1980, by crazed fan Mark David Chapman.
The music legend and his wife were returning to the Dakota building from a recording studio when Chapman opened fire with a .38-caliber revolver shooting him four times.

The music legend has written to producers Bob Yari and Holly Wiersma, and screenwriter Aaron Richard Golub, demanding the movie - a biopic about artist Andy Warhol’s young muse - is shelved until it has been determined whether or not he is defamed in the film.
Sedgwick, played by Sienna Miller, was Warhol’s biggest protégé until she became addicted to drugs and killed herself by overdosing on barbiturates in 1971.
While living at New York’s Chelsea Hotel she befriended Dylan and the pair are rumoured to have had a relationship.
Dylan’s lawyer, Orin Snyder, has said the original screenplay portrayed the alleged relationship using Dylan’s name, and suggested he dumped Sedgwick - causing "her tragic decline into heroin addiction and eventual suicide." The name has now been changed to ‘Danny Quinn’ in the film and the character, played by Hayden Christensen, is said to be a combination of Dylan, the late Doors frontman Jim Morrison and Sir Mick Jagger.
But Snyder insists critics who have previewed the film say it is unmistakably Dylan.
A trailer shows Quinn wearing Dylan’s trademark harmonica brace and cap as he performs.
According to the New York Post newspaper, Snyder warned: "You appear to be labouring under the misunderstanding that merely changing the name of a character or making him a purported fictional composite will immunize you from a suit. That is not so. Even though Mr. Dylan’s name is not used, the portrayal remains both defamatory and a violation of Mr. Dylan’s right of publicity.
"Until we are given an opportunity to view the film, we hereby demand that all distribution and screenings immediately be ceased." The Weinstein Company, which is releasing the film on December 27, has so far declined to comment.

‘The Simple Life’ star - who was charged for the offence on Monday (11.12.06) - has a previous DUI charge and California law states that a repeat offence carries the mandatory sentence of five consecutive days in county jail.
If convicted, Nicole would also have her driving license suspended for one year and be ordered to attend an alcohol education programme for a year-and-a-half, even if the second conviction is not alcohol-related.
Nicole, the adopted daughter of singer Lionel Richie, was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning for driving the wrong way along a California freeway.
She admitted to police she had taken the strong painkiller Vicodin and had smoked marijuana.
Nicole was first arrested for DUI in 2002. She told police she had eaten French fries and drunk a shot of vodka.
She pleaded no contest to the charge, was sentenced to three years probation and had her driving license suspended for one year.
Six months later, Nicole was arrested for possession of heroin and for driving with a suspended license.
Friends insist the 25-year-old only takes Vicodin to relieve menstrual pain.
A source told Us Weekly magazine: "She knows she made a mistake, but overall she’s in a better place. She has come a long way from her heroin days." The friend also claimed that Nicole actually weighs 95 pounds, not 85 pounds as stated in the police report.
The source added: "She’s so proud of her weight gain. She doesn’t know where the cops came up with 85 pounds and it’s annoying to her."

The daughter of Sir Mick Jagger, who has openly bragged about her penchant for fur, found herself lost for words when she met PETA vice-president Dan Mathews recently.
Mathews was said to be disappointed by Jade’s silent treatment and decided to send her an anti-fur video along with a note which read: "I wish we could have spoken more. You seem a decent person and if you took a few minutes to investigate the real story behind fur, perhaps you’d see it as more than just a fabric.
"Please watch the video and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us." Jade, 35, has so far failed to respond.
The jewellery designer has welcomed criticism from animal rights activists in the past, saying, "I have no fear of paintball shooters, I have been trying to get their attention for years. Come and get me!" It was revealed last month that Jade is launching a new range of clothes for high street giant TopShop.
The new line, called Jezebel, will arrive in stores at the same time as her friend Kate Moss’ range.
Jade has dismissed any rumours of rivalry between herself and the supermodel.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Uma was running late the other afternoon. She stuffed eight people into an elevator built for four in a Manhattan building. Uma was trapped for more than 20 minutes.
"Luckily, her bodyguard Leonard Taylor rescued her. He pulled the elevator door open with one arm and used his belt as a pulley with his other arm." The ‘Kill Bill’ actress plays a radio host, Emma Lloyd, who advises a listener to break up with her boyfriend, a New York fireman, in the new romantic comedy.
The fireman - played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan - then tries to take his revenge by wrecking Emma’s personal life.
Uma begged Hollywood bosses not to write her off earlier this year.
The 36-year-old, who claims Tinseltown has a habit of putting female stars out to pasture as they advance in years, insists she is getting better with age.

Mel B was left devastated after finding out Eddie had ended their five-month romance during a TV interview.
