ANGELINA JOLIE treated boyfriend BRAD PITT to a tour of a famous house built by his architectural idol FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT for his upcoming birthday.
Pitt turns 42 on 18 December (06) and Jolie surprised him with a trip to Wright’s masterpiece, Fallingwater, in Pennsylvania on Thursday (07DEC06).
Jolie and the OCEAN’S ELEVEN star, who is an architecture buff, took a two-hour guided tour and then held a private birthday party in Fallingwater’s living room.
CARA ARMSTRONG, the house’s curator of education, who led the couple on their tour, said, "Brad said he had wanted to experience Fallingwater ever since he took an architectural history course in college. He and I talked quite a bit about design and art. He was incredibly well informed about architecture." Armstrong told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette newspaper the celebrity couple were "very gracious and very engaged in the house. As we say in the Midwest, you could tell their mothers raised them right." The famous house, in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, about 50 miles (80 kilometres) southeast of Pittsburgh, is built over the wooded Mill Run creek.
After the tour, the couple headed to the living room to enjoy champagne and caviar, which Jolie had arranged to have sent in and later invited the staff to join them.
Jolie told Fallingwater staff members that selecting a birthday gift for Pitt was challenging, adding, "He’s so hard to buy for."

Model-turned-actress REBECCA ROMIJN is joining the cast of the hit US TV series UGLY BETTY.
The X-MEN star will take on the role of the mysterious woman behind the mask who has been plotting to take over the fictional Mode magazine, along with the show’s star VANESSA WILLIAMS.
Romijn joins the cast as a series regular on Monday (11DEC06) and her first episode is expected to air in February (07).
FRIDA star SALMA HAYEK is the executive producer of the show, which is based on the groundbreaking Colombian telenovela YO SOY BETTY LA FEA.
The series has been one of the few breakout new hits during the new TV season in the US and features AMERICA FERRERA as a struggling assistant at a fashion magazine.

Hordes of fans stared queuing as early as 5.30am for a chance to look through the star’s personal items at her highly-publicised garage sale.
A handful of news crews, several print reporters, a news helicopter and Spelling’s own reality TV crew all showed up to cover the festivities.
The star, who is five months pregnant told American publication People, "This is a little weird, but I’m okay." Security guards were hired to control the crowd, who were required to sign release forms before they were allowed to enter the site.
Items up for sale ranged from a used Sephora lip gloss for $1 (51 pence), her dog MIMI LA RUE’s shampoo for $20 (£10.25), a used pair of Marc Jacobs designer round-toe shoes for $125 (£64) and a pair of white aged Grecian urns for $7,500 (£3,800).
Spelling sent a note to neighbours apologising for any inconvenience, explaining she obtained the required permits and that it would take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday (8-10DEC06).
The actress said she wanted to clean house as she enters a new phase in her life adding, "I had to break away from the past and be ready to start anew."

LATEST: Actor WESLEY SNIPES was set free by a Florida judge this morning (08DEC06) after posting $1 million (£513,000) in bail related to federal tax evasion charges levelled against him.
The 44-year-old star appeared in a federal courthouse in Ocala, Florida after flying in on a private jet from Namibia where he is filming the cowboy movie GALLOWWALKER.
He pleaded not guilty to charges he fraudulently claimed refunds totalling nearly $12 million dollars (£6.15 million) from taxes he paid in 1996 and 1997.
The federal indictment accuses Snipes of using an accounting firm known for filing false returns in exchange for 20 per cent of all the money refunded and he is also charged with failing to file any tax returns from 1999 to 2004.
Snipes’ attorney BILLY MARTIN said outside the courthouse, "Mr Snipes left America to begin filming Gallowwalker long before this indictment was returned.
"We want to make it clear that he did not avoid returning to the United States. He’s always been ready to return and he did not flee." Snipes added, "I wanna say thanks to everybody, thanks to all of the fans out there for showing support. I look forward to clearing my name and resolving this issue post-haste." The actor is returning to Africa to continue working on the film. He faces up to 16 years in prison if convicted on the charges.
