SIR PAUL McCARTNEY is ecstatic after a batch of private family photographs were returned to him, after they were found discarded on a London rubbish tip.
The intimate pictures - including some of the former BEATLE’s late wife LINDA McCARTNEY - were discovered by British newspaper The Sun earlier this week (begs04DEC06).
The photos show McCartney in happier times, with a number dating back 30 years.
One of the family albums contains snaps of McCartney’s estranged second wife HEATHER MILLS proudly showing off her bump while heavily pregnant with the couple’s daughter BEATRICE, and posing in a Victorian bath wearing nothing but diamond earrings.
Shocked at the finding, McCartney says, "I’m very grateful to The Sun for getting these pictures back to me." The 64-year-old is currently embroiled in a bitter divorce battle with Mills, who has sensationally claimed he physically abused her during their four year marriage.
The couple split up in May (06) and began divorce proceedings in July (06).

LATEST: Troubled rocker PETE DOHERTY was "distressed" as he knelt beside a dying actor outside a party, according to a witness.
MARK BLANCO, who was set to star in London play THE ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST, fell from a second floor balcony at a house party attended by Doherty in London last Saturday (02DEC06). He died in hospital.
One partygoer has told British newspaper The Guardian that Doherty was "clearly very concerned" when he saw Blanco still breathing.
She says, "He came out of the house and was clearly very concerned. He came and stooped down next to me.
"I was saying to Peter, ‘It’s OK, it’s alright.’ Peter went, ‘It’s not f**king OK, it’s not alright,’ and was clearly very distressed.
"It seems that it’s a tragic accident. I’m sure that from the inquest they will be able to tell us what’s happened, and I trust they will be right.’" BABYSHAMBLES frontman Doherty was quizzed by police about the incident on Thursday (07DEC06), and they took a statement of the rocker’s version of events.
He was not questioned under caution and was not directly involved with the actor’s death, but was seen fighting with Blanco earlier in the evening.

Hotel heiress PARIS HILTON has sparked speculation she is to wed after she attended a party in Los Angeles wearing a diamond ring on her engagement finger.
The socialite, who recently expressed her desire to have four children by the time she turns 30, is back together with shipping heir STAVROS NIARCHOS, with whom she split in May (06) after a year of dating.
While Hilton was keen to show off her new jewellery at the fashion event on Monday night (04DEC06), her publicist has refused to comment on the wedding rumours.

Filmmaker MEL GIBSON has rubbished reports he is planning a return to acting and claims he’s in no hurry to get back in front of the camera.
The BRAVEHEART star, who has abandoned acting to concentrate on his directorial career, admits he’d even be happy if he wasn’t working at all.
He says, "I just haven’t felt the pressing desire to hop in front of the camera and tap dance.
"It’s not that I don’t want to do it, it’s just that it hasn’t been on the menu for me for a while.
"When I was younger I used to think, ‘Boy, what would happen if I didn’t work again? Gee whiz, that’d be terrible,’ but I since realised it’s not terrible at all."

Reality TV star SHARON OSBOURNE likes to take revenge on her enemies by sending them a box of excrement.
The wife of wildman rocker OZZY OSBOURNE - who recently vowed to bare her breasts on British television - last used the dirty tactic four years ago, when a writer criticised her family’s television show THE OSBOURNES.
She says, "The last turd? Three… no, four years ago, when the first review came out of The Osbournes. The journalist said something about my kids being fat and how unappealing that was.
"I said, ‘I heard you’ve got an eating disorder. Eat this.’" Osbourne adds, "I’ve done it for an awfully long time. I suppose I find it funny.
"I mean, I don’t just do it to anybody. They have to have done something really bad."

British model/actress ELIZABETH HURLEY only keeps celebrity best friends as it’s "too exhausting" to hang around non-famous people.
The star, who plans to wed partner ARUN NAYAR in India next year (07), insists she can only befriend fellow celebrities, because members of the public "bother" her.
But Hurley hopes her nuptials won’t feel like a celebrity event - despite inviting all her famous pals to the ceremony.
She says, "All I know is, I want my wedding to be a very, very private affair. I don’t want anything to take place in public where it feels like a movie premiere.
"In the end, famous people only ever end up hanging out with other famous people or in private places because it’s just too exhausting to be stared at and bothered the whole time.

British soap star MOHAMMED GEORGE was arrested in the early hours of yesterday (08DEC06) morning on suspicion of physically abusing his girlfriend after a heated row outside a London restaurant.
The actor, who plays GUS in BBC show EASTENDERS, was taken into custody after witnesses called police to the scene, where his lover EMMA ARCHIBALD, 26, was left sprawled on the pavement.
George, 24, was released on bail pending further investigation.
A spokesman for Eastenders refused to comment on the incident.

Actor-turned-director MEL GIBSON has blasted European historians for their "selective" portrait of the past.
The star, whose new movie APOCALYPTO charts the fall of the central American Mayan empire in the ninth century, has criticised historians for ignoring the story of the world before colonisation began.
He says, "There’s always this conceit among historians, particularly European historians, that history only began when they arrived - which of course is not the case.
"I thought it would be interesting to tell a story that wasn’t from the New World point of view."

The British police investigation into the 1997 death of DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES will reportedly find her driver HENRI PAUL was not entirely to blame for the fatal car accident, despite being three times over the French drink-driving limit.
According to British newspaper the Daily Express, former police chief LORD STEVENS will conclude that French paparazzi photographers chasing Diana’s car were also partly responsible for the Paris, France tragedy, which also killed her lover DODI FAYED and Paul.
The report, due out on Thursday (14DEC06), is expected to accept Paul was drunk, had taken tranquilliser drugs and was driving at "excessive speed" when he lost control of the Mercedes car.
Stevens’ findings differ to the official French investigation, which claimed paparazzi on motorbikes bore little responsibility for the accident.
It is thought he will conclude that the princess, Fayed and Paul died in a road accident.

Cult rocker WILL OLDHAM will swap music for comedy when he takes to the stage as a stand-up comedian later this month (DEC06).
The star, better known as BONNIE ‘PRINCE’ BILLY, will perform a short routine at comedy club Weeds in Chicago, Illinois on 17 December (06) as part of a series of shows sponsored by his record label Drag City.
A number of would-be comedians will take part in the shows alongside professional funnyman KUMAIL NANJIANI and experimental musician AZITA.
Drag City’s RIAN MURPHY admits he doesn’t know what to expect from Oldham’s gags.

GIRLS ALOUD singer NICOLA ROBERTS has dumped her long-term boyfriend CARL EGERTON, blaming the split on her hectic work schedule.

Music mogul SIMON COWELL is launching a Europe-wide talent search for the next pop superstar, in a Eurovision Song Contest style competition.
Cowell is currently in talks to produce a continental version of his British TV show THE X FACTOR, which could see the talent search broadcasted across Europe simultaneously.
An insider says, "To use a football (soccer) analogy, we are currently the Premiership and it would be the European Champions League.
"All countries would compete in their competitions at the same time. Then all the winners would fight it out to become champions of Europe.

A pair of autographed boots belonging to DAVID BOWIE has sold for £1,320 ($2,595) at an auction to raise funds for a landmines charity.
Bowie beat PHIL COLLINS, whose shoes sold for £642 ($1,262), and COLDPLAY’s CHRIS MARTIN, whose trainers went for £510 (£995) to fetch the highest bid at the 10 day internet auction, which saw 69 celebrities donate footwear to the cause.
British actress DAME JUDI DENCH’s shoes and former BAYWATCH star PAMELA ANDERSON were also auctioned off for the landmines clearance charity, Mines Advisory Group (MAG), which raised £9,467 ($18,616) in total.

GEORGE CLOONEY is warning comic book fans not to get too excited about the prospect of seeing BATMAN and SPIDER-MAN fight it out in his new movie THE GOOD GERMAN - the scene features two actors trying not to re-injure their backs.
Clooney fears some filmgoers will hit the cinema to see him scrap with Spider-Man star TOBEY MAGUIRE in the period war film, but he insists the fight scene between them was ridiculous.
The movie hunk, who is still recovering from 2005 back surgery to stop spinal fluid leaking into his brain, says, "It’s Spiderman versus an old Batman, and Tobey’s bigger than you think. He’s a strong kid… I think he takes me two out of three.
"But, in reality, both of us have bad backs and we have to be really careful.

A cartoon biography of troubled pop star PETE DOHERTY is set to be made into an animated TV series.
A BOY CALLED PETE is being made by PETER ROBINSON and chronicles the adventures of the BABYSHAMBLES lead singer and his struggles with drug addiction.
Robinson explains,"I don’t think anyone could read about the life of Pete Doherty and think doing drugs is a good thing." The cartoon will tell the story of a young man who "sings songs and wears hats" and whose love of "mind-bending drugs" means he and pal KATE (MOSS) are "always in trouble".
Robinson is also creating cartoons based on his other biographies on BRITNEY SPEARS, MADONNA, ROBBIE WILLIAMS, EMINEM, MICHAEL JACKSON, SIR ELTON JOHN and TAKE THAT.
He says, "ROBBIE (WILLIAMS) was given a copy of his book, he thinks it’s funny…but there’s been no comments from Pete yet."

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star EVA LONGORIA was shocked by boyfriend TONY PARKER’s marriage proposal because he was supposed to be in another state playing basketball.
The 31-year-old actress was returning home in the early hours after filming all day and was shocked to find her French-born boyfriend waiting for her.
She tells American publication People, "It was a big surprise! He had been playing in Utah, so I was just shocked to see him in LA.

BEYONCE KNOWLES has slammed reports she lies about her age, and is in fact seven-years-old older than she admits to being.
Internet rumours started circulating this week (begs04DEC06) after a celebrity gossip website claimed to have a document from the Texas Department Of Health saying the star was 32, not 25 as she claims.
The birth certificate said the star was born on 4 September in 1974, but a source tells entertainment website TMZ.com that the authenticity of the document could not be verified.
The IRREPLACEABLE singer, who claims she was born in 1981, celebrated her 25th birthday in September (06) which coincided with the release of her new album, B’DAY.
The singer’s representative slams the claims that her client is lying about her age, insisting she had "no idea" how the rumours started.
Representatives from the High School Of The Visual And Performing Arts in Houston, which Knowles attended confirm she was a student at the institution from 1997 to 2000.
