LATEST: Former SPICE GIRL MELANIE BROWN has hit back at ex-boyfriend EDDIE MURPHY, insisting she is shocked by his comments about the paternity of her unborn baby.
The WANNABE singer had been dating BEVERLY HILLS COP star Murphy since June (06) and he has now demanded a DNA test to prove that he is the actual father of her child.
Brown issued a statement to Hollywood blogger PEREZ HILTON this morning (07DEC06), saying, "I am obviously upset and distressed at some of the comments made by Eddie Murphy to the media.
"I have no idea why anybody would want to conduct themselves in this kind of manner about such a personal matter in such a public way.
"My main concern is for the well being of my daughter PHOENIX and of course the baby. I was astonished about what Eddie said - there is absolutely no question that Eddie is the father." Murphy appeared on Dutch TV on Tuesday (05DEC06), where he announced the couple were no longer dating, just one day after the singer said they were looking forward to spending Christmas together.
On Monday night (04DEC06), Murphy stepped out with his new girlfriend, TRACEY EDMONDS, at the New York City premiere of his latest film DREAMGIRLS.

It’s turning into a great week for MARY J BLIGE - just three days after taking home nine Billboard Awards in Las Vegas, she looks set to be crowned the queen of the Grammys.
The FAMILY AFFAIR singer leads the Grammy Awards nomination list, which was announced this morning (07DEC06) in Los Angeles, with eight nods.
The R&B star, who was among the presenters reading out the nominations, will compete for Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year (both for BE WITHOUT YOU), while her duet with BONO on U2’s ONE re-recording is among the nominations in the Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal category.
All her other nods come in R&B categories, where she’ll fight for awards with the likes of PRINCE and BEYONCE KNOWLES.
The RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS garnered six nominations, while Brit JAMES BLUNT, JOHN MAYER, DANGER MOUSE, THE DIXIE CHICKS, Prince, BLACK EYED PEAS star WILL.I.AM, producer RICK RUBIN and composer JOHN WILLIAMS claimed five nods each.

In the leading categories, The Dixie Chicks’ TAKING THE LONG WAY, ST ELSEWHERE by Gnarls Barkley, CONTINUUM by John Mayer, STADIUM ARCADIUM by the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, and Timberlake’s FUTURESEX/LOVESOUNDS will fight for the Album Of The Year prize.
Meanwhile, the nominees for Record Of The Year are Blige’s Be Without You, Blunt’s YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL, NOT READY TO MAKE NICE by The Dixie Chicks), CRAZY by Gnarls Barkley), and newcomer CORINNE BAILEY RAE’s PUT YOUR RECORDS ON.

HEATHER MILLS is reportedly representing herself during some court hearings in her divorce battle with estranged husband SIR PAUL McCARTNEY, in a bid to keep her legal costs down.
The former model dispensed with the services of her barristers when she yesterday (06DEC06) made an application to bar McCartney from her home and gain access to his, according to London newspaper the Evening Standard.
A legal source tells the publication, "She has to be careful about the size of her legal bills and by representing herself she is able to cut down on the costs." The newspaper reports Mills is still using legal firm Mischon de Reya to handle the battle over money and custody of her daughter BEATRICE, three.

Pop superstar BRITNEY SPEARS has defended her constant partying - claiming she has been virtually housebound for the past two years.
Spears, who turned 25 last Saturday (02DEC06), has twice been photographed without panties while out with new pals PARIS HILTON and LINDSAY LOHAN, among others.
The TOXIC singer split with husband KEVIN FEDERLINE, with whom she has two children, SEAN PRESTON, 15 months, and three-month-old JAYDEN JAMES.
But Spears insists she’s earned her right to party.

GEORGE CLOONEY is considering signing up to star in a Bollywood movie in a bid to raise Indian cinema’s profile in the US.
The SYRIANA Oscar winner would love to broaden his acting horizons by appearing in a high-profile musical set in India, after being impressed by recent advances in the genre.
He says, "I’d love to. There are some filmmakers whose films when you see (them) you say, ‘That could be an interesting story to tell.’ "I was watching a film the other day and the music was just amazing. It’s become such a huge industry.
"There is a small market in the States as of now, but it will be fun if it catches on because it is such a positive way of looking at filmmaking and I really love that. I truly think it’s fun."

LATEST: PETE DOHERTY was not involved in the tragic death of MARK BLANCO on Sunday night (03DEC06), according to the party-goer who found the actor after a 30-foot fall.
Textile designer ANNA SMITH was a guest at the bash thrown by Doherty’s literary agent PAUL ROUNDHILL at his east London flat, and insists Blanco was aggressive towards Doherty before he was shown to the door.
She adds that the BABYSHAMLES frontman did not follow him outside.
Smith says, "Mark was incredibly drunk and really out of order… He pinned Pete up against a wall. Pete was looking around the room, as if asking for help. Mark was going on and on (about his play) in his face.
"Paul took Blanco’s arm and said, ‘Come on, Mark. Time to go.’ He led him to the door." Host Roundhill adds, "I took Mark to the door myself. I tried to get Mark to calm down." Bianco, who starred in the London play THE ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST, was rushed to hospital with head injuries, where he died on Tuesday (05DEC06).

MADONNA has been attacked by animal rights group People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) after she was snapped wearing a fur coat in London last night (06DEC06).
The singer dined out with husband GUY RITCHIE wearing a coat that appeared to be made from chinchilla fur.
PETA spokesperson KAREN CHISHOLM says, "Wearing a coat made of dozens of animals who were strangled or anally electrocuted got Madonna the attention she so desperately craves, but it also brought painful deaths to small, gentle animals who died for her vanity. It can take between 30 and 200 chinchillas to make just one coat."

JERRY SPRINGER has been forced to end his American radio show after being inundated with extra work.
Sixty-two-year-old Springer is attributing his career resurgence to an appearance on ABC’s reality TV series DANCING WITH THE STARS. The star was a surprise hit, and has been flooded with work ever since being voted off the show in October (06).
Springer has a Budweiser commercial, a TV sitcom role and a movie part in the pipeline - and admits he doesn’t have the time to concentrate on his radio career.
He says, "Radio is a full-time job, and I honestly don’t devote the time that I should to radio.
"I can’t do the job if I’m not going to do it seriously." Springer’s Cincinnati-based radio talk show began in January last year (05) and was syndicated to 53 stations across America.

Hollywood studios Paramount and DreamWorks have denied speculation they are pushing BEYONCE KNOWLES for a Best Actress nomination for DREAMGIRLS, ahead of the film’s star JENNIFER HUDSON.
Internet reports claim former AMERICAN IDOL contestant Hudson’s contract includes a clause which gave the studios the right to defer her performance as EFFIE WHITE to the Best Supporting Actress category, in favour of her famous co-star’s turn as DEENA JONES.

Retired model TYRA BANKS is planning to fulfil a lifelong ambition by adopting a child.
The star claims she hasn’t just jumped on the celebrity adoption bandwagon to copy MADONNA and ANGELINA JOLIE, but insists she has harboured a desire to raise a child since she was young.
Banks says, "I’ve wanted to adopt since I was eight, nine years old, before it was hip.
"I really do think I will. I don’t have to have a child come from my womb to have a connection.

Broadway star JAMES BARBOUR has pleaded not guilty to charges he sexually abused a 15-year-old girl.
The 40-year-old actor, who played the Beast in musical BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, denies the five counts of criminal sex acts and sexual abuse against the teenager dating back to 2001.
According to the prosecution, Barbour assaulted the teen on three separate occasions, including one incident which occurred in the actor’s apartment although Barbour is adamant the relationship was fully consensual.
A statement by Barbour regarding one of the alleged incidents reads: "We did kiss, and then she (the plaintiff) originated again about sexual intercourse.
"At that time I sort of freaked out, said she was 16, and that I couldn’t do this.
"The relationship stopped suddenly because I thought it was inappropriate and could get dangerous." Barbour was ordered to surrender his passport and will appear in court later this month (20DEC06).
The actor is also accused of sexual abuse of an underage girl in a separate case filed in California.

Hip-hop mogul RUSSELL SIMMONS launched his new Green Initiative jewellery line on Tuesday (05DEC06) - with a percentage of proceeds going to help impoverished Africans.
The 49-year-old will donate 25 per cent of profits from sales made by the Simmons Jewelry Company to the Diamond Empowerment Fund, which will support schools in South Africa and Botswana.
Last month (NOV06), Simmons visited South Africa and Botswana to study the diamond trade and how it can improve the lives of black Africans.
Simmons is adamant all diamonds bought by his company are conflict-free.

LATEST: Former BLUR guitarist GRAHAM COXON has discussed rejoining the band with bassist ALEX JAMES, four years after quitting the PARKLIFE hitmakers.
Coxon left during the making of Blur’s THINK TANK album in 2002 and swore he would never team up with James, frontman DAMON ALBARN or drummer DAVE ROWNTREE ever again.
But, according to James, he has had a change of heart.

American rapper YOUNG CITY has accused his MAKING THE BAND 2 mentor SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS of abandoning him after he lost everything when Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana last year (05).
The New Orleans native - real name KEVIN BARNES - was signed to SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS’ Bad Boy Records in 2002 and was slowly building his career when he lost his home in the disaster.
Barnes insists he never received any advance payments from Combs and financed his videos himself - and expected Combs to offer him help in the wake of Katrina.
He tells MTV, "I believe if I’m working with you, you are me. You’re a part of me if we’re getting this together.
"Puff is a multi-millionaire, I’m a thousand-naire at that time, grinding. I shot the (I SEE YOU LIL’ DADDY) video and the remix with LIL WAYNE and JODY BREEZE without him even giving me an advance check.
"I did that thinking it was all love. (Then) Katrina hit, boom, took away my house, my mama’s house, took away a lot of stuff from my family.
"When that happened, I didn’t get no phone call (from Diddy). A source close to Kevin said: "The Department of Children and Family Services are not watching Britney, but all it takes is one phone call and they will be. It doesn’t help that she’s leaving clubs with wine glasses."
