CRAIG SCARED BY CASINO ROYALE SUCCESS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:54 pm

New JAMES BOND DANIEL CRAIG fears his first outing as 007 has been too successful - because he’s now got too much to live up to.
Craig’s Bond debut in CASINO ROYALE has been a box office hit on both sides of the Atlantic, but he worries his performance will be a hard act to follow.
However, the British star admits he’s still looking forward to the challenge of making the 22nd James Bond movie.
He says, "I said to Barbara Broccoli (the franchise’s producer) the other day when we started getting good reviews - which was great - and suddenly we’ve got a successful movie.
"I said, ‘Well we’ve done it now because we’ve got to make the next one better!’ "But that’s the challenge and that’s all I’ve ever really thought about in acting. (Bond) was the biggest challenge I’ve ever been offered and the course of your life changes."

  • FOXX MOCKS WINFREY’S FEMALE FRIENDSHIP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:54 pm

JAMIE FOXX left OPRAH WINFREY squirming when he mocked the TV star’s relationship with her friend GAYLE KING at a tribute to WILL SMITH on Sunday (03DEC06).
The Oscar winner played on rumours suggesting Winfrey is having a lesbian affair with King at the American Museum Of The Moving Image gala.
Foxx told Smith on stage, "I was talking about you the other day. I was laying in bed with Oprah, and I turn over to Gayle and I say, ‘You know what?’" An explosion of laughter drowned out Foxx’s punchline and he later requested that cable network Bravo cut his comments from its upcoming broadcast of the event.
QUEEN LATIFAH, EVA MENDES, THANDIE NEWTON, BILL PULLMAN and TERRENCE HOWARD all attended the tribute, writes the New York Daily News.

  • FIRTH BLASTS ‘IGNORANT AND EMBARRASSED’ BRITONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:54 pm

Actor COLIN FIRTH has blamed British "embarrassment" for his countrymen’s trademark indifference towards strangers.
The BRIDGET JONES’S DIARY star accuses his fellow citizens of turning a blind eye to bad behaviour, homeless people and suspicious packages.
Firth made his comments after filming a scene for British TV show BORN EQUAL, in which he shouted aggressively at a co-star in front of passers-by - but he was shocked when nobody intervened.
Firth says, "People don’t want to get involved. I think it’s embarrassment, which is a British quality.
"I remember (comedian) BEN ELTON joking about an unattended package on the Tube, saying people would probably sit there hoping it would go off rather than face the embarrassment of asking if it belonged to anyone."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:51 pm

French film icon BRIGITTE BARDOT has praised Slovenian President JANEZ DRNOVSEK for his outspoken support of animal rights.
Drnovsek, 56, dramatically changed his outlook on life in 1999 after a kidney cancer scare and became a staunch vegetarian.
Bardot, 72, writes in a letter: "Knowing that the president of a European Union member state is a vegetarian, that he opposes laboratory experiments on animals, hunting and intensive animal breeding… represents hope rather than consolation.
"I wish we (in the French presidential elections) had at least a candidate like Janez Drnovsek… then the world would soon become less unbearable."

  • MASON DROPS JEWS FOR JESUS LAWSUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:48 pm

LATEST: US comedian JACKIE MASON has dropped a $2 million (£1.03 million) lawsuit against missionary group Jews For Jesus in return for an apology from the organisation.
The 75-year-old star claimed Jews For Jesus - a Christian group which practices aspects of Judaism - had damaged him by using his name and likeness on unauthorised pamphlets being handed out in New York, with his image alongside the words, ‘Jackie Mason… A Jew For Jesus’.
But the funnyman appeared in a New York court yesterday (04DEC06) to accept a full apology from executive director DAVID BRICKNER.
A statement from Brickner read that in "the interests of peace and love for Israel", he wanted to "convey my sincere apologies for any distress that you felt over our tract". But Mason says, "There’s no such thing as a Jew For Jesus. It’s like saying a black man is for the KKK.
"You can’t be a table and a chair. You’re either a Jew or a gentile." In August 2006, Mason said, "While I have the utmost respect for people who practice the Christian faith, the fact is, as everyone knows, I am as Jewish as a matzo ball or kosher salami." In court papers filed in New York that month, Mason stated, "The pamphlet uses my name, my likeness, my ’shtick’ (if you will), and my very act, which is derived from my personality, to attract attention and converts."

  • BORAT LAWSUIT ‘TOO VAGUE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:48 pm

LATEST: Romanian villagers who filed a lawsuit against the makers of new movie BORAT: CULTURAL LEARNINGS OF AMERICA FOR MAKE BENEFIT GLORIOUS NATION OF KAZAKHSTAN have been told their allegations are too vague.
New York Judge LORETTA PRESKA has insisted the suit must contain specific factual evidence of the villagers being misled before it can be pursued any further.
Lawyers last month (NOV06) filed the $30 million (£15.4 million) case against 20th Century Fox on behalf of NICOLAE TODORACHE and SPIRIDOM CIOREBEA, residents of Glod, Romania.
The pair allege residents of the town, who were used as stand-ins for Kazakh nationals, were duped into appearing in the film and paid just $4 (£2.05) for participating.
However, 20th Century Fox attorney SLADE METCALF denied the allegations, insisting any papers relating to the villagers should not be released for scrutiny, so that opposition lawyers can search for a breach of contract.
Metcalf also rejected claims villagers had been bribed by the movie’s representatives to keep quiet.
Speaking in November (06), resident DANA LUCA, 40, said, "We thought they came here to help us - not mock us. We haven’t got anything here. We haven’t got running water. We can’t even bathe. We are poor people, but we are still people."

  • TAKE THAT: ‘IT’S ODD BEING A BOY BAND’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:45 pm

Reformed group TAKE THAT find it odd being called a ‘boy band’ - because they claim the term was invented for them after they split in 1996.
The BACK FOR GOOD stars, who reunited earlier this year (06), believe their huge success paved the way for other so-called boy bands.
Singer JASON ORANGE says, "It’s a very odd thing because the first time we were around, the phrase boy band didn’t exist.
"It started being used after we split up when, without wanting to put them down, other bands formed in our shadow." (JC/SPNK/GES) WENN - FIFTH - HOLLYWOOD, SHOWBIZ & PEOPLE NEWS - 05 DECEMBER 2006

  • CAPONE-N-NOREAGA ASK FANS TO VOTE ON REUNION ALBUM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:45 pm

Hip-hop duo CAPONE-N-NOREAGA have healed their two-year rift and are asking fans to decide if they should record a new album together.
N.O.R.E. - real name VICTOR SANTIAGO - admits he lied about the reasons behind the duo’s creative silence in recent years, but insists he has finally got over the differences he had with his former partner CAPONE, real name KIAM HOLLEY.
He tells AllHipHop.com, "The other day he happened to reach out to me and I finally got over what we were going through and it look’s like we’re gonna go in (the studio).
"It was just big differences. At the end of the day, we answered our fans the politically correct way by saying I was doing Reggeaton. And I was doing five movies, so I was little bit busy. But the real story was there were a whole bunch of big differences." Santiago has asked fans to vote on his MySpace internet page after constantly being asked when CNN would follow up their 2000 release THE REUNION.
He adds, "I did 18 to 20 joints for my new album, and what happened was, while I was working on these joints and travelling, everywhere I went, people were like, ‘What’s up with the CNN, is there gonna be another CNN album?’ "So I opened up a poll on my MySpace.com page and people (the fans) have been begging for at least one more CNN album."

  • Britney Spears’ mother has begged the singer to quit partying.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:55 pm

Lynne Spears is said to be very concerned that her newly single daughter is seemingly spending night after night drinking with new best friend Paris Hilton.
Lynne rang up Britney and begged her to calm down, but the pair ended up having a "ferocious bust-up".
Family friend Marina Watts told Britain’s Star magazine: "Lynne is absolutely devoted to Britney and really only wants the best for her. She has seen TV footage of Britney showing off her backside, displaying her boobs and generally partying up a storm with Paris and thinks it is tacky." Lynne, 50, suggested Britney, 25 - who filed for divorce from Kevin Federline last month after two years of marriage - should move back to her hometown in Kentwood, Louisiana, for a quieter life.
She reportedly told Britney: "You’re going off the rails, can’t you see?" However, the ‘Toxic’ singer apparently ignored her mother’s pleas, saying she didn’t want to be back among the "rednecks".

  • The battle for this year’s UK Christmas number one is well and truly on - with hit children’s TV show ‘LazyTown’ emerging as an unlikely winner.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:55 pm

The novelty song ‘Bing Bang (Time To Dance)’, which was released on Monday (04.12.06), is being hotly tipped to gatecrash the top ten of the charts this weekend.
The annoyingly infectious tune is taken from the hugely popular TV series which follows the adventures of pink-haired Stephanie who visits LazyTown to see her uncle, The Mayor.
Along the way she encounters a host of bizarre characters, including super fit superhero Sportacus and slothful villain Robbie Rotten.
‘LazyTown’ has been embraced by parents because it encourages children to keep fit and stay active. The song even has it’s own dance routine, the ‘Bing Bang’ dance.
However, the track faces stiff competition for the coveted seasonal top spot from the usual mixed bag of Christmas records.
Girls Aloud, McFly, Westlife, the Crazy Frog, Sir Cliff Richard, ‘X Factor’ runner-up Andy Abraham, 70s glam rock band Slade and this year’s ‘X Factor’ winner all have festive singles coming out.
Slade are re-releasing their classic Yule Tide hit ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’, and many experts believe it could be carried to the top on a wave of nostalgia.
Nick Weinberg of Ladbrokes bookmakers said: "Punters are definitely giving Slade the nod to hold off the field. They’re second in the betting behind ‘X Factor’ but it looks as though Simon Cowell won’t have things his own way this Christmas."

The Take That singer says that while his other bandmates had children after the group split up, he sowed his seed and continued to party.
Jason jokingly told Britain’s New magazine: "I haven’t been writing songs. I didn’t get married. I’ve got no kids. I’ve got no sperm left. No, I’m joking, I’ve got lots of sperm!" Bandmate Howard Donald added: "He hasn’t got any b***s!" Jason has also lifted the lid on what he did after the group broke-up.
He insists he was happy to remove himself completely from the music industry, but did try his hand at acting on a few occasions during the last 10 years.
He explained: "After Take That split up, I moved away completely from the music industry and I’ve been doing very little - just relaxing and having a long holiday. I did a bit of acting, too, and went back to college."
