British drag entertainer DANNY LA RUE is planning to swap his trademark dresses for something more demure, but insists he’s not retiring from showbiz.
The 79-year-old, who enjoyed huge success in the 1970s and 1980s, suffered a stroke earlier this year (JAN06) and has been advised by medical staff to reduce his work commitments.
A newly pared-down schedule will see the cross-dressing star hang up his female party wear for good when he fronts a number of AN AUDIENCE WITH… shows on British TV to coincide with the release of his autobiography next year (07).
He says, "I’ve had the most wonderful life, wearing the most fabulous frocks and I’m looking forward to telling the tale and getting back on stage.
"It’s my ambition to have my boobs dipped in gold and sold at Sotheby’s."
