LATEST: GEORGE CLOONEY is threatening sweet revenge on pal BRAD PITT after the BABEL star poked fun at his OCEAN’S 11 co-star’s Sexiest Man Alive honour with a pair of trade paper ads.
Pitt, who like Clooney has been named the Sexiest Man in People magazine twice, paid for ads in The Hollywood Reporter and Daily Variety featuring embarrassing photos of the SYRIANA star.
The ads also featured a joke congratulations from Pitt, and now famous prankster Clooney is planning to get his own back.
He says, "After I got this, I sent him a text message and it just said, ‘You won’t know where, you won’t know when… Sleep well little prince, sleep well!’ "He wrote me back… ‘OK, it’s war.’ "He’s very quick and very smart but he’s got kids and things he has to do in life. I have nothing. I sit around and plot." The pals have a history of pulling practical jokes on each other - Clooney once poked fun at his friend’s sexuality by sticking a gay sign on his car, while Pitt sent official documents to the crew of OCEAN’S 12 insisting his buddy be called MR OCEAN throughout the shoot.

JENNY McCARTHY was awestruck by TOM CRUISE and KATIE HOLMES’ elaborate wedding last month (NOV06) and constantly had to pinch herself to remember it was real.
The SCARY MOVIE 3 star was thrilled to be attending the star-studded event, along with boyfriend JIM CARREY, in Italy.
She explains, "It was unbelievable. In my imagination it’s pretty big and wild to begin with and then going there, it surpassed anything I could ever imagine.
"I just remember going, ‘Take this in so I can tell my mom all about this!’ You know, I grew up with not much money, so to go to a castle in Rome, I was pinching myself the whole time.
"Jim had a bruise on his arm because I was going, ‘Oh, my God!’ (and hitting him)." When asked about the rumoured three minute kiss after the couple were pronounced man and wife, she said, "It wasn’t three minutes long.
"It was a longer kiss, but it kind of made it fun, ’cause it was a real kiss.
It made the guests (applaud). It was very, very sweet and very romantic."

JESSICA SIMPSON has reached out to PRISON BREAK actor LANE GARRISON, who once lived with the pop star and her family when he was a troubled teen.
Garrison was driving his Land Rover with three teenager passengers on Saturday night (02DEC06) when he struck a tree, killing a 17-year-old male passenger.
The Dallas native grew up in a bad family environment and repeatedly found himself in trouble with the law. He left his Texas home as a teenager and moved in with his family minister, JOE SIMPSON.
Lane has said in the past that he is grateful for Simpson’s help getting his life back on track.
Jessica released a statement through her publicist CINDI BERGER on Monday (O4DEC06), standing by her family friend, saying, "We love Lane very much and our thoughts and prayers are with him now." Police say Lane could ultimately face felony charges, but until the investigation has been completed, no charges will be filed.

LATEST: JESSICA SIMPSON was forced to re-tape her performance of DOLLY PARTON’s hit 9 TO 5 late on Sunday night (03DEC06) after botching her first live run-through at the Kennedy Center Honors.
The singer/actress, who was one of the stars paying tribute to Parton, relied heavily on cue cards and became visibly distraught when she flubbed a line during the song.
According to her publicist CINDI BERGER, Simpson was "overcome with emotion" while singing for her idol Parton.
Berger explains, "She wanted the song to be perfect, and she upset with herself when it wasn’t." After finishing the performance, Simpson said, "Dolly, you make me so nervous. I can’t even sing the words right" and left the stage to no applause.
Berger claims Simpson asked the show’s producers if she could have another chance to sing the song properly for the broadcast, which airs in the US on 26 December (06).

Oscar winner JENNIFER CONNELLY received a serious neck injury while filming a car chase with LEONARDO DiCAPRIO on the set of their new film BLOOD DIAMOND.
The A BEAUTIFUL MIND star had a hard time adjusting to the pain medication she was prescribed and embarrassed herself by attending a work dinner and drinking wine.
She explains, "I got a pretty serious neck injury, which was a shock, because I’ve never had a real injury before - as were the meds, frankly. The pills that they give you - those were a real shock.
"It says on the label, ‘Do not operate any heavy machinery’, but, in my case, it should have been, ‘Do not leave the house under any circumstances’.
"I, of course, took no heed and, unfortunately, I do vaguely remember talking to someone, saying I thought it would be a good idea if I, who has no experience of credentials whatsoever, edited the film.
"I do remember getting irritated with (husband) PAUL (BETTANY), who was kicking me under the table, because… he could clearly see the person I was talking to was the editor of the film.
"I then also tried to replace the DJ, evidently, at the club, because I thought I could do better at that, as well. Paul, gracefully, dragged me home before I got pummeled."

CLAUDE JADE, the French actress who starred in several of director FRANCOIS TRUFFAUT’s best-loved films, has died. She was 58.
Jade died at a hospital in the Paris suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt on Friday (01DEC06).
She had been suffering from eye cancer, which spread, according to JACQUES RAMPAL, a playwright she had recently worked with.
As a young actress, Jade caught Truffaut’s attention while appearing onstage in Shakespeare’s HENRY IV in the 1960s.
He cast her as a young women in love in the 1968 film BAISERSVOLES (STOLEN KISSES), alongside leading man JEAN-PIERRE LEAUD.
Truffaut continued the story of the characters’ marriage and divorce in DOMICILE CONJUGAL (BED & BOARD) and L’AMOUR EN FUITE (LOVE ON THE RUN).
Jade had a role in ALFRED HITCHCOCK’s 1969 film TOPAZ, about a French spy network, and she also appeared alongside crooner JACQUES BREL the same year in MON ONCLE BENJAMIN (MY UNCLE BENJAMIN).
Jade, who was a knight in France’s prestigious Legion Of Honour, also had a thriving career on the stage and appeared in a play in Paris and in festivals this summer (06).

CHARLIE’S ANGELS star FARRAH FAWCETT is winning her cancer battle after completing treatment to kill the disease.
The actress was diagnosed with a rare form of anal cancer earlier this year (06) and began chemotherapy treatment in Los Angeles in October (06).
In a statement released this morning (05OCT06), Fawcett’s publicist MIKE PINGEL insists the actress is well on her way to recovery.
He says, "Farrah is officially done with her treatment and is doing well. She is in great spirits."

The highway patrolman who arrested MEL GIBSON for drink-driving in July (06) has fired back at his own department for the ordeal he was put through following the controversy.
Los Angeles County Deputy JAMES MEE claims he was forced into "an Internal Affairs investigation within 72 hours of the arrest of Mr Gibson" in a letter sent to the Sheriff’s Department, and obtained by news website TMZ.com.
Mee’s lawyer RICHARD SHINEE, who sent the letter in October (06), claims his client was interrogated for five hours and the deputy "was compelled to give a statement regarding all aspects of the transaction between himself and Mr Gibson, including questions with regard to the alleged leak of information to the press." Mee was reportedly told to sanitise his report, removing details of any anti-Semitic remarks the movie star made at the scene of his arrest.
In the letter, Shinee says Deputy Mee "told the investigators that he was ordered to change his report, and further, that he did so against his will." Mee then reportedly became the subject of a criminal investigation immediately after his interview.
TMZ.com has learned Mee has since been taken off patrol duty in Malibu, California - where Gibson was arrested - and reassigned.
The site also claims the Sheriff’s Department has recently targeted Mee in a separate investigation, allegedly for getting into an argument with a superior.
Shinee says, "(This) is nothing more than ongoing harassment."

R&B star AKON is giving WHITNEY HOUSTON a boost as she plans a major comeback he has agreed to work on her more "uptempo" numbers.
Houston has been planning her comeback album for more than a year and has been working on it with mentor CLIVE DAVIS, in between rehab stints to kick her drug abuse problems.
And now Senegalese chart-topper Akon has confirmed he’s part of the diva’s studio team.
He tells MTV News, "I’m working on more uptempo records for her. She’s been through a lot and has a dark history. So we’ve got to make the album brighter because she’s come out of the cave now.
"She wants a celebration. She needs to come back to the old Whitney we remember." Akon has also been linked to MICHAEL JACKSON, with industry insiders suggesting the pair will record a duet for the King Of Pop’s own comeback album.

Wayne - real name DWAYNE MICHAEL CARTER - is thrilled Jay-Z has ended his retirement with a chart-topping new album, KINGDOM COME, but he insists the Def Jam president shouldn’t be making claims he’s single-handedly saving the genre.
Speaking in the new issue of urban magazine Complex, the 24-year-old states, "I don’t like what he’s saying about how he had to come back because hip-hop’s dead and we need him.
"What the f**k do you mean? If anything, it’s reborn, so he’s probably having a problem with that. You left on a good note, and all of the artists were saying, ‘Yo, this is Jay’s house. He’s the best.’ Now he comes back and still thinks it’s his house.
"It’s not your house anymore, and I’m better than you." Jay-Z insists Lil Wayne may have taken his ’saviour of hip-hop’ comments too far.

LATEST: Rapper NAS and US basketball star CHRIS WEBBER are to hand over "a substantial amount" to the family of slain New Yorker SEAN BELL after being told the dead man’s funeral costs have already been taken care of.
Outspoken Nas has already blasted the New York cops who opened fire on the unarmed 23-year-old and his passengers after he reversed into an unmarked patrol car, and has offered to pay for Bell’s funeral.
His generosity was matched by that of TYRA BANKS’ ex-boyfriend Webber, but both philanthropists were told the National Association For The Advancement Of Colored People (NAACP) had already made arrangements to cover the costs.
Instead, Nas and Webber will provide financial assistance to Bell’s fiancee and the couple’s two children.

British glamour model KATIE PRICE is in the early stages of pregnancy after suffering a miscarriage in July (06).
Price - formerly known as JORDAN - is married to Australian pop star PETER ANDRE, and has two children, HARVEY, four, and JUNIOR, 17 months.
Price was three-and-a-half months into her pregnancy this summer when she was rushed to Portland Hospital in London with stomach pains.
And the 28-year-old is desperate to avoid the stress of hiding her impending motherhood, fearing anxiety was the cause of her miscarriage.
She says, "I don’t want to jinx anything but I’m due next summer (07).
"The reason we’re announcing it so early is I’m fed up with trying to hide it every time I’m pregnant.
"Because I had the miscarriage earlier this year I’m really scared. That’s why I’m saying it earlier than I normally would.
"It’s more successful to keep it secret and I’m really suffering with sickness as well."
