LOHAN HITS BACK AT ALTMAN LETTER CRITICS
LINDSAY LOHAN’s has defended the letter she wrote following the death of director ROBERT ALTMAN, insisting the message’s unusual grammar and spelling doesn’t matter because it was written "from the heart".
After Altman died at the age of 81 on 20 November (06), Lohan wrote a tribute describing him as the "closest thing to my father and grandfather that I really do believe I’ve had in several years", signing the message "God Bless, peace and love always. Thank You, be adequite (sic)." Journalists have lashed out at the tribute’s unconventional grammar and spelling, with media commentators labelling it "alarmingly incoherent" and claiming Altman himself might have found it "comedic".
However, Lohan’s publicist LESLIE SLOANE ZELNIK has defended the actress, claiming she wrote the letter on her Blackberry just moments after hearing about Altman’s death.
She explains, "She was devastated, she was crying… here was a girl who found something special in this man that she felt so close to, and she was completely socked and blown away that he had just died. It was written very quickly and from the heart."
