DUTT GUILTY OF TERRORIST INVOLVEMENT
Bollywood actor SANJAY DUTT was today (28NOV06) found guilty of terrorist charges in India, relating to the 1993 Mumbai (Bombay) bomb blasts which killed 257 people.
The LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI (CARRY ON MUNNABHAI) star, who has continually protested his innocence, is one of 123 Muslims alleged to have taken part in the attacks in the country’s financial capital.
Dutt has already spent 18 months in jail for possession of an AK-47 rifle, but faces up to three more years in jail when sentenced later this year (06).
At the verdict, the actor protested, "I am the only earning member of the family." JUDGE PD KODE, presiding over the case, said Dutt was guilty of illegally possessing weapons given to him by suspects of the Mumbai blasts, but was not found to be "a terrorist or destructor".
Dutt has yet to be sentenced.
