LATEST: An African baby girl at the centre of an alleged adoption dispute involving MADONNA has settled into her new home with an Australian couple.
JOHN and ANGELA WILMOT made world headlines last week (ends26NOV06) after it was reported that the pop star and her husband GUY RITCHIE wanted to adopt the same little girl they had hoped to add to their family.
The Australian missionaries collected baby JESSICA from the Kondanani orphanage in Malawi on Saturday (25NOV06).
According to Australia’s Sunday Telegraph, the couple won permission on Friday (24NOV06) to foster Jessica, pending a full adoption.
John says, "She’s with us now, and that’s where she’s staying. We’re her foster parents… we’re just waiting for the adoption paperwork to go through." The couple say they were saddened their first days at home with their new baby had been overshadowed by the media storm created by false reports of Madonna’s involvement.
John adds, "Madonna did visit the orphanage where Jessica was, but there was no ‘tug-of-love’. She never had any intention of adopting her." Media reports last week (ends26NOV06) claimed Madonna was keen to adopt Jessica after also adopting 13-month-old DAVID BANDA from Malawi in September (06).

BRITNEY SPEARS and PARIS HILTON hit the clubs together in Los Angeles almost every night over the US Thanksgiving holiday weekend (ends26NOV06) and even went shopping with Spear’s son in tow.
The pair, who hung out in Las Vegas, Nevada the previous weekend (18-19NOV06) have been regularly enjoying each other’s company since Spears filed for divorce from KEVIN FEDERLINE earlier this month(NOV06).
They kicked-off the festivities on Tuesday (21NOV06) when Spears, 24, went to a post-AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS party Hilton hosted at her West Hollywood home.
The following night (22NOV06), they were spotted at Teddy’s at the Roosevelt Hotel in matching leopard-print outfits, while Spear’s estranged husband Federline was hosting an album party across town.
On Friday (24NOV06), Hilton left her sister NICKY and friends at the nightclub Les Deux to pick up Spears and the pair stopped at Hyde Lounge before eventually heading back to Les Deux.
On Saturday (25NOV06) the pair were back in action, shopping in Malibu with Spears’ son SEAN PRESTON, before heading back to Hyde to party with MARY-KATE and ASHLEY OLSEN later that night.
A source who saw them at Hyde Friday tells American publication People, "Paris was acting like Britney’s boyfriend. "She opened doors for her, held her hand, and even had her arm around Britney’s lower back. Britney happily accepted Paris’ friendly gestures’."

An aged fan of hit TV series ONE TREE HILL stunned the show’s star SOPHIA BUSH - when he begged to adopt the actress.
Bush was in the middle of a fans meet-and-greet show at a shopping mall with co-star HILARIE BURTON, when the 62-year-old man made his odd proposition.
Burton tells Maxim magazine, "This guy came up to Sophia and me with letters that said, ‘Since I can’t marry you, I’d like to adopt you.’" Bush adds, "It was so creepy. He told us his entire life story… It was well-intentioned, but at the same time, it’s like, ‘Because we can’t be in a relationship, you want to be my dad?’ That’s weird."

Pretty blonde KRISTIN CHENOWETH might seem like an unlikely screen wife for DANNY DeVITO, but she fell for the pint-sized actor on the set of new Christmas movie DECK THE HALLS.
The odd couple bonded on being so short and quickly became very fond of each other on the set.
The former THE WEST WING star says, "They did build our kitchen set a little lower (than usual) and we had a lot of laughs about that.
"We’re both little but I’m taller than Danny, which will probably never happen again with an adult. I love him. It was easy to kiss on him and hug him.

MARY POPPINS star DICK VAN DYKE ha been keeping a secret from his fans - he’s one of America’s top animators.
The 80-year-old actor has never turned his hobby into a career, despite getting several offers to give up acting and work for leading studios - and he boasts a home-computer animation studio to die for.
Van Dyke says, "It started out as a hobby about 15 years ago when they first came out with a little machine that would actually do animation.
"I’ve been doing it ever since and now I have a room full of equipment with a green screen and I’m struggling to keep up with the technology. It’s an addiction.
"It is so much fun and I’ve done pretty good. I’ve actually been offered a job as an animator, but I realised that the minute there’s a deadline, the fun is over, so I turned it down.
"I’ve got some good stuff in there but I’ve never sold any of it or even showed it."

Funnyman BEN STILLER wasn’t laughing after his encounter with monkey actor CRYSTAL on the set of his new movie A NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM - because she slapped him silly.
And, to make matters even worse for the MEET THE FOCKERS star, he wasn’t allowed to retaliate - and had to take his angst out on the ape’s puppet double.
Stiller says, "She wears a diaper and resents the fact that she can’t control herself so she has all this pent-up aggression.
"She gets to hit me in one scene but I think there’s some animal protection rule, whereby you can’t hit a monkey back - because they’ll bite you or something.
"I couldn’t hit her back, so, when it came time for my close-up I’d get the monkey puppet to hit which was not satisfying so I have unresolved issues with Crystal. If I saw her now I would still want to smack her.
"(In the scene) she could hit me as hard as she wanted and was encouraged to hit me hard. The trainer was behind me, yelling, ‘Smack the crap out of him!’ It was really annoying."

HUGH JACKMAN is set to produce a third TV series for US network CBS with his latest project revolving around passengers on a high-end cruise line.
VOYAGES will be an hour-long drama which will be produced by Jackman and his business partner JOHN PALERMO through their Seed Prods company.
MAX MAKOWSKI, who directed the Singapore-set crime thriller ONE LAST DANCE, will write and direct the project.
Jackman explains, "We were looking for a new way to tell a story on the small screen and Max hit one with his idea." In addition to Voyages, Jackman is also re-working the UK hit show BLACKPOOL and is set to star in the US pilot episode, renamed VIVA BLACKPOOL.

The brains behind the upcoming movie adaptation of children’s book CHARLOTTE’S WEB is all set to revive one of The Netherlands’ leading exports - THE SMURFS.
Producer JORDAN KERNER is planning a 3-D, computer-generated Smurfs movie after sitting through all 234 episodes of the popular cartoon series featuring the magical blue beings.
He tells moviehole.net, "Having seen all 234 episodes of the show, we’ve been working really hard at looking where all the holes were in the episodes.
"What we’ve done is we’ve plugged all those holes in a trilogy of three movies, and we reveal things as we go along." Kerner admits securing the rights to The Smurfs was tough because the characters’ creators weren’t sure they wanted a Hollywood producer to meddle with their legacy.
He adds, "They’re all so very protective of The Smurfs, so it took me five years of negotiation to get the rights. And then, they were very uncertain about what story we wanted to tell.
"Then we got the rights on everyone’s faith that they also had an ability to veto, and presented them with the treatment. They just loved it.
"The trilogy will be the animated THE LORD OF THE RINGS… It’s an epic story."

The bodyguard caught up in the middle of the ROBERT F KENNEDY assassination in 1968 has heaped praise on EMILIO ESTEVEZ’s new movie BOBBY, about the tragedy he has already seen the film twice.
REV ROSEY GRIER was assigned to take care of Kennedy’s wife ETHEL on the campaign trail as the Senator fought to become US President.
He was standing just feet away from Kennedy when he was gunned down at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, and actually appears in footage taken on the night that Estevez used in his film.
Grier admits he’s stunned by the film and how realistic everything is: "I watched it and I was trying to get the pieces together… in each segment, where there was like an individual piece, that all came together. It was a puzzle.
"It really impacted me when it all came together in the end. It was really dynamite. I had to hold myself together, because it was that powerful."

SHARON STONE spent most days on the set of new movie BOBBY stunned and speechless because she couldn’t believe she was rubbing shoulders with such big stars.
The actress, who plays a stylist in the new movie, admits she had to playfully bully her new onscreen husband, WILLIAM H MACY, because she couldn’t shake her reverence towards him.
She says, "You just look across the room and Bill Macy, oh my God, when he came to the set I almost passed out.
"When they said, ‘He’s gonna play your husband I couldn’t believe it. I literally had to push and become argumentative with him before I did the scenes, so I could break this reverential feeling I have about him to do the work." Stone was also impressed to be working alongside HARRY BELAFONTE: "Harry was the very first record I ever sang to when I was a little girl, wrapped in a bath towel with a little plastic flower behind my ear and using the thing you pull the drapes with to sing into."

Former BEVERLY HILLS, 90210 star TORI SPELLING has been selling her clothes and household goods in online auctions and is now also putting her home on the market.
The pregnant star has been auctioning off her belongings on eBay through Los Angeles-based broker SHARON YOST, who specialises in selling off estates belonging to people in the entertainment industry.
Yost is now advertising on her website that Spelling’s Studio City, California home will be put on the market next month (DEC06).
Spelling is currently expecting her first child with husband DEAN McDERMOTT and they are set to star in a reality series where they run their own bed and breakfast.

Mexican TV host RAUL VELASCO died on Sunday (26NOV06) in Acapulco after a long battle with ill health. He was 73.
Velasco hosted SIEMPRE EN DOMINGO, one of Mexico’s most popular and enduring television programmes Velasco was credited with launching many of Mexico’s biggest pop stars on his show, which ran from 1969 until 1998.
Mexican President VINCENTE FOX called the death an "irreparable loss" in an open letter to Velasco’s wife DORLE KLOKOW, which was distributed by the President’s office.
Fox called Velasco "a founder of entertainment journalism. He leaves us a particularly memorable story of the happiness and entertainment he knew how to communicate".
Earlier this month (NOV06), Velasco’s son ARTURO told local media stomach problems had prevented Velasco from appearing at a ceremony in his honour sponsored by an entertainers’ union.
An October (06) homage to Velasco was attended by pop stars including ALEJANDRA GUZMAN and Puerto Rican singers RICKY MARTIN and CHAYANNE.
In 1998, hepatitis forced Velasco to undergo a liver transplant, which local media said hastened the demise of his show.

Actor/director EMILIO ESTEVEZ has killed reports suggesting the boozy lounge singer played by his ex-fiance DEMI MOORE in new movie BOBBY is based on late, great ROSEMARY CLOONEY because the WHITE CHRISTMAS star didn’t drink.
Clooney was present at The Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles on the night ROBERT F KENNEDY was assassinated in 1968 - the premise for Estevez’s new film BOBBY - but she wasn’t performing.
The director insists Moore’s alcoholic character wasn’t based on any real-life lounge act.
He says, "This character that Demi plays is not based on Rosemary… Rosemary Clooney was there. She was a great supporter of Bobby." In fact, it was the EVERLY BROTHERS who were performing at the Ambassador on the night of Kennedy’s assassination.

LATEST: More than 7,000 film fans made history in Italy last night (26NOV06) when they attended the first world premiere held at the Vatican.
THE NATIVITY STORY, a new movie about the birth of JESUS CHRIST, debuted as part of a benefit in the hallowed Paul VI Hall.
POPE BENEDICT XVI was not present for the screening, but US Archbishop JOHN FOLEY led the event by praising the film and giving director CATHERINE HARDWICKE the Vatican’s stamp of approval.
Hardwicke was thrilled by the special screening and insisted she never expected the Pope to attend: "I think the Pope is pretty busy."

LATEST: ANNA NICOLE SMITH and her partner and attorney HOWARD K STERN have gone public with their Bahamian home battle, insisting the developer attempting to evict them is simply seeking publicity.
The couple has remained silent amid allegations from G BEN THOMPSON that he was short-changed by the former model after affording her a loan to buy the island retreat where she has been living for the past four months.
Thompson insisted Smith, who reportedly briefly dated the developer, would be out of the house by 31 October (06) after gong public with claims the place was rightly his.
His claims upset politicians in the Bahamas threatened to end Smith’s residency on the island if Thompson’s allegations were true.
But now Smith and Stern have agreed to talk about the feud on US TV and will appear during tonight’s (27NOV06) ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT news show in the US in an effort to give their side of the fight.
Smith says, "Someone is trying to evict me (but) I own this house and I’m going to let the courts handle it." She also fights news that her electricity was recently cut off.
She explains, "I heard my electricity was off, but it isn’t… The electricity was shut off for an hour one day… Down here it goes out… I had a generator."

Former BAYWATCH star PAMELA ANDERSON has filed for divorce from husband KID ROCK after less than four months of marriage.
The couple married in a lavish "celebration ceremony" aboard a yacht moored off St Tropez, France on 29 July (06), but made it official when they returned to the US and wed at the Beverly Hills Courthouse.
Anderson, 39, has hired famed celebrity divorce lawyer NEAL HERSH, whose clients include KIM BASINGER, HALLE BERRY, DREW BARRYMORE and DENISE RICHARDS, and cites irreconcilable differences.
Anderson’s representative TRACY NGUYEN tells American publication People, "Pamela filed for divorce last week. It wasn’t a happy Thanksgiving." Earlier this month (NOV06), Anderson miscarried what would have been her and Rock’s first child together.
She has two children - DYLAN, eight, and BRANDON, ten - from her marriage to rocker TOMMY LEE.
According to entertainment website TMZ.com, the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement, but because they were married for such a short time, it probably will have little impact on the divorce proceedings.
Anderson is currently in Vancouver, Canada filming BLONDE AND BLONDER with DENISE RICHARDS.

Rock legend KEITH MOON was so dedicated to his reputation as a wild man, he once missed a flight just so he could return to his hotel room and hurl a TV into the pool.
THE WHO guitarist PETE TOWNSHEND recalls he was in a car with Moon, on the way to catch an aeroplane when the drummer insisted on returning to the hotel room, where he’d spent the previous night.
The guitarist says, "We were late for the plane and Keith was like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve got to go back to my hotel room.’ We thought he’d left drugs in his room or something.
"We turned around, we know we’re gonna miss the plane and we might be late for the gig. We rush back to the hotel and he rushes in, comes out with the TV set and throws it into the swimming pool, gets back in the car and goes, ‘Phew, I nearly forgot!’" Townshend resisted the temptation to scream at his wacky bandmate - because he knew how important throwing TVs into pools was for Moon.
He adds, "Throwing television sets out of hotel rooms is very, very, very important. F**king hell, it’s very important that somebody does it and does it often. The people that do it should be regarded as being very special."

The manager/father who turned TANYA TUCKER into one of country music’s biggest stars has died after a long battle with lung cancer.
Construction worker BEAU TUCKER gave up work to take charge of his daughter’s acting and singing career.
Tucker was instrumental in landing the singer top slots on touring country shows and also helped win her a role opposite ROBERT REDFORD in 1972 film JEREMIAH JOHNSON.
Tucker had her first hit at 13 with DELTA DAWN. She scored her first number one a year later with WHAT’S YOUR MAMA’S NAME?. Both hits came courtesy of her father and the contacts he made in Nashville, Tennessee.
Tanya Tucker dedicated her Saturday night (25NOV06) show at the Atlantis Casino Resort in Reno, Nevada to the memory of her father.
