THE GAME BACK ON TOP BUT WELL SHORT OF A MILLION
THE GAME is back at the top of the US album charts but his new release failed to muster the one million-plus sales the rapper was hoping for.
His new album DOCTOR’S ADVOCATE debuted at number one with 358,000 sales in its first week - over 200,000 copies fewer than his first album THE DOCUMENTARY.
Optimistic The Game had hoped to double the first-week success of his debut album when Doctor’s Advocate was released last week (14NOV06).
AKON’s new album KONVICTED debuted at number two with impressive 284,000 sales, while last week’s number one album, hits compilation NOW, THAT’S WHAT I CALL MUSIC 23 falls to three on the new chart.
Quirky rock duo TENACIOUS D score a new entry in the top 10, at eight, with the soundtrack to new film THE PICK OF DESTINY, which hits US cinemas today (22NOV06).
And +44’s debut album WHEN YOUR HEART STOPS BEATING rounds out the new top 10 at 10 with opening week sales of 66,000. The group features MARK HOPPUS and TRAVIS BARKER from BLINK-182.
