LATEST: JESSICA SIMPSON and JOHN MAYER are giving their relationship another chance, according to media reports in the US.
Friends of the couple confirm they are spending time together and taking things slowly.
A source close to Mayer tells American publication People, "They’re fond of each other. There’s a flirtation." A Simpson source adds they are "enjoying each other’s company and seeing how things go. There’s no title to their relationship." On Saturday (18NOV06) Simpson and Mayer were spotted in Los Angeles and have become regulars at Paradise Cove Cafe in Malibu.
They became friends in June (06) when they ran into each other at a New York City nightclub.

LATEST: MADONNA is embroiled in a new adoption controversy after being accused of competing with an Australian couple to adopt an African baby girl.
Although the singer’s representative LIZ ROSENBERG has denied the star is in the process of adopting another child, a couple has been told the singer has shown interest in the same young girl they are trying to adopt.
JOHN and ANGELA WILMOT are in the process of adopting 18-month-old JESSICA KONDANANI and fear Madonna’s celebrity status may prevent her from joining their family.
Angela tells Sydney’s Daily Telegraph, "We were already in the process of adopting Jessica and we hope we will be successful.
"We heard that Madonna was interested in a child, who we now hear is Jessica - but we are quite far down the line with our adoption." The couple are Baptist aid workers who moved to Malawi to work as missionaries seven years ago with their two sons.
They have already adopted four Malawian children from the Kondanani Orphan Care Centre and are keen to adopt more.
It is believed Madonna, 48, originally intended to adopt Jessica before eventually choosing 13-month-old DAVID BANDA because of concerns over his health.
The HUNG UP singer spent two hours with Jessica earlier this year (06) and has returned to visit her.
Madonna and her husband, director GUY RITCHIE, caused controversy in September (06) when they adopted Banda and were accused of receiving preferential treatment to expedite the process.

New JAMES BOND DANIEL CRAIG might be a hit at the box office, but Americans still think he has a long way to go to topple PIERCE BROSNAN as the sexiest 007, according to a new magazine poll.
Readers of In Touch were asked to vote for the sexiest Bond and 52 per cent felt Irishman Brosnan is by far and away the hottest superspy.
Craig came in third with 13 per cent of the vote, behind SIR SEAN CONNERY, who netted 32 per cent.
SIR ROGER MOORE and TIMOTHY DALTON also made the list with two and one per cent of the vote respectively.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA star ANNE HATHAWAY is teaming up with STEVE CARELL for a big screen remake of the 1960s hit sitcom GET SMART.
The movie will follow clueless secret agent MAXWELL SMART, a spy for CONTROL, who is fighting the evil forces of KAOS.
The feature film adaptation will be set in the present day with Control falling on hard times after not receiving government funding matching other spy agencies such as the CIA.
Carell, who has been onboard since the project was announced several years ago, will play Smart, a role originated by DON ADAMS.
SMALLVILLE star KRISTEN KREUK was rumoured to be the front runner for the role of AGENT 99, made famous by BARBARA FELDON, which has now gone to Hathaway.
Shooting on the project will begin in March (07).

CAMERON DIAZ stopped eating pork after learning that pigs have the mental capacity of a three-year-old child, but recently started eating it again because "it’s so goddamned good".
The star abandoned pork products after realising the animal’s mental capacity was the same as her young niece, but soon found she couldn’t resist the temptation.
She tells Self magazine, "I started eating pork again, because it’s so goddamned good! Food is one of my biggest pleasures. I love to eat.
"I love to feed people. My body functions best when I eat consistently. I pretty much eat the same thing every day for weeks at time." The star recently ate the same breakfast every day for several months in a row - garlic rice with broccolini, eggs, lemon and either chicken or beef.
She adds, "I started making it when I’d go surfing, because I could go out for four hours and not get hungry and have the energy I needed.
"Add by the way, people would come over for breakfast all the time. It’s the best breakfast in the world."

British glamour model KATIE ‘JORDAN’ PRICE is planning to have her fake breasts reduced, so she call sell her G-cup implants on the internet.
The surgically-enhanced beauty is fed up with her top-heavy physique and wants to scale down her bust.
Price will put the implants she has removed on auction site eBay and donate some of the proceeds to charity.
The 28-year-old says, "I can’t wait. I still want them to be big - they’re certainly not going to be small. I just want them to be more pert.
"I’ll put them on eBay and I’ll want a minimum of £1 million. I’ll give some of that to charity."

Comedy screenwriter JIM PIDDOCK is revisiting President JOHN F KENNEDY’s assassination in a serious new movie that focuses on the only man who was ever charged with the murder.
The writer, who also appeared alongside SIR MICHAEL CAINE in THE PRESTIGE, has studied CLAY SHAW for his new film project and he hopes his next movie will help answer questions about the late leader’s death.
He tells website Moviehole.net, "Shaw was the only man ever to be charged with the murder of President Kennedy. It was a complete travesty.
"He was so obviously the victim of the messianic, megalomaniacal District Attorney JIM GARRISON and yet, if it hadn’t been for the diligent and relentless work of a journalist called HUGH AYNESWORTH, and a couple of others, Shaw would have been convicted." Piddock, who also penned the screenplay for SAMUEL L JACKSON flop THE MAN, insists his study of the Kennedy assassination will be a very different film from "the entertaining, but entirely fictional piece of nonsense that OLIVER STONE made, called JFK." He adds, "Aynesworth said to me, "Well, at least Stone got two things right about Kennedy’s death: the time and the date." Piddock’s film will come hot on the heels of EMILIO ESTEVEZ’s acclaimed new movie BOBBY, which follows the events surrounding the assassination of Kennedy’s brother ROBERT F KENNEDY in 1968.

FRANK SINATRA’s family are calling on budding cyberspace videomakers to turn the crooner’s classic COME FLY WITH ME into a new short film.
Daughter TINA SINATRA and the Sinatra estate bosses have teamed up with consumer media company YouTube to launch a new video competition that incorporates Ol’ Blue Eyes, his standard hit and one of his favourite cities, Las Vegas.
The Frank Sinatra Enterprises Come Fly Away With Frank Sinatra contest offers the YouTube "community" the chance to create a video using the classic hit as the theme.
The project is being launched to promote the newly released SINATRA: VEGAS boxed set of previously unreleased live Las Vegas performances.
Submissions for the contest begin today (21NOV06) and end on 18 December (06). The winning video will be hand-picked by the Sinatra family and the winner will be flown to Las Vegas for an all-expense paid trip of "lights, glitz and glamour".

Actor CHRISTIAN SLATER used the time he spent on the set of new movie BOBBY networking and seeking more work with his heroes.
The ambitious TRUE ROMANCE star took every opportunity to promote himself when cameras weren’t rolling on EMILIO ESTEVEZ’s star-studded movie.
And Slater wound up landing roles in two other movies alongside his acting heroes and Bobby co-stars WILLIAM H MACY and SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS.
He says, "There was a lot of wonderful stuff that came out of Bobby. I got to meet and shake hands with a lot of wonderful actors and handed Bill Macy, who plays my boss in the film, a script and we shot a movie called HE WAS A QUIET MAN together.
"I also got to work on Anthony Hopkins’s movie SLIPSTREAM from meeting him in Bobby.
"That was great. There were lessons on that I will take with me for the rest of my career - just being in his presence and around him. He was very open and enthusiastic and passionate.
"Anthony Hopkins is a great example of not only a phenomenal movie star but a great gentleman."

One of the stars of hit new movie THE PRESTIGE has blasted movie executives at Warner Bros for failing to invite him to the film’s Hollywood premiere.
Actor/writer JIM PIDDOCK was thrilled to be given the chance of working alongside his hero SIR MICHAEL CAINE and agreed to take a pay cut and a smaller role to join the cast.
But while he had fun shooting the magical movie, in which he plays a prosecutor, he did not take kindly to the premiere snub he received.
He tells Moviehole.net, "Michael (Caine) was delightful and CHRIS NOLAN (director) made a terrific film. However, for the privilege, or should I say the prestige, of working on it, I got paid less than I did for my first movie nearly 20 years ago.
"That is almost acceptable, if you get treated well." "Everyone was certainly nice enough when we shot it, but I was very surprised not to get invited to any kind of wrap party, cast and crew screening, or the premiere.
"(I didn’t even get) the usual cast and crew T-shirt, jacket, tatty memorabilia from the studio. I think if you’re making a $40 million film and you ask an actor to do role a lot smaller than they’re used to, for considerably less money than they normally get, you have a certain responsibility to thank them somehow."

AISHWARYA RAI’s forthcoming movie JODHA-AKBAR is in trouble with authorities, after an animal rights group claimed animals were being mistreated during the production.
Director ASHUTOSH GOWARIKAR’s film company has been accused of cruelty by the People For Animals (PFA) group, who filed a police complaint and public lawsuit against the firm.
The animal activists claim the 80 elephants, 100 horses and 55 camels used on set have been ill treated.
NARESH KUMAR KADIYAN, chairman of the PFA, says, "These animals are being subjected to great hardships during the shooting and there is no facility of a vet doctor.
"These animals, fully decked up, are made to stand up long hours in the hot sun."

JEREMY SLATE, the versatile actor who co-wrote and starred in the cult film HELL’S ANGELS ‘69 and went on to appear in the daytime television drama ONE LIFE TO LIVE, has died. He was 80.
Slate died at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles on Sunday (19NOV06) of complications after surgery for oesophageal cancer, according to his agent BONNIE BLACK.
He gained fame in the early 1960s on the television series THE AQUANAUTS and a few years later appeared alongside ELVIS PRESLEY in GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS!.
The actor guest-starred on nearly 100 television shows, including GUNSMOKE, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, BEWITCHED and POLICE STORY.
Slate played CHUCK WILSON on soap opera ONE LIFE TO LIVE from 1979-1987, his longest-running role. Most recently, he appeared on the hit sitcom MY NAME IS EARL.
Often cast as a tough guy, Slate appeared during the late 1960s in a string of biker films, including THE BORN LOSERS and Hells Angels ‘69, which he also co-wrote.

THE SIMPLE LIFE star NICOLE RICHIE has axed her personal stylist and close confidante RACHEL ZOE after more than two years.
Zoe has been accused of promoting unhealthy body images and advises a roster of stick-thin clients including MISCHA BARTON and LINDSAY LOHAN.

America’s biggest and most successful annual music festival, Coachella, will run for three days in 2007.
The two-day Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival has hosted star-studded international line-ups since its debut in the California desert in 2001 and now promoters want to expand the fun.
Coachella bosses are also hoping to add a new country music festival, which will run at their Empire Polo Field site in Indio, California the weekend after.
Next year’s (07) three-day Coachella will be held over the weekend of 27-29 April (07), while the country festival, which will feature WILLIE NELSON and KENNY CHESNEY, will debut the following weekend (27-29APR07).
The new unnamed country festival, which will also feature GEORGE STRAIT, EMMYLOU HARRIS and LUCINDA WILLIAMS, will boast four stages, including a "storytelling area," according to Billboard.com.
Promoter LOUIS MESSINA says, "This is the first year, and I think this is something that’s going to be around for a long time and grow into something really special."
