The celebrity couple exchanged rings during the ceremony designed by Cartier which were made of white gold with diamonds.
Holmes’ off-the-shoulder GIORGIO ARMANI-designed gown featured an ivory silk train adorned with Valenciennes lace and Swarovski beaded crystal embroidery.
She had on a ivory tulle floor-length veil and ivory silk shoes and carried a bouquet of flowers also designed by Armani featured calla lilies wrapped in leaves of galas and steelgrass.
Holmes’s sister and Matron of Honour, NANCY BLAYLOCK, wore a black charmeuse, silk-layered evening dress, with an empire waist and floor length skirt. Her off-the-shoulder neckline was made of black lace.
The best man was Cruise’s best friend DAVID MISCAVIGE.
The couple’s daughter, SURI, seven months, and Cruise’s children with ex-wife NICOLE KIDMAN, ISABELLA, 13 and CONNOR, 11, were present.
According to American publication Us Weekly, Connor carried Suri down the aisle who wore various layers of organza and chiffon.
According to designer GIORGIO ARMANI, the baby’s dress was "inspired by her mother’s bridal gown." Following the ceremony, guests were treated to cocktails and specially prepared Italian hors d’oeuvres, followed by a multi-course meal.
At the wedding reception, which was accented with red roses, the bride wore an asymmetric champagne Giorgio Armani Prive evening dress of silk organza decorated in Swarovski crystal beads.
The couple’s five-tiered white chocolate wedding cake was decorated with marzipan roses and was studded with white chocolate chips and featured white chocolate mouse and white chocolate cream filling.
Holmes’ first dance was with her father to WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD and that the newlyweds’ first dance was to SONGBIRD by FLEETWOOD MAC.
According to US news show ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT, Holmes did not toss her bouquet.
The couple left Rome on Sunday (19NOV06) for the Maldives in the Indian Ocean for their honeymoon.

Movie star EDWARD NORTON is calling for filmmakers and actors to stop attending movie awards or risk turning the Oscars into just another self-congratulatory ceremony for Hollywood.
The actor is appalled with the amount of ceremonies that stack up between now and March (07) and he finds it unnecessary for his peers to attend so many.
He says, "It’s just a bloodbath. What has evolved in terms of this orgy of self-congratulation at the end of the year, everybody’s willingness to schlep out for every single little… It’s like half the best filmmakers in the world are showing up for the `Buster Brown Film Awards’ and it’s gotta stop.
"We’ve debased the integrity and the specialness of the Academy Awards, which is the true compliment within the industry among peers.
"The world has got so many problems in it, the last thing that the world needs to see is the same group of people congratulating themselves over and over again for the same totally disposable pieces of work."

Martial arts movie star JACKIE CHAN has launched his own cosmetics line in his native Hong Kong.
The enterprising RUSH HOUR star, who already owns a clothing label and a restaurant chain, has teamed up with Chinese businesswoman MAGGIE CHU to launch The Jackie Chan Organic Skin Care Line.
The skincare products are packaged with recycled materials and use "natural ingredients that don’t pollute."

ROBIN WILLIAMS hopes movie fans who helped propel animated family film HAPPY FEET to the top of the US box office this weekend (19NOV06) will take a minute to consider the dangers of global warming after watching penguins dance.
The funnyman insists there is a subtle, serious message behind the fun film, and he hopes it will prompt parents to talk to their kids about environmental and conservation issues.
Williams explains, "One thing that’s really happening that the movie doesn’t mention is Antarctica is melting both north and south poles are turning into a pool. I hope, in wanting to know more about penguins, kids find out what’s really going down.
"There’s large areas that don’t exist; areas the size of New Zealand have melted. When the poles melt water rises and large parts of this world will be under water.
"Meanwhile, factory ships come out and play this game of hit and run with international fishing limits and they basically said they fish like hunting squirrels with a bulldozer.
"They pull everything in looking for certain kinds of fish and throw the other fish back, even though they’re dead. They have fished out large populations of fish throughout the world and if you’re a population that depends on that, like the penguins, you’ll find your food source rapidly depleting.
"As they push their way further north it really screws with the entire food chain. The number of instinct animals has been dramatically increasing. As human beings we have to wake up or we’re gone. The penguins will go first and then it’ll be us."

Moviemaker SPIKE LEE has launched a new initiative at his former college in a bid to flood journalism with African-American sports writers.
The sports fan is a member of the board of trustees Morehouse College in Georgia - a private, historically black liberal arts school - and used his weight to prompt a new journalism school and curriculum.
Lee insists newspapers need more black sports writers to match the growing number of African-Americans playing professional sport.
He says, "We started the Morehouse College School of Journalism and Sports Journalism. We were trying to do it for the last seven years and we finally got it through.
"Right now there’s a dearth of representation of AfricanAmericans in the sports industry as far, as journalism is concerned.
"Seventy-five per cent of the players in the NFL (National Football League) are black, an even higher number of African Americans play basketball, but, if you look in the press box and the magazines and the newsrooms, you don’t have that representation now, so that’s what we want to do. It will start next semester. Registration is going on now."

BETTYE AKERMAN, who played DR MAGGIE GRAHAM on the popular BEN CASEY medical series in the 1960s and was the widow of actor SAM JAFFE, has died. She was 82.
Ackerman died 1 November (06) at her home in Columbia, South Carolina after having a stroke on 28 October (06), according to her brother, ROBERT ACKERMAN.
She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease a few years after selling her home in Beverly Hills in 1998 and moving to Columbia to be near family members.
She played an anaesthesiologist on the hit TV series Ben Casey that debuted in 1961 with VINCE EDWARDS in the title role of the idealistic young surgeon and Jaffe as his fatherly mentor, DR DAVID ZORBA.
Ackerman met Jaffe when they appeared together in a New York City stage production of MOLIERE’s TARTUFFE in 1955. Jaffe, who had played the title role in GUNGA DIN and the HIGH LAMA in LOST HORIZON, was more than 30 years Ackerman’s senior. They were married in 1956.
The actress, who made her film debut in the 1959 drama FACE OF FIRE with CAMERON MITCHELL and JAMES WHITMORE, made numerous guest appearances on TV series, including PERRY MASON, POLICE STORY, THE WALTONS, and ST ELSEWHERE. She was also the original CONSTANCE MacKENZIE on the daytime drama RETURN TO PEYTON PLACE, which ran from 1972 to 1974.
In the 1960s, she launched a side career as an artist and exhibited her work in the Los Angeles area, New York, Georgia and South Carolina.

Former SEINFELD star MICHAEL RICHARDS left comedy fans stunned during a Friday night (17NOV06) performance at Los Angeles’ Laugh Factory when he blasted a pair of African-American hecklers with a racist rant.
The funnyman, who played quirky COSMO KRAMER in the beloved sitcom, lost his cool during a stand-up routine at the comedy club when two black audience members challenged him - and his comments were caught on camera.
News website TMZ.com, which obtained the footage, reports the comedy show turned ugly when Richards realised his hecklers were black.
He screamed at one of the men, "Fifty years ago we’d have you upside down with a f**king fork up your ass." And then, when the playful heckling continued, Richards objected further, ranting, "You can talk… you’re brave now motherf**ker. Throw his ass out.
He’s a n**ger! He’s a n**ger…! Look, there’s a n**ger!" One of the hecklers then turned on Richards, shouting, "That’s un-f**king called for, ain’t necessary." Responding to the crowd’s shock, Richards responded, "They’re going to arrest me for calling a black man a n**ger." Many audience members then left the venue. One African-American audience member, DARRYL PITTS, feels Richards should be reprimanded for his racist comments.
He tells CNN, "I feel like something has to be done about. He threw those words around very cavalierly, he mentioned hanging upside down from a tree…
It’s very upsetting." As WENN went to press, a protest was being planned outside the Laugh Factory.

Hollywood heartthrob JOSH HARTNETT has added fuel to rumours that his relationship with SCARLETT JOHANSSON is on the rocks after being caught holidaying with a mystery woman in Australia.
While on a break from filming in New Zealand, Hartnett spent the weekend in Sydney, Australia with a mystery woman as reports began to surface that his relationship with Johannson may be over.
Members of the press caught up with the couple as they prepared to leave Sydney late Sunday (19NOV06) with an angry Hartnett telling photographers to "get f**ked" as they walked through the airport.
His brunette companion - wearing dark glasses, a hat and trying to cover her face with her bag and jacket - bolted into the terminal to avoid being photographed.
The couple had previously spent the weekend holed up at hotel Blue in the Sydney suburb of Woolloomooloo.
Earlier, the couple had eaten at a nearby restaurant Salon Blanc, for the third time in two days, sitting discretely in a back corner of the celebrity hotspot at Woolloomooloo Wharf to avoid attention.
According to Sydney’s Daily Telegraph, the pair stopped at the restaurant for tapas on Saturday afternoon (18NOV06) and dinner and cocktails later that night, before returning again Sunday (19NOV06).
Hartnett was in Australia while on a brief break from filming the horror flick 30 DAYS OF NIGHT in New Zealand.
Media reports suggested a rift between Hartnett and Johansson was developing because of long time periods spent apart while they were both filming in different parts of the world.
Johansson is currently in England filming THE OTHER BOLYEN GIRL with NATALIE PORTMAN.

Pop star JANET JACKSON has slammed reports she is expecting a baby with her longtime love JERMAINE DUPRI.
Recent online media reports claimed the 40-year-old star was pregnant with her first child and had decided to cancel her tour next year (07) to support her latest release, 20 YO.
A representative for the singer tells American publication Us Weekly, "No, she is not pregnant and she is not canceling her tour." KEVIN COSTNER is planning to become a property tycoon - and has already picked out land in Deadwood, South Dakota, to build a housing development.

Danish actor MADS MIKKELSEN’s most action-packed scene in the latest JAMES BOND epic CASINO ROYALE was folding a pair of aces. Mikkelsen, who stars as LE CHIFFRE, banker to the world’s terrorist organisations in the movie, was really looking forward to doing some action scenes.
He says, "I kept telling them I’m a gymnast! I can do this and this. The bosses of several Fox affiliate networks are refusing to air the controversial OJ SIMPSON TV special in which the former footballer discusses hypothetically how he would have killed his ex-wife.
Simpson was acquitted of the murders of NICOLE and her friend RON GOLDMAN in 1995 in a criminal case, but was found liable for their deaths in 1997 and ordered to pay $33.5 million (£18.6 million) in damages to the families of the victims. The two-part special, IF I DID IT, HERE’S HOW IT HAPPENED is scheduled to air on media mogul RUPERT MURDOCH’s network on 27 November (06), but Lin Broadcasting and Pappas Broadcasting, which own a total of nine Fox affiliates, have no interest in showing the footage.
General manager of Lin-owned WLUK-TV, JAY ZOLLAR, says, "After careful consideration regarding the nature of the show, as well as the feedback we received from the viewers of northeast Wisconsin, we are determined that this programming was not serving the local public interest." Pappas stations meanwhile, are uninterested in helping Simpson profit from the controversial project.
Simpson has already come under fire from the families of his ex-wife and Goldman for trying to make money from their deaths.

The LORD OF THE RINGS director PETER JACKSON has blasted the Hollywood bosses behind planned movie adaption of THE HOBBIT after they turned down his offer of directing the fantasy ‘prequel’.
The book, which takes place years before the events in Lord of the Rings, was expected to be filmed by Jackson but New Line cinema, who made the blockbusting trilogy, are now looking for another director to adapt J.R.R. TOLKIEN’s work onto the big screen.
Jackson reveals he was to not only direct The Hobbit, but there was another prequel in the works as well, covering the events leading up to those depicted in Lord of the Rings.
He says, "MARK ORDESKY (studio boss) told us that New Line would no longer be requiring our services on the Hobbit and the LOTR prequel. This was a courtesy call to let us know that the studio was now actively looking to hire another filmmaker for both projects. "We are very sorry our involvement with The Hobbit has been ended in this way. This outcome is not what we anticipated or wanted, but neither do we see any positive value in bitterness. We now have no choice but to let the idea of a film of The Hobbit go and move forward with other projects." This is the second high profile film that has slipped through Jackson’s fingers, after the cinema adaptation of the computer game HALO, which he was producing, was dropped by studio bosses because of the escalating costs.

Actress SUSAN SARANDON has hit out at US Army bosses for refusing to show troops the new documentary THE GROUND TRUTH: AFTER THE KILLINGS.
The film, directed by PATRICIA FOULKROD, is about the difficulties Iraq War veterans face after returning home from the Middle East.
Sarandon tells the New York Daily News, "I understand why the Armed Forces would be afraid to show this film, because it shows the huge gap in recognising and providing help for returning soldiers’ psychological and physical needs." Foulkrod adds, "It’s hard for (troops) to reconnect to their families.
They’ve been in a very dramatic situation. The adjustment is so difficult. They come back and are offered only minimum wage. We spent so much money on the war, the government didn’t really set aside the proper money to take care of these guys when they get back." Replying to these criticisms, a spokeswoman for the Army says, "This is more of an activist piece than a documentary. If you look at The Ground Truth, it has a definite point of view. We don’t say, ‘Don’t go see it’, but we don’t see why we should promote it." Other celebrities backing the documentary include THE OC’s OLIVIA WILDE and pop veteran CHER.
