ROSSI THOUGHT PARFITT WAS GAY AT FIRST MEETING
STATUS QUO rocker FRANCIS ROSSI was convinced his bandmate RICK PARFITT was gay when they first met in the 1960s, because he was wearing a silver suit.
The musicians crossed paths at the Minehead branch of British holiday camp Butlins, where Rossi was playing with his then-band THE SPECTRES - and the frontman was intrigued by the young man in the outlandish outfit.
Parfitt recalls, "Francis thought I was homosexual because I was only about 17 and I walked into the ballroom where his band were playing, wearing a silver suit." Rossi adds, "He was very attractive… He was showbizzy, effeminate and camp."
