British actress RACHEL WEISZ has provoked controversy by claiming pregnant women can drink alcohol.
The CHAIN REACTION star, who gave birth to her first child with director DARREN ARONOFSKY earlier this year (06), doesn’t reveal if she drank while she was expecting six-month-old son HENRY CHANCE. But she claims it is "fine" to drink wine while pregnant, explaining European women regularly do so.
But medical experts have dismissed her comments as "ill-informed" and "dangerous".
Specialist, DR RAJA MUKHERJEE - from London’s St George’s Hospital - says, "If Rachel Weisz has drunk during her pregnancy and the baby is fine, then that’s just pure luck.
"The problem is that you don’t know who is at risk and who is not.
"There is a risk throughout pregnancy. There is potential harm to the unborn baby’s brain at any point and that is fact."
