Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:45 pm

HUGH JACKMAN has dared his closest pal to turn his back on his beloved Australia and follow England in the upcoming Ashes cricket clash between the two nations.
Jackman came up with the idea as part of his new Australian reality TV series AN AUSSIE GOES BARMY.
The show, which debuts at the end of the month (29NOV06) in Australia, is the first TV series for Jackman’s Seed Productions.
According to movieline.net, the five-part reality series will follow 37-year-old GUS WORLAND as he puts his patriotism on the line and joins the Barmy Army, England’s most loyal and passionate cricket supporters’ club.
And to make Worland’s job even more difficult, Jackman has insisted his mate will sit among the English faithful, wearing his Aussie team’s green and gold colours proudly.
Worland, who lives in England and has an English wife, has been Jackman’s best friend since their kindergarten days.
Cameras will follow Worland as he attends not only the test match in each city, but also takes part in wild parties, the organised tours and the cricket matches between the Barmy Army and Australia’s The Fanatics.

CRAWFORD APPALLED BY DAUGHTER’S BIKINI SHOT CONTROVERSY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:42 pm

Supermodel CINDY CRAWFORD has hit back at criticism she received earlier this year (06) for allowing her young daughter to be photographed in a bikini and insists the photos were entirely innocent.
Crawford’s then four-year-old daughter KAYA posed for the swimsuit shots and she and husband RANDE GERBER came under fire after some critics labeled the photos inappropriate.
She explains, "My friend has a swimwear line and she makes little girls’ suits, so she had a bunch of her friends bring their daughters over and we did a little photo shoot, just for like their look book on their website. I was there and it was so innocent. Kaya’s wearing shorts and she’s kind of like from the back peeking over her shoulder.
"Some blog site called it a topless photo. I’m like how can you even talk about a four-year-old being topless! "She’s a little girl, it wasn’t even, like, makeup or pageanty, or anything, it was truly just like little girls playing." Crawford doesn’t think she did anything wrong by allowing her daughter to participate in the shoot, but decided against having her pose a second time.
She adds, "I will put it this way, they just had the shoot again and she didn’t do it this time. More because my husband was like, ‘Why do we want to put ourselves in that situation?’ It’s too bad, because one of my best girlfriends shot the pictures this time and she knows Kaya and it would have been great and I would have gotten great family photos."

ELTON PAYS TRIBUTE TO VERSACE & LENNON IN INTENSE MASTERPIECE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:39 pm

ELTON JOHN insists new song BLUES NEVER FADE AWAY is one of his masterpieces because it’s a personal tribute to dead friends JOHN LENNON and GIANNI VERSACE.
The ROCKET MAN admits the song, which appears on his new album THE CAPTAIN & THE KID, is about "coping with loss," adding he feels it’s "probably my best vocal on a record ever." He says, "I miss John Lennon’s laugh, and, God, could we do with a John Lennon in the world today.
"You celebrate these people who were close to you in other ways, but the pain of losing them doesn’t go away. Blues Never Fade Away is just a reflection on that.
"I’m happy with the vocals on the whole album, but the one (song) I sing with a special intensity.
"I’ve had two of my best friends shot on their front doorsteps in America Gianni Versace and John Lennon. And God knows how many friends of mine died of AIDS before the government started to do anything about it. You have to feel something when you’re singing those lyrics."

NEOPOLITAN SINGER MARIO MEROLA DIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:33 pm

Singer MARIO MEROLA has died in a hospital near Naples after suffering a series of heart attacks on Sunday (12NOV06). He was 72.
The star, famous for his dramatic renditions of traditional songs from his native Naples, had been admitted a few days earlier to a hospital in Castellammare di Stabia because of worsening cardiac problems.
Italy’s Sky TG24 TV reported that police had to help control thousands of fans who went to the hospital to view his body and pay respects after hearing of his death.
The body was later taken to a church in Naples for a second wake and the funeral will also be held there.
Merola mixed dialogue and singing in stage and TV performances. His voice, melodramatic, sometimes verging on wailing and ripe with passion, reflected the vibrant personality of his native city.
Born in Naples in 1934, he began helping his family by taking a variety of jobs when he was young, including longshoreman, and his humble origins endeared him to fans.
He influenced many Italian singers and performers, including MASSIMO RANIERI, and more recently GIGI D’ALESSIO, and was considered an excellent talent scout.
Merola also appeared in films in the 1970s and 1980s.

RIMES: ‘UNDERWOOD HASN’T PAID HER DUES’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:33 pm

LEANNE RIMES has come to the defence of fellow country singer FAITH HILL, whose shocked reaction was caught on camera at the Country Music Awards last Monday (06NOV06) when CARRIE UNDERWOOD beat her.
Hill appeared to be angry when she lost out on the Best Female Artist prize to the AMERICAN IDOL star and was seen mouthing a shocked "What?" before walking off.
Rimes writes on her official website, "Okay, I usually keep quiet on topics like this, but I feel I need to stand up for my friend, Faith.
"She was just being honest and emotional like every other person sitting at home with an opinion.
"These awards shows are so political and we all get fed up with them.
"We all work very hard and have for many years so to see someone come in and win Female Vocalist that has been here for a very short time, is a little disheartening." "She probably felt, as I did, that Carrie has not paid her dues long enough to fully deserve that award.
"As artists and public figures, we have to keep our feelings so repressed so we don’t get called ungrateful. Please cut her some slack!"

BLACK REFUSES TO LOSE WEIGHT FOR MOVIES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:39 pm

American actor JACK BLACK has ruled out crash dieting simply to secure a movie role, insisting Hollywood’s obsession with weight is stupid.
The portly star, 37, who recently admitted to "selling out" when he made the 2001 comedy SHALLOW HAL alongside Oscar winner GWYNETH PALTROW, remains unmoved by Tinseltown’s preoccupation with svelte stars.
He says, "I don’t get hung up on weight. If a director said I’d get a role but I’d have to lose five pounds (2.3 kilograms), I could do that by tomorrow losing the first few pounds is easy.
"But if someone asked me to lose, say, 30 pounds (13.6 kilograms) for a film, it’d have to be an awfully cool part. And nothing’s coming to mind right now."
