MADONNA is set to go into the studio with ABBA stars AGNETHA FALTSKOG and ANNI-FRID ‘ FRIDA’ LYNGSTAD after holding talks with the Swedish pop legends.
The DANCING QUEENS agreed to record material with Madonna after being impressed with her sampling of GIMME GIMME GIMME on her HUNG UP single. A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Madonna has been in contact with Agnetha and Frida for a few months.
"Madonna was the driving force behind the idea because she was so happy with her sample of Gimme Gimme Gimme on Hung Up.
"Agnetha and Frida loved it, they really warmed to Madonna for rejuvenating one of their most famous tracks." Abba songwriters BJORN ULVAEUS and BENNY ANDERSON will not be involved.

Acclaimed actress ANNETTE BENING was honoured with a star on Hollywood’s Walk Of Fame yesterday (10NOV06), and she credited husband WARREN BEATTY with helping her enjoy continued success.
The 48-year-old has been nominated for an Oscar three times for her roles in AMERICAN BEAUTY, BEING JULIA and THE GRIFTERS, but she has yet to win an Academy Award.
She said, "I always wanted a family so when I got to be a grown-up in the movies, I found my husband, and he’s the person I’m the most grateful to, because he makes moments like this take on the proper perspective.

WILLIAM SHATNER insists director JJ ABRAMS will struggle to cast the role of CAPTAIN JAMES T KIRK in his new STAR TREK film, because the part is "uncastable".
The 75-year-old played Kirk in the original Star Trek TV series and numerous movie spin-offs, and has sympathy for LOST creator Abrams because no one can match his iconic performances.

The SPINNING AROUND singer was delighted to be back on stage after undergoing successful surgery in Melbourne in May 2005, and a course of chemotherapy in Paris.
She said, "I’m thrilled to be back. I’ve been looking forward to this for such a long time.
"I’m as prepared as I can be but I’m not sure that I’ll be able to do everything that I did before - not that I do an enormous amount of jumping all over the stage, but quick changes are really stressful." In recent months, she’s made occasional appearances in public, including a TV interview, a book signing in London and Dolce & Gabbana’s catwalk show in Milan.
But today she performed a selection of her greatest hits at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, and will perform 19 more Australian dates before touring the UK in January (07).

LOST IN TRANSLATION star SCARLETT JOHANSSON has signed on to appear in her second advertising campaign for Louis Vuitton.
The voluptuous 22-year-old, who has also endorsed products for Calvin Klein and L’Oreal, first appeared in ads for the fashion house in 2004.
Former models for the company include NAOMI CAMPBELL, KATE MOSS and GISELE BUNDCHEN, as well as actresses JENNIFER LOPEZ and UMA THURMAN.
Johansson is set to appear in spots for the forthcoming Spring 2007 advertising campaign.
The announcement comes on the heels of news that Johansson will be releasing an album of TOM WAITS covers next year, as well as starring in THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL with NATALIE PORTMAN.

A new movie about Christmas will make its world premiere at the Vatican this month (NOV06).
THE NATIVITY STORY, which opens in the US and Italy on 1 December (06) stars Oscar-nominated actress KEISHA CASTLE-HUGHES as MARY and OSCAR ISAAC as JOSEPH.
It is not yet known if POPE BENEDICT XVI will attend the screening, according to his spokesperson CLAUDIA DI GIOVANNI.
Filmmakers have invited 7,000 people to the premiere and will donate proceeds from the event towards construction of a school in a village of Mughar in Israel, just north of Nazareth, the town of JESUS’ childhood.
The village has a diverse population, including Christians and Muslims, and is one of the towns hit by rockets fired by Lebanon-based Hezbollah guerillas over the summer (06).
Di Giovanni said the screening would be preceded by a reading from the Gospel and a prayer "to give a spiritual aspect" to the event.
She says the movie is believed to be the first feature film to have its premiere at the Vatican.
Earlier this year (06), Benedict watched a made-for-TV movie, KAROL, A POPE WHO REMAINED MAN, at a screening at the Vatican about his predecessor JOHN PAUL II who died in 2005.

Celebrity chef WOLFGANG PUCK and his handbag designer fiancee GELILA ASSEFA, are expecting their second child together. The baby boy, due in December (06), will be the second son for Puck, 57, and Assefa, 37.
The couple’s first child, OLIVER, was born in July 2005.
Puck also has two sons from his first marriage to business partner BARBARA LAZAROFF.
Austrian-born Puck, who owns the new Beverly Hills steakhouse Cut and several other upscale California eateries including Spago, has restaurants around the world.

LATEST: Actress DENISE RICHARDS won’t face charges for throwing two laptop computers over a balcony in a fight with paparazzi on Wednesday (08NOV06).
The WILD THINGS star was accused of hurling two laptops from the balcony at the River Rock Casino and Hotel, which hit two elderly women below.
The incident occurred after two photographers tried to snap pictures of Richards by gaining unauthorised access to the set where she is filming a movie with PAMELA ANDERSON.
The 90 and 81-year-old women were sitting in the lobby when the computers hit them, causing minor injuries.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police Captain PETER THIESSEN claims it’s not in the public interest to bring criminal charges against the actress.
He says the photographers, Richards and her management company have agreed to settle the matter civilly regarding the damage to the photographer’s laptops.
Richards, 35, has two daughters - SAM, two and LOLA, one - from her marriage to CHARLIE SHEEN and is currently dating rocker RICHIE SAMBORA.

Actor-turned-advocate MICHAEL J FOX is thanking political candidates who supported stem cell research initiatives in the US midterm elections on Tuesday (07NOV06).
The BACK TO THE FUTURE star campaigned for candidates who supported research and was accused of acting and exaggerating his symptoms in a political ad by conservative radio show host RUSH LIMBAUGH.
Fox tells US news show Entertainment Tonight, "Now that the dust of the election is beginning to settle, I want to thank candidates across the political spectrum who took the time to learn about - and support - embryonic stem cell research. Diseases and disorders are a non-partisan issue that needs a bipartisan solution. "When new and returning members of Congress arrive in Washington in 2007, I am hopeful that they and PRESIDENT BUSH will look for opportunities to move beyond partisanship and serve all citizens." This is not the first election year in which Fox has backed politicians regarding stem cell research.
Prior to the 2004 presidential election, the actor shot an ad backing Senator JOHN KERRY, who supported Fox’s stance on the issue and even campaigned with him leading up to the election.
