CAINE ALMOST STARVED BEFORE HE MADE IT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:45 pm

SIR MICHAEL CAINE almost starved to death trying to make his mark as an actor.
The ZULU star didn’t break the film industry until he was 30 - after years of struggling, earning next to no money in repertory theatre.
He says, "I went to a rep and I got the job there for a stage manager and one line at the end and I just went at it from there. It was very bad pay and the stage manager gets all the food and I used to wait for plays that we did where there was lots of meals so I could order food and take it home.
"My pay was £2.50 a week and my lodgings were £2.50 so I was in a bit of a state! I was very thin! You want to worry about anorexia, you want to work in rep!
