CLOSED HEARING HELD IN SMITH PATERNITY BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:24 pm

LATEST: California courts have jurisdiction over reality TV star ANNA NICOLE SMITH, but questions remain in the paternity suit filed by her ex-boyfriend whether DNA testing can be done on her infant daughter.
Attorney DEBRA OPRI, who represents LARRY BIRKHEAD, Smith’s ex-boyfriend who claims to be the father of her newborn daughter, claims the court has jurisdiction over Smith because she has sufficient contacts with California.
Opri said before moving to the Bahamas this year (06), the former Playboy Playmate lived, worked and had a sexual relationship in California.
Birkhead left Los Angeles Superior Court after a 75-minute private hearing and gave a thumbs-up sign as he left, but said nothing.
If he is confirmed as the father of two-month old DANNIELYNN HOPE MARSHALL STERN, he could receive visitation or custody rights and possibly child support.
The Los Angeles-based photographer also claims in a lawsuit filed in the Bahamas that Smith and her current companion, lawyer HOWARD K STERN, committed fraud and conspiracy.
The baby’s birth certificate lists Stern as the father.
Smith’s attorney RON RALE slammed Opri’s comments on the case saying, "Her statements are inaccurate and reprehensible." He declined to confirm or deny specific rulings in the case and has repeatedly stated that paternity proceedings are confidential under California law.

CAREY’S FUR COAT LOST IN THE MAIL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:18 pm

A $7,500 (£4,200) fur coat MARIAH CAREY donated to People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) has been lost by US delivery firm United Parcel Service.
The coat was en route to Mongolia, where it was to be given to refugees to help them keep warm this winter.
Animal-lover Carey sent two floor-length mink coats she received from a rich admirer to PETA bosses, asking them to donate the furs to the charity’s annual winter drive to help clothe homeless and needy refugees around the world.
According to PETA sources, one coat was on its way to Switzerland, where it was to be included in a sealed container bound for Mongolia to be included in a Swiss Animal Protection Society drive - but the coat never arrived.
UPS tells PETA the coat cannot be located and is lost. After filing a claim, the anti-fur charity will be reimbursed the full $7,500 (£4,200).
The other coat Carey donated did get to its destination - Los Angeles - and will be used as the canvas of a new anti-fur campaign, created by graffiti artist MARCUS SUAREZ.
The coat will be used as a prop at PETA protests later this winter.

Rapper SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS has mocked FAITH HILL’s on-camera gaffe at the Country Music Awards and KANYE WEST’s outburst at the MTV Europe Music Awards after they both lost out on top prizes.
Hill was caught on camera on Monday night (06NOV06) looking unhappy when CARRIE UNDERWOOD took home the Female Vocalist Of The Year prize, while West stormed the stage at the MTV EMAs last week (02NOV06) after missing out on the Best Video award.
Combs appeared on US talk show JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE on Wednesday night (08NOV06) and appeared in a hilarious video clip where he was inserted as the nominee at the CMAs instead of Hill.
When Underwood’s name was announced, Combs was seen saying, "Hell, no. I know y’all ain’t saying what I think you just said.
"Put the camera on me, man, I am country music. When the Country Music Awards does not give Diddy an award, the Country Music Awards loses all credibility." When an assistant tries to calm him down, he smashes a pitcher of water over his head saying, "Get the f**k out of here.
"There would be no BROOKS or DUNN or TOBY KEITH or nobody if it wasn’t for me, Diddy. I am country music!" He added, "You better give me my mother-f**king award, you country mother-f**kers," before storming off camera.
