BARON COHEN ACCUSED OF GETTING TV PRODUCER FIRED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 7:12 pm

A US TV producer alleges she was fired after hiring British comedian SACHA BARON COHEN for her show.
DHARMA ARTHUR booked Baron Cohen to appear on her Mississippi TV channel as spoof Kazakh TV presenter BORAT SAGDIYEV, and she was axed after the comedian made his usual rude jokes gags and disrupted the weather forecast.
Arthur still regrets hiring Baron Cohen, saying, "Think of all the others who’ve probably been fired due to his antics."

  • LAW FINDS ROMANCE A STRUGGLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 7:12 pm

British actor JUDE LAW deliberately avoids romantic movies - because he hates shooting love scenes.
The TALENTED MR RIPLEY star found it difficult to deliver his love-laden lines convincingly on the set of romantic comedy THE HOLIDAY, in which he co-stars KATE WINSLET, CAMERON DIAZ and JACK BLACK. He says, "Now I’ve made one (a romantic comedy) - it was one of the hardest jobs I’ve ever done. "NANCY (MEYERS, the director) kept laughing at me, because I’d say, ‘I really love you’, and she’d say, ‘Stop frowning and say it like you mean it!’ I was constantly massaging my forehead." But Law insists starring in a rom-com was a career ambition for him. He says, "The past few years, I’ve been thinking, what the f**k am I doing? Go and do something you want to watch with popcorn and laugh. Go and do it, and have fun."

  • BURSTYN BEMUSED BY 14-SECOND EMMY NOMINATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 7:12 pm

Veteran actress ELLEN BURSTYN was baffled by her nomination for a Best Supporting Actress Emmy award this year (06), because she appeared on screen for a mere 14 seconds. The REQUIEM FOR A DREAM actress scored an Emmy nod for her cameo role in HBO drama MRS HARRIS, which told the story of DR HERMAN TARNOWER, the man who invented the Scarsdale diet, and JEAN HARRIS, the woman who murdered him. Burstyn lost the award to her co-star CLORIS LEACHMAN, but her nomination for such a brief role drew ridicule from the US media, with The New York Post writing her performance "required her to do nothing more than sit in a chair and speak three sentences of dialogue in a vaguely foreign accent".
Speaking publicly for the first time about her controversial nomination, Burstyn jokes, "When they told me I was nominated for that I went, ‘What, are you kidding?’ "I thought it was fabulous. My next ambition is to get nominated for seven seconds, and, ultimately, I want to be nominated for a picture in which I don’t even appear." However, the 73-year-old admits she was shocked by the criticism her nomination attracted, saying, "The brouhaha around it, you know, they tried to reach me for a statement. "I said, ‘This doesn’t have anything to do with me. I don’t even want to know about this. You people work it out yourself.’"

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 7:09 pm

Hollywood bad boy CHRISTIAN SLATER is praying new movie BOBBY will rescue his movie career, like PULP FICTION did for JOHN TRAVOLTA.
The 37-year-old actor believes the film, a biopic of slain US Senator ROBERT F KENNEDY, will become his "comeback movie".
He says, "People have comeback movies. I mean, everyone always talks about John Travolta - how his career was completely off the map and yet he was able to come back with Pulp Fiction.
"We all need that. I don’t know anybody who gets through their career completely unscathed. Even TOM CRUISE, the guy we all held up as the ultimate pinnacle, is having his issues to deal with in this business."

  • ROGER MOORE: ‘BOND DOESN’T REQUIRE GOOD ACTING’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 7:09 pm

Former JAMES BOND star ROGER MOORE insists it doesn’t take a "good actor" to play the world’s most famous secret agent.
Moore - who played the suave superspy in the early 1980s - insists criticism of the decision to cast DANIEL CRAIG as 007 was harsh, because the role doesn’t require much talent.
He says, "I am a great defender of Daniel Craig. He’s a good actor. People have been so beastly, he’s not even had a chance.
"Not that you have to be a good actor… you just have to be able to say, ‘My name’s Bond, James Bond’ But despite offering his support to Craig, the 79-year-old actor isn’t looking forward to Casino Royale’s cinema release later this month (17NOV06).
He says, "The other thing that happens when a new Bond film opens is that I get bad reviews.
"The critics say, ‘Thank God, he - whoever he is - wasn’t like Roger Moore’."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 7:06 pm

LATEST: Photographers have pledged to stop taking pictures of former SPICE GIRL VICTORIA BECKHAM’s son ROMEO, because camera flashes could trigger an epileptic fit.
Last week (ends05NOV06), Victoria was pushing the four-year-old in his pushchair through London’s Heathrow airport when the boy was forced to shield his eyes from an onslaught of camera flashes.
Victoria shouted, "Leave him alone. He’s got epilepsy. All that flashing will start an epileptic fit. You can’t do that." A spokesperson for picture agency Worldwide Entertainment News Network (WENN) says, "We will certainly stop taking flash pictures of Romeo if he suffers from epilepsy. There is no way we would want to harm someone just for the sake of a picture." A spokesperson for Victoria and her husband DAVID would not confirm Romeo’s illness but says, "We never comment on any medical matters to do with the children. But we’ve all worked hard to protect children from photographers it’s the parents who are newsworthy, not the kids."

  • Sir Paul McCartney insists he holds no grudge against his estranged wife Heather Mills.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:11 pm

The former Beatle - who is currently embroiled in a bitter divorce battle with the ex-model - insists he bears no ill-will towards his spouse, despite the nasty nature of the couple’s split.
Paul, 64, told BBC Radio 4’s ‘Today’ programme: "Life goes on, I do not hold grudges against anyone. I don’t blame anyone for the sad things that have happened to me. I am sad about them because it would stupid to be otherwise.
"There are certain things in life that are personal, and I think a relationship with a partner is intensely personal, and I prefer to keep it that way." Last month (17.10.06), Heather filed divorce papers which included allegations that Paul had been violent towards her during their marriage.
In his first interview since the contents of the papers was leaked Paul refused to be drawn into a public slanging match, insisting he intends to keep details of the divorce private - if he can.
He said: "It will put less noses out of joint and I think it is a more dignified way to go about things.
"When you are going through difficulties, I think the thing to do for the sake of all the people concerned is to keep a certain dignity and remember that it is a private affair, and that way you will probably get through it better.
"I think life goes on, and it is what you make of it, so I am pretty optimistic.
"I have had a lot of sadness in my life, and I think a lot of people are like me, so I don’t particularly feel alone.
"Even through difficult moments, I like to try and look to the other side and think there’ll come a time when I’ll feel better."

The British actress has also revealed she refused to tone up for the nude scenes in her new movie, ‘Little Children’, because she wanted women to see that her body isn’t perfect.
Winslet said: "Having had two children, it is very important to me that women on film are portrayed as real women. Women that the audience can relate to and think, ‘I’m like that, she looks real - like me and my friends.’ "Nobody’s perfect - I’m certainly not. I don’t have a six pack, I’m not free of stretchmarks, I don’t have perfectly pert breasts - and neither does my character Sarah." The 31-year-old star - who became the first actress to get four Oscar nominations before the age of 30 - recently admitted that her role in ‘Little Children’ is the hardest acting part she has ever had.
She said: "I really love this film and I am so proud to be in it. It takes my breath away. My English humble muscle usually kicks in, and I tend not to express what I really feel, but it was the hardest thing I have done."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:24 pm

PARIS HILTON was pushed into becoming a socialite celebrity, according to the writer of a new book documenting the rise of the wannabe pop star’s famous family.
JERRY OPPENHEIMER, author of HOUSE OF HILTON - FROM CONRAD TO PARIS: A DRAMA OF WEALTH, POWER AND PRIVILEGE says he pities Paris after uncovering details of her pressurised childhood.
He says, "Her mother, KATHY, put her in make-up and allowed her (into) nightclubs from a very young age. I feel sorry for her because in a way she had no chance to do anything else but live the dreams that her grandmother and her mother had for themselves." Oppenheimer worries Hilton’s unusual upbringing has affected her, saying, "Paris will say whatever comes into her head. She tends to make up stories and scenarios. I do wonder if she doesn’t live in a fantasy world herself." Oppenheimer also claims the Hilton clan reacted bizarrely towards the home video scandal that featured Paris and her then boyfriend Rick Salomon having sex in 2004.
He says, "Behind the scenes her parents were not opposed to (the sex video) because that totally launched her."
