Director GEORGE LUCAS wants to quit film-making to concentrate on more lucrative TV projects.
The STAR WARS creator says making movies is too risky nowadays, because the average cost of shooting and marketing a blockbuster is now $200 million (£111 million), so he’s steering his production company Lucasfilm towards TV and low-budget movies.
Lucas also believes internet downloading is set to shake up the film industry, reports Empire magazine.
He reveals, "We don’t want to make movies, we’re getting into television. The feature film thing is too expensive and it’s too risky. For that same $200 million I can make 50 to 60 two-hour movies." He adds, "I don’t think anyone’s going to be in the (movie-going habit) anymore. Everything is going to be a matter of choice. I think that’s going to be a huge revolution in the medium." However, Lucas isn’t giving up his film career just yet - he’s currently working on RED TAILS, a low-budget film about America’s first black military airmen, and the fourth INDIANA JONES movie.

MAGNOLIA movie-maker PAUL ANDERSON is suing the owner of his New York apartment after he and his wife were "bitten all over their bodies" by bed bugs.
The director and comedienne spouse MAYA RUDOLPH moved into the lavish flat last month (OCT06) but were advised by an exterminator to seek an alternative residence for the sake of their one-year-old baby.
The couple is seeking $450,500 (£235,800) in damages for the infestation, which they claim was covered up.
They’re also angry a lift to the third-floor apartment was out of order for at least six of their first 11 days in the building, despite assurances from owner FRANCIS FEENEY on their move that they could expect "first-class luxury".
They have since moved out of the building.

OJ SIMPSON will retain rights to his image after the parent of a victim in his murder trial lost his bid for the former sports star’s publicity.
Simpson was cleared of the 1994 killing of ex-wife NICOLE BROWN and RONALD GOLDMAN but ordered to pay out $33.5 million (£18.6 million) in damages in a 1997 civil trial.
Goldman’s father FRED insists he’s not received any of the money and sought Simpson’s "right of publicity", including earnings from autographs and public appearances, for financial compensation.
But Santa Monica Superior Court Judge LINDA LEFKOWITZ turned down the challenge yesterday (02NOV06), declaring the move would violate the constitution.
Simpson’s lawyers had argued that, because he has severed ties with the state, California courts have no jurisdiction over his image.
However Lefkowitz accepted, "Mr Simpson has, in fact, exploited his fame by such ghoulish activities as appearing at a ’slasher’ convention which exhibited… acts of violence not dissimilar from those which caused the death of (Goldman’s) son." Simpson did not attend the hearing.

British rockers RAZORLIGHT will headline a free climate change event in central London tomorrow (04NOV06).
The GOLDEN TOUCH stars will play at the Stop Climate Chaos event in London’s Trafalgar Square, at which campaigners will pressure the British government into introducing a climate change Bill and negotiate an international deal to stop global warming.
The event takes place on the eve of global climate talks in Nairobi, Kenya.
Thousands of campaigners and fans are expected to attend.

LATEST: A Hong Kong magazine that printed secretly shot semi-naked photos of a local pop star has lost its appeal against an obscenity ruling.
GILLIAN CHUNG, one half of popular female duo TWINS, was snapped changing costumes backstage after a concert in Malaysia. The racy shot subsequently appeared on the cover of gossip magazine Easy Finder in August (06).
Its publication outraged the Chinese showbiz world with stars including JACKIE CHAN staging a silent protest against the photos.
The Obscene Articles Tribunal subsequently branded the article obscene and, on Wednesday (01NOV06), upheld the decision at an appeal hearing.
They said the photos were a "calculated act of selling sexuality which is corrupting and revolting".
Chung has already vowed to sue the magazine.

The man from Michigan came screaming into the emergency room with a laceration to his penis which he blamed on his loved-one.
Doctor’s decided to examine the unfortunate patient’s wife to see what the problem was and were shocked to discover a needle lodged in her vagina.

A British TV commercial has become an internet hit after viewers spotted a naked Plasticine character’s penis.
The advertisement is for Quaker Oats and features children’s TV favourite Windy Miller from the popular show ‘Camberwick Green’ and his naturist Uncle Guber.
The pair are preparing microwave porridge ‘Oatso Simple’ and in one shot Guber reveals all.
The narration says: "Morning Windy. You’ve got a visitor, your Uncle Guber from Norway. Oh dear! He’s in the nib, Windy. Oh, he’s a naturalist, prefers to keep things natural does he?" The ad is now being shared on website YouTube.
A spokesman for Quaker said: "We are just keeping it natural."

A fashion show with a difference took place in Milan this week - all the designers were prisoners.
The four inmates from a female prison in Vercelli, presented their Codice a Sbarre jailwear spring/summer 2007 collection at the exclusive Gattopardo nightclub.
Models wore prison-inspired garments including pyjamas with green stripes, shorts emblazoned with bar code emblems, and tops printed with ID numbers.
Only two of the designers - a 30-year-old Italian and a recently released Nigerian - were present, as the other two were banned from leaving the prison because of the nature of the crimes.
Professional designer Maria Ripandelli, who worked with the women on the project, said: "The project was set up to help the women communicate their world through colours, details."

A German woman, who took a witch to court for failing to make her ex-partner fall in love with her again, has won her case.
The spurned woman paid the self-proclaimed sorcerer a large sum of money to help her get her female lover back, but said the spell didn’t work.
The Munich administrative court was told: "The defendant carried out the corresponding ritual over several months, each time under a full moon, but without success." After hearing both cases the court ruled that the witch’s services were "objectively completely impossible", because "a love ritual is not suited to influencing a person from a distance".
The witch was ordered to pay her disgruntled client $1,275.

A sheepdog is being trained to protect an Australian penguin colony.
Authorities are desperate to stop predators wiping out the land-birds on Middle Island, off Warnambool in south-west Victoria.
Numbers have dropped drastically from 5,000 five years ago to just 100, following a series of fox and dog attacks.
The sheepdog, known as a maremma dog, will be trialled between November 13 and December 8.
Craig Whiteford from Victoria’s Department of Sustainability and Environment said: "If this is successful, the potential is enormous. There are a string of colonies right along the coast."

An Alaskan woman was re-elected as a school governor - despite being dead.
Katherine Dunton died of cancer on the day of the local elections after amassing 19 votes to be re-elected to the Aleutian Region School District board.
Her opponent Dona Highstone also received 19 votes.
So, in accordance with state law, a coin toss was organised to settle the tie.
Dunton was named the winner after Highstone called "heads" on the coin that landed on ‘tails’.
Whitney Brewster, director of the Alaska Division of Elections, said: "This is the first that I have ever heard about, not only in our state, but in any other."

German police caught a clumsy burglar after he left a finger at the scene of the crime.
The criminal had broken into an office in Hildesheim to steal a computer on Monday (30.10.06), and managed to slice off the top of his digit on a broken window in the process.
Police managed to match the discarded tip to a 15-year-old boy after cross-referencing the finger with their existing prints.
A police spokesman said: "We usually find fingerprints at the crime scene, but it’s not every day that thieves leave the original there too."

German police called out to a "hold-up" discovered the "bankrobbers" were in fact children in Halloween costumes.
Two good samaritans separately spotted a group of suspicious looking figures waiting in a car with tinted windows outside a bank in the town of Bad Zwischenahn on Monday (30.10.06) and immediately called police.
When officers arrived the car had left. When authorities picked up the vehicle two hours later they quickly realised their mistake.
Officer Juergen Harms said: "We got a call that there were ‘masked people in front of a bank’ and assumed it was a hold-up." "After we brought the man and the children in we were able to quickly establish it was a case of mistaken identity." "It was hard for the witnesses to see that it was three children wearing Halloween masks."
