BURTON TIRED OF DARK REPUTATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:36 pm

Quirky movie maker TIM BURTON has had enough of his dark image, insisting there’s more to him than his gothic side.
The EDWARD SCISSORHANDS director’s obsession with the afterlife and Frankenstein myths have earned him a black reputation, but he claims it’s "obviously not true".
He says, "Really, I could come out in a light-blue leisure suit and it still wouldn’t change people’s take on you. We all have our moments of depression or darkness but it’s not like I’m hanging out in a cave."

INARRITU DENIES HOLLYWOOD BOYCOTT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:34 pm

Mexican movie-maker ALEJANDRO GONZALEZ INARRITU has slammed claims he’s deliberately snubbing Hollywood, insisting he’d be happy to take on a Tinseltown project if the script appealed.
The 21 GRAMS director has attracted a long line of Hollywood stars to his movies, including BRAD PITT, CATE BLANCHETT and SEAN PENN.
But he’s largely shied away from the US film industry to concentrate on homegrown ideas, and is in no rush to change his ways.
Speaking at a London Film Festival screening of BABEL last night (02NOV06) he said, "I’ve just never found something that is better than what I’m already doing.
"I have nothing against Hollywood, but what I’m doing at the moment just seems more important, more urgent."

FOX SHOWS FULL EFFECTS OF PARKINSON’S DISEASE ON TV

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:34 pm

Movie star MICHAEL J FOX showed the full extent of how his Parkinson’s Disease medication affects his speech and movement on US TV last night (02NOV06) when he sat for an hour-long interview with talk show host DONNIE DEUTSCH.
Fox, who was accused of acting and exaggerating his symptoms for a recent political campaign ad by political radio host RUSH LIMBAUGH, started off the chat on THE BIG IDEA by telling Deutsch he was waiting for medication to "kick in a little bit more".
The BACK TO THE FUTURE star, who is publicly supporting political candidates who are backing his stem-cell research fight, began the TV interview speaking clearly and mildly trembling and finished it slurring speech and flailing wildly as he fidgeted in his chair.
Fox told Deutsch that the idea he can control his symptoms to gain sympathy in a TV ad is ridiculous. He explained, "The whole idea that it could be an affectation is just crazy.
You wanna be able to speak and that’s the whole notion, it’s the whole goal.
It’s not something I manipulate, it manipulates me.
"You never know when it’s gonna hit… When I’m in my life, without certain pressure - I’m hanging out with my kids and TRACY (POLLEN - wife) - it’s a lot different, it’s a lot easier to manage. "It’s kinda like a bunch of teenagers taking the car for a ride and you’re in there and you’re just waiting to get it back… and you’re like, ‘This is cool, just take me home.’" When the actor’s medication kicked in 15 minutes into the interview Fox clearly lost control of his movement and his speech became fractured and breathless.
He explained, "I’m getting the car back, it’s back in the garage… A lot of times I’m oblivious to it.
"What I sometimes say to people when they ask me about it is, ‘It’s like the weather in New England; if you don’t like it, hang on a minute. It’s gonna change.’"

CHEVY CHASE: ‘GIBSON NEEDS A LITTLE EDUCATION’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:34 pm

Funnyman CHEVY CHASE is getting serious about pal MEL GIBSON’s anti-Semitic rant after aping the controversy in a new ‘ripped from-the-headlines’ LAW & ORDER story.
The SPIES LIKE US star plays a bigoted father who rants against the Jews after getting arrested for a driving offence in the episode of the hit TV drama, which airs in the US tonight (03NOV06).
The plot echoes Gibson’s scandalous behaviour back in July (06) when he unleashed an anti-Semitic rant at a Jewish highway patrol cop in California after he was pulled over for driving under the influence.
Chase says, "We’re referring to Mel Gibson but this is not about Mel Gibson.
In fact, he’s an old friend and I’ve never known him to be a bigot.
"But anybody who says those things under the influence of anything needs a little education… It’s something Mel has to work on."

MEAT LOAF CONCERNED EX IS MAD AT HIM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:27 pm

MEAT LOAF regrets not offering his ex-girlfriend the chance to tour with him to promote his third BAT OUT OF HELL album but insists he wouldn’t have been able to perform his classic PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHT with her.
The rocker invited KARLA DeVITO to join him for duets on all his dates but fears he should have at least given former singer ELLEN FOLEY the chance to turn him down.
He says, "I’m sure it made Ellen Foley mad but I don’t think Ellen Foley wanted to go out on tour anyway. I’ve never talked to her about it. I probably should’ve asked her if she wanted to go out on tour.
"Also, at that point she had been my girlfriend and we had broken up so I didn’t want to know about that. It was a bit selfish on my part.
"Paradise By The Dashboard Light would’ve had new meaning behind it if she came (because the song is about a woman who wants a commitment from her man)."

SEPULTURA BROTHERS END FEUD, PLAN 2007 REUNION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:24 pm

The original line-up of Brazilian heavy metal group SEPULTURA is to reunite after brothers MAX and IGOR CAVALERA ended their decade-long silence.
The siblings fell out in 1996 when Max’s stepson DANA WELLS was killed in a car crash and his mother GLORIA, Sepultura’s manager, opted to take time out to grieve her loss rather than join the group on tour.
Igor and his bandmates then hired a new manager, infuriating Max, who quit the band to support his wife. He went on to form SOULFLY.
The two brothers patched up their differences recently after Igor reached out to his brother by phone when Soulfly were touring through Europe.
Max says, "First, he apologised to Gloria for what happened with Sepultura, and then he said, ‘I don’t want to see you in a coffin, like some other families. I want to see you while you’re still alive." The reformed group is now working on scheduling dates for next summer’s (07) Ozzfest tour after drummer Igor joined his brother onstage for a Sepultura medley at the D-Low Festival in Arizona in August (06).

THE GAME FORCED OUT OF COMPTON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:24 pm

Rapper THE GAME has been forced out of his tough Compton, Los Angeles neighbourhood by concerned family members, who urged him to raise his son well away from the ‘hood.
The rapper reluctantly bought a new home in leafy Glendale, California a year ago (05) after pressure from his folks made him realise that his son HARLEM’s wellbeing was far more important than his own plans to stay as close to the mean streets, where he grew up, as possible.
He tells King magazine, "I never thought I’d leave my ‘hood. My mother and grandmother kept beating it into my head: ‘You have a baby boy and you’re still out on the block with him? What the f**k is wrong with you? You’re five times platinum.’ "Once my thick skull was cracked by reality, I decided to relocate my family.
Now, I’m like the FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR."

ROURKE: ‘I RUINED MY HOLLYWOOD CAREER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 7:03 pm

SIN CITY star MICKEY ROURKE accepts responsibility for his period in the Hollywood wilderness, admitting his bad attitude contributed to his downfall.
The 50-year-old actor says he was too immature to handle the pressure of being a Hollywood star first time around, and didn’t get work for 13 years because he was more concerned with his films’ artistic merit than the business side of the movie industry.
He admits, "By the time I left Hollywood, my reputation was so bad. I’d not handled things correctly. I was young and arrogant and immature and stupid. I didn’t take enough time to examine all the facets of the fact that making movies is a business.
"I didn’t want any part of it being a business, but that was me living in some sort of artistic bubble that doesn’t exist. I kind of had my head up my a**.
"When you’re out of work for 13 years, you have to look in the mirror and say, ‘It’s not them. I f**ked up. I put the gun to my head and pulled the trigger, they didn’t.’"

BERNAL CLEARS UP IDENTITY CONFUSION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 7:03 pm

Mexican actor GAEL GARCIA BERNAL was desperate to appear at this year’s (06) London Film Festival because the last time he graced the British capital to promote a film he was mistaken for its director.
Bernal appeared alongside his BABEL film-maker and compatriot ALEJANDRO GONZALEZ INARRITU in the British capital last night (02NOV06), and revealed the last time the pair worked together he inadvertently stole his limelight.
He recalls, "I was in London for the Baftas and AMORES PERROS was nominated for Best Foreign Film. It was up against AMELIE and no one was expecting us to win. Alejandro couldn’t make the ceremony and offered me his seat and I thought it’d be fun.
"When it actually won though, there was no one to accept it but me. I stayed sitting down for ages expecting someone to walk up on stage but it remained empty. I had to go up in the end and was so nervous I forgot to introduce myself. Everyone thought I was Alejandro.
"At the party after a very famous director came up to me and said sadly, ‘So young, so young. How did he do it?’ "I’m glad I can come back to London tonight with Alejandro and set the record straight." Inarritu adds, "For a while after the Baftas so many beautiful leading ladies wanted to sign up for my films. And then they saw I was not this hunk Gael is." The gala screening of Babel closed the Film Festival, which began last month (18OCT06).
