MARY J BLIGE’s producer pal BRYAN MICHAEL COX has defended the R&B star amid reports she is on the verge of splitting from her husband KENDU ISAACS.
The FAMILY AFFAIR singer has publicly heaped praise on Isaacs for helping her turn her back on alcoholism and drug abuse, discover God and revamp her flagging career, which is why many fans were shocked when split rumours stirred last month (OCT06).
But Cox, who has been working on new tracks for Blige’s upcoming hits album, REFLECTIONS, insists the internet reports are false and his pal and Isaacs have never been more in love.
He says, "It’s wild. I was just with them a few weeks ago, and we were all laughing about it.
"When the rumour got to them, they were on vacation together. They took off after the tour.
"When I heard it, I called immediately, and (Isaacs) was like, ‘Man, it’s all tabloid.’ That showed how the media can make up things and throw it out there.
They have such a great thing going on, people really gotta know what they got is the real deal."

Former BLINK-182 drummer TRAVIS BARKER has slammed his estranged wife SHANNA MOAKLER for throwing a party in Las Vegas, Nevada tomorrow (03NOV06) to celebrate the couple’s divorce.
The pair starred in the MTV reality show MEET THE BARKERS before announcing their split in August (06).
On Barker’s MySpace.com webpage, he writes, "Shanna is having a divorce party for herself in celebration of our failed marriage apparently.
"This is the same wife that emailed me to tell me she would be sleeping with her new boyfriend in my bed the day of our anniversary two days ago, so this doesn’t come as a shock.
"It saddens me people and even brings on the urge to puke, hope it does you as well.
"I’m gonna say a long prayer for her, she needs it. There isn’t a part of Shanna and I and the fact that our marriage failed that I could be celebrating or happy about even after all of this time it was our family.
"It was all we had. I mean a party??? Hope Shanna’s party is everything she could hope for."

Troubled rocker PETE DOHERTY has hailed his recent collaboration with hip-hop star MIKE SKINNER and his group THE STREETS "better than rehab".
The BABYSHAMBLES frontman worked with Skinner on drugs track PRANGIN’ OUT earlier this year (06), and was so inspired by the subject he even added a frank verse of his own.
Doherty brands the combined effort one of the most therapeutic experiences of his life, coming after court convictions for drug possession and several stints in an exclusive London rehab centre.
He says, "It was better drugs counselling than a month in The Priory. It’s probably true.
"And it was a cracking tune as well."

Legendary 1970s TV show KUNG FU is to be made into a film by director brothers ALLEN and ALBERT HUGHES.
Kung Fu first aired in 1972 and starred DAVID CARRADINE as a Shaolin monk who heads to the US.
The Hughes brothers, best known for MENACE II SOCIETY and FROM HELL, will shoot from a CORY GOODMAN script next year (07).
The movie is expected to be released in 2008, reports EmpireOnline.com.

When MADONNA arrived in Malawi last month (OCT06) she was amazed to discover her name took on a whole different meaning for all the people she met.
The HUNG UP singer has sparked furious debate after adopting DAVID BANDA towards the end of her stay in the African country - and began to wonder why locals knew her name when they had no idea of her superstar status.
She says, "People started to say my name and they had never heard of Madonna.
And, in Chichewa, the word ‘madonna’ means ‘distinguished white lady’, so I think they got very confused."

Hollywood wildman MICKEY ROURKE claims he has mellowed with age and now only uses physical violence as a last resort.
The 50-year-old insists he now asks questions first and no longer jumps in with his fists.
Rourke says, "The other day, there’s some drunk guy giving me s**t in a restaurant.
"So I gave him the benefit of the doubt and I said to the waitress, ‘I want you to watch this. If he touches me, I’m going to knock him right the f**k out.’ And they got rid of him.
"Whereas in the old days I would have just punched him in the mouth.
"He was being really rude and obnoxious, but I’m now able to evaluate and see what the consequences are."

DANIEL CRAIG only accepted the role of suave superspy JAMES BOND after STEVEN SPIELBERG reassured him he wouldn’t be typecast by the part.
Spielberg directed the British actor when he played a mercenary intelligence agent in terrorism drama MUNICH last year (05), and Craig worried he’d never get such a gritty part again if he accepted the spy franchise offer.
But after consulting the legendary movie-maker Craig was confident 007 wouldn’t harm his career.
He recalls, "I asked Steven Spielberg. I said, ‘Would you employ me again if I did Bond?’ "He said, ‘Course I f**king would.’ Well not quite like that. Or that profanity. But he’s a huge Bond fan." Craig’s debut 007 effort CASINO ROYALE opens later this month (NOV06).

Veteran actor SIR SEAN CONNERY has been named the best JAMES BOND and his 1964 007 movie GOLDFINGER the best Bond film, in a new survey.
Connery, who was the first actor to portray the secret agent on the big screen in 1962’s DR NO, beat out competition from ROGER MOORE, who was the second favourite Bond, followed by PIERCE BROSNAN in third place.
In a survey of over 3,000 fans polled by British gift company Red Letter Days, Goldfinger was voted the best 007 movie, followed by LIVE AND LET DIE (1973) in second place, and DIE ANOTHER DAY (2002) in third.
Elsewhere, URSULA ANDRESS, who played HONEY RYDER in Dr No, was named best Bond girl, followed by HONOR BLACKMAN as PUSSY GALORE in Goldfinger in second place, and HALLE BERRY as JINX JOHNSON in Die Another Day in third.

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST star JIM CAVIEZEL has defended his opposition of MICHAEL J FOX’s stem cell research pleas, insisting he wants the public to be better informed before voting on new measures.
The actor fears Fox’s support of Missouri’s Amendment 2, which would prohibit state legislative interference in any federally allowed stem cell research, could be dangerous and he’s appeared in a new US TV ad explaining his views.
Despite sympathising with the TEEN WOLF star’s debilitating Parkinson’s Disease, he’s keen for the public to understand the facts before casting their vote on the initiative.
He says, "I really care about people and the public. I believe the public needs to be informed. What they decide to choose is their choice, but I care very much." While Caviezel supports research using adult stem cells, he and the others in the commercial oppose the use of human embryos.
He adds, "I am absolutely for adult stem cell research. I care very much about people who have diseases, especially Parkinson’s Disease and I’d be through the moon if they ever came up with a cure for any of those diseases, especially Parkinson’s."

Boy band star JASON ORANGE begged hit British soap opera CORONATION STREET to give him a job after TAKE THAT’s split - but was continually turned down.
The RELIGHT MY FIRE star was desperate for a career change following the group’s disbandment in 1996, but despite his best efforts soliciting the TV show his acting dreams never materialised.
He tells British magazine Attitude, "I auditioned for Corrie a couple of times, but I didn’t get it. They seemed really keen but nothing came of it.
"I was gutted but I realised that at the time I just wasn’t in the right frame of mind to be a soap person, and they (producers) recognised that." Take That recently reformed and are recording a new album.

LATEST: DONALD TRUMP has vowed to fight "unpatriotic" local councillors who are threatening to fine him for putting up a massive American flag outside his Mar-a-Lago Club resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
The APPRENTICE star erected an 80 foot (24 metre) flag pole to display his 15-by-25 foot flag (4.6-by-7.6 metre), which is 15 times larger than local zoning laws allow, at a cost of $150,000 (£83,000).
Officials insist Trump needed a building permit and Landmarks Preservation Commission approval for the oversize flag and pole.
Trump tells the New York Daily News, "They want me to take down the American flag, and I’m simply not going to do it. We’ll fight this, I’m not budging on that flag.
"How can you regulate a flag? How can you regulate patriotism? I’m an American. You don’t need a permit for an American flag.
"The flag is not going anywhere and that’s final."

BLUR bassist ALEX JAMES is confident the British band will reform for one final album, after holding talks with estranged guitarist GRAHAM COXON.
Coxon parted ways with James, frontman and GORILLAZ creator DAMON ALBARN, and drummer DAVE ROWNTREE in 2002 and has since said he has no intention of returning to the fold.
But James is confident Coxon, who is enjoying a successful solo career, will change his mind and allow Blur to split for good on a high note.
He says, "I’ve got high hopes that Blur will have a happy four-piece ending.
I think it would be a shame if it didn’t, really.
"I think we’d all like to make another record. We’d all like to do it with Graham. I’ve been talking to Graham a bit and hopefully I can persuade him. I’m going to have to beg him, though.
"I still don’t think we’ve made our best record yet. That’s one of the things you get when you’re a musician. You think, ‘I’m going to do something brilliant in a minute.’ If you don’t think that, you’ve got to stop."

Veteran rocker PHIL COLLINS is surprised to be planning a future collaboration with hip-hop star PHARRELL WILLIAMS because he thinks of himself as "tremendously unfashionable".
The GENESIS star, who features in the latest GRAND THEFT AUTO game, refuses to do anything he doesn’t feel comfortable with.
He says, "I generally do things that are tremendously unfashionable. (But) if you start worrying about that you do things that aren’t really true to you.
"Music critics tend to put people in boxes, but if you actually talk to the people involved, there’s a much more open field.
"For example, Pharrell Williams and I are desperate to work together. I’m always surprised when young black kids come up to me and say, ‘Yeah man, I love (your 1989 album) BUT SERIOUSLY.’"

Reformed pop act CULTURE CLUB have hit out at their former frontman BOY GEORGE, branding his disparaging remarks about the new line-up "rude".
Band members JON MOSS, PHIL PICKETT and MIKEY CRAIG recruited new singer SAM BUTCHER to replace George earlier this year (06) to stage a comeback.
But their efforts were publicly ridiculed by George who claimed, "I wanted to like it but I couldn’t".
An infuriated Craig tells the New York Daily News, "The only person George loves is George… He’s like a nightmare ex-wife.
"This guy’s being rude about me all the time. I’ve lived with it for years and I’ve just had enough." Drummer Moss adds, "We’ve never said anything about George, because George has always been George. But this has gone too far." Earlier this week (30OCT06) George accepted a classic songwriting award at the Q Music Awards for KARMA CHAMELEON - a song credited to all the original band members. None of the others were invited to the ceremony.

The 30-year-old Ukrainian supermodel-turned-actress, who is engaged to British film director Paul WS Anderson, blames her size zero figure for the fact they have not had children.
Milla told Britain’s Grazia magazine: "I’d love to have a baby. I think the only reason I haven’t conceived is because of my active lifestyle. My body won’t allow itself to get pregnant now because it knows it wouldn’t be in a healthy environment." Milla claims that being a model is not healthy and that is why she cannot get pregnant.
However, she is considering taking a break from modelling to gorge herself on calorific treats in order to have a baby.
She added: "I need to take a year off, sit down, watch some movies and eat some yummy food. And then boom! It will happen. Give me a few months off at home, let me relax and suddenly I’m healthier and I gain 10lbs." Milla insists she and her fiancé are trying very hard to get pregnant.
She said: "The fact I’m not pregnant isn’t for lack of trying! It’s not as though we’re using protection."

The staff begged her to stay but she wouldn’t listen and left." The 25-year-old, the adopted daughter of singer Lionel Richie, denies that she has an eating disorder and insisted she entered the $80,000-a-month centre in Newport Beach to undergo tests to find out why she couldn’t put on weight.
A spokeswoman said last Thursday (26.10.06): "Nicole has decided to undergo diagnostic treatment to determine why she’s not been putting on any weight.
"She is working with a team of doctors and specialists whose focus is nutrition. It is important to Nicole that she achieves this goal in a health y way as this is not a treatment for an eating disorder." After she had left the facility Nicole was seen partying at Hollywood nightclub Hyde with ‘Mean Girls’ star Lindsay Lohan.
It was alleged Nicole collapsed at the nightspot and was carried out by friends through the back door.

Speaking about reports of poor ticket sales for his upcoming promotional tour, which has resulted in a number of cancelled shows, Kevin insisted he would prove his critics wrong.
He said: "I don’t care if it’s a room full of five or nine people. I don’t care if there’s one person. I’ll still perform.
"I’m a rookie artist, you can’t expect because of my name to sell out a show. People don’t know me as Kevin Federline the artist, they know me as Kevin Federline the dude that’s married to Britney Spears.
"Eventually that will change. Once I start building up a fan base, by doing events like this and showing people I can get them turned on." The fledging rapper also admitted he would have to sacrifice time with his family - wife Britney and their children, Sean Preston and Jayden James - to make his career a success.
He said: "It’s going to be tough because I’m not going to see my family as much as I want to, but those are the sacrifices you makes as an artist."
