PRESENTER EXPOSES HIMSELF AT AUSTRALIAN MUSIC AWARDS
An Australian TV presenter may lose his job after bizarrely exposing himself onstage during the Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards on Sunday night (29OCT06) in Sydney.
VIDEO HITS presenter AXLE WHITEHEAD and radio DJ JABBA were presenting the awards for the highest selling single and album when Whitehead exposed himself to the crowd.
The image of Whitehead’s genitals was subsequently flashed up on two giant video screens on either side of the stage.
The stunt was met with a stunned silence from the 10,000 ARIA guests in Acer Stadium, who failed to find the prank funny.
Australia’s Ten Network, which broadcasts the ceremony and is also Whitehead’s employer, was forced to edit the indecent act out of the ARIA telecast.
The network issued a statement reprimanding the music show host saying, "In an incident that was not telecast, last night Axle momentarily exposed himself to the ARIAs.
"His behaviour was inappropriate and Ten and ARIA producers, Roving Enterprises, do not condone it. We are addressing this issue with Axle and will make no further comments at this stage." Whitehead’s co-presenter Jabba tells Sydney’s Daily Telegraph,"My understanding is that he wasn’t wearing any undies, his fly was open and some of his lunch meat fell out of the sandwich."
