Conservative US talk show host BILL O’REILLY got into a sparring match with DAVID LETTERMAN during an appearance on the LATE SHOW on Friday night (27OCT06).
The US Fox News Channel host renewed his prickly confrontation with Letterman that began in January (06) when Letterman told him, "I have the feeling about 60 per cent of what you say is c**p." Before O’Reilly came out, Letterman made his feelings clear saying, "I’m secretly hoping when Bill O’Reilly comes out here, I’ll have the opportunity to call him a bonehead." O’Reilly walked out for his appearance with a plastic shield and sword, which he proceeded to hand to Letterman who quipped, "That’s cute, that’s nice. You come out with toys." The pair discussed the Iraq war and the upcoming midterm election in the US, with O’Reilly saying that Americans are depressed by the progress of the Iraq war and that they’d rather watch escapist entertainment like DANCING WITH THE STARS.
O’Reilly then mocked Letterman asking, "Are you going to be on Dancing with the Stars?" Letterman shot back, "Ha ha. You bonehead." At the end of the uncomfortable confrontation Letterman quipped, "I have no idea what I’m talking about, but I don’t think you do, either."
